I purchased this telephone/answering machine to replace a complicated unit that my 87-year old in-laws had in their apartment. It is simple, buttons are easy to see and the volume controls are superior. The answering machine messages are very understandable unlike other machines that are scratchy and inaudible. It's great for folks who have difficulty hearing because the phone ringer and answering machine messages can be set to a loud volume. This is a terrific phone/answering machine for the price.
