My dish has an optical audio out, but my new surround system had coaxile in. Didn't know this converter existed but boy am I glad it does. The Toslink connection I had to use electrical tape to keep it from slipping out all the time, but the sound is exceptional from my system. I notice no loss of signal through the converter.
