I mostly play fiddle for dances and was tired of being confined in front of a boom mic, so I wanted to try an on-board mic. The sound quality is fairly warm and it didn't take much adjusting to find even tone across all 4 strings. I've heard some users say that wire connection to the microphone is very fragile and has been known to break easily. I'm taking care with mine - so far, so good. The only feature it lacks for me is an on-off switch, but I'll get an XLR cable with a switch to remedy that. All in all, I'm very happy with the ATM350.

I use this mic for acoustic upright bass. It's easy to fit it to the f-hole on a bass to keep from having bass feedback or roar. If needed it would be great on a sax.

I am a violinist and fiddler. I do not use the velcro violin holder. I strap this to my shoulder rest and tilt it over the left F hole (sound hole). This mic sounds fantastic for headphone listening and recording. Especially with an ART MP tube preamp. I will continue using it for these purposes. For live sound, it cannot prevent the inevitable feedback loop (C#). I haven't found a close proximity mic that can. For recording this mic is wonderful. Just don't get it close to live speakers (above speaking volume).
