great stereo system, compact size

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
excellent stereo system. If I had a bit more space I would prob get Yamaha Natural Sound receiver, however I didn't want black plastic on my desk. The Denon M37 has very small footprint. Build quality is exceptional, it just looks terrific (it's brushed aluminum model that I have). Sound is very good, included speakers are not the best, so I upgraded by purchasing Sony ss-b1000 and Insignia 2111, which are highly rated low price speakers (either pair is okey, insignia offers better lows, but also almost twice as big, and are not really shelf speakers). And now it really delivers high quality sound. If you are an audiophile, and can spend $1500+, look for something else, otherwise buy Denon, trust me, you won't regret it!

Description
Combining legendary Denon design concepts along with European-engineered acoustical tuning, the D-M37 personal music system is the ideal choice for a compact music center that delivers a superb musical experience. The built-in CD player features precision Burr-Brown audiophile D/A converters, and features CD-R and CD-RW disc playback compatibility, along with MP3 and WMA playback capability. The D-M37 is fully prepared for portable audio players, and features a front panel USB connection port for MP3 players or USB drives. As with many other Denon models, the D-M37 is also equipped with iPod dock connectivity (optional ASD-11R/3N/3W iPod docks). The powerful amplifier section features Denon's simple and straight circuit design philosophy, and includes a mono output for connection to an external subwoofer. The matching compact loudspeakers feature double layer inverted cone woofers and soft dome tweeters with extended high frequency response, and were co-developed with European acoustical engineers.
