Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

These are the best [$] headphones you will ever buy. They are similar in sound to some phones that are 5-10 times the price. The sweet spot of this model is the stereo imaging. It is so good it can fool people into thinking the music is being played right in front of them. The bass is rich and the mid-range is not thin at all, but the high-end varies a little too much for my tastes. Sometimes the cymbals have perfect sibilance, but other times they are squished. However, I believe that is more due to bad mixing or overdone dynamic compression (which you can hear quite well with these phones) than a problem with the phones themselves. Noise cancellation is decent, and I can wear the phones for several hours before I get fatigued. The only complaint is that 4 feet is not enough cord for me, since these are my computer headphones.
