The Galileo FS-720DX is mounted on Galileo's Super Glide Altitude Azimuth mount. It's easy use up and down, left and right movement is great for beginners and casual star gazers alike. Terestrial viewing is extremely easy due to the included 45 diagonal which produces a totally erect image. The Super Glide mount features slow motion controls in both axis for precision adjustments. The Mount is attached to a very sturdy, fully adjustable, pre-assembled metal tripod with retractable rubber feet. The tripod also features an accessory tray with slots to place 4 1 eyepieces or lenses. The optical tube assembly attaches to the mount by an adjustable tube clamp which in combination with the adjustable counter balance weight ensures easy fluid movement of the telescope at all times. Also included with the Galileo FS-720DX is a 2x Flip barlow which you can only find at Galileos Place. No fumbling with eyepieces and lenses, just flip a knob, and instantly double the power of your telescope. Turn the knob again to turn the barlow off and view at normal focal length. The telescopes optical tube assembly is finished out with a large 1 format focus tube. The Galileo FS-720DX optical tube assembly features a 720mm focal length. The objective lens is an 80mm two element achromat (color correct crown & flint) air spaced objective lens. The tube itself is aluminum, painted flat black internally, and fully baffled for excellent visual and CCD imaging. The objective is fully multi-coated and has a resolving power of 1.4 arc seconds. The optical tube assembly is diffraction limited at Lambda 4 (1/4 wave in Sodium light). The diagonal consists of a 45 Schmidt prism that is fully coated in Magnesium Fluoride (refractive index: n = 1.38). The finderscope is Galileos Mars Eye electronic Finderscope which helps by getting the observer behind the telescope without losing the surrounding field of view when targeting objects. Included with the FS-720DX are an 1 6.8mm to 16mm zoom eyepiece (42 apparent field of view @ 6.8mm), an 1 25mm Astroscopic eyepiece and a 2x Flip Barlow. The 25mm is a 3 element, fully color corrected, modified Rank Kasspheric eyepiece with an apparent field of view of 52.
