Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I bought this V500 because the 1660 capabilities with film were limited. Mostly, the V500 has satisfied my wishes to scan odd (and old) film sizes, but I have found it necessary to fool the software sometimes to get the results I wanted. Also, the ICE feature is not as useful as I expected, producing blotchy images sometimes. At the price, I'm satisfied.
