Sounds very good but the installation guide and support is useless, especially given the high end price and target use of this product. The website is also useless. I mean useless. A telephone number for tech support is given but when called a message is provided saying tech support is only via the web. On Vista, there's a beta driver, which they take pains to point out they dont support, but they FAIL to make clear that two other downloads/installations are necessary BEFORE the beta can be installed. Also, while they mention that other sound cards must be disabled/removed, the technicalities of doing so with a Microsoft operating system certainly warrant a few hints.

the installation manual indicates this system should come with the 1212m PCI card and 0202 daugter card... it doesn't. also the connections to the 1212m are disabled when you connect the 1616m box.

it comes with cubase and SONAR "lite" versions with lots of plugins and upgrade options. this software is powerful but has a steep learning curve for the novice. but i always loved a challenge.

i don't like the MIDI interface: four dangling cable extensions. E-MU should have included MIDI connections on the 1616m breakout box. also i would prefer the option to buy both PCI and PCMCIA card in the same package. i'm using the card in my PC at home but eventually i will want to take it out on jobs with a laptop.

it's important to remember this is a mixer and recording studio. it's not your best choice if you just want a sound card for your pc. But you could buy the 1212m card without the interface breakout box. the card immediately improved the sound of my system by 100%. it's da bomb!
