Slim, Compact IC Recorder with USB Cradle, Voice Editing Software and Two Rechargeable AAA Batteries.
Very Good
I love voice recorders. They are my memory on a stick. Like many people I can't remember everything I need to. So a voice recorder comes in handy as a way of extending my memory. I record it when the thought occurs then transcribe it to my GTD system on a regular schedule. My last voice recorder had pretty poor sound quality and wasn't able to playback over stereo earphones so I needed to upgrade.
This recorder is amazing. The three most important things to me are that recording is easy, the sound quality is good and the batteries last. The recording function is easy and fast. Unfortunately the playback controls and other features are a little complicated. This thing has 9 buttons and two switches, which is a bit much. The second most important thing is audio quality, which is excellent. Recordings are crisp and clear, especially using earphones. And finally the batteries, without good batteries a voice recorder becomes useless. The RR-US500 comes with rechargeable batteries that are automatically charged when it rests in its sync/power stand.
The one thing I REALLY wish was present was a clip like you have on a pen. I usually carry the recorder in my shirt pocket and it slides out easily when I bend over. It's fallen several times and I don't want to have it crack open on concrete floor.
Another small gripe would be the USB port on the device. I have multiple devices that use the USB Mini-B connection and can all share the same sync cable. The mini-USB port on the device isn't the more common type so now I have to carry around yet another cable to sync with my laptop.
