This steamer is PERFECT! It makes great tender-crisp every time. I havent tried meat or rice, but I have a vegetable garden and use this steamer daily. I can depend on it to cook this exactly the way it says. My little grandson was so fascinated by it that I let him put the veggies in himself and he felt so great making his own that he ate every one. I bought him one of his own to take home with him. He is 9 yrs old.
