I have used the PD500 at a number of indoor and outdoor events and it has well out performed the PD250 I once owned. The PD500 has that extra power you'll need for larger events outdoors. I have yet been able to crank it up to max as I would drive the people closer people crazy.

If you at all plan on using a PD250 outdoors for events, I would change your mind and choose the PD500...

This is the nicest system anywhere near its' price range. The only thing we had to add for our four piece classic rock band setup was a couple of monitors and a power amp to run them. The monitor out on the PD-500 needs amplified. Powered monitors would solve this problem too. As far as portability and decent power are concerned this unit is untouchable by the competition.
