Face Detection and Face Recognition with Auto-tracking AF
The auto-tracking AF system uses motion analysis technology to maintain both sharp focus and correct exposure for a human face, and the combination of face detection technology and the auto-tracking AF system ensures that, once the focus locks on to a person's face, it will stay sharp and maintain the right exposure, even if the person moves; thereby making it much easier to capture beautiful portraits. The Face Recognition function can save up to 6 faces via a biometric mask. The innovative Smile Detection Auto Shutter function ensures that you will never again miss that smile when taking photos. Press the release button as soon as you have the faces in the frame, and the photo will then be taken, fully automatically, once the subjects are smiling.

Enhanced Quick Responsiveness
Once powered on, the camera is ready to take pictures in approximately 1 second, and after the shutter is snapped, pictures are taken almost instantly, with only 0.008 second release time lag. The "Direct On" buttons allow quick startup of both shooting and viewing modes, and the camera also has High-speed image viewing at approximately 0.1 seconds intervals.

Powerful Fast Flash
The Built-in flash has a "Rapid Flash" feature that enables three consecutive flash photos in one second, while the "Soft Flash" function reduces flash brightness when taking close-up flash photos. Furthermore, the "Flash Assist" mode compensates for poorly illuminated areas of the shot.

Movie Mode and Audio Record
The EX-Z80 is able to Record movies with sound at broadcast quality using the MPEG-4 H.264 standard that provides an increased compression ratio allowing users to record longer clips without having to sacrifice the quality of their movies, and can continue recording as long as there is memory available. The camera can also produce an audio snapshot (with audio recorded at the same time as the image or added later), and is equipped with a Voice Recorder feature.
