Description

The SM-250A is an active, full-range, 2-way studio monitor speaker with 6.5" shielded woofer, 1" Ferro fluid-cooled, soft-dome shielded tweeter and built-in 100W bi-amped power. This model is bass-reflex loaded with 2" tuned cylindrical port for optimized linear bass response. The monitor highlights clear, transparent sound and full linear frequency response for perfectly balanced mixes that translate accurately to other systems. The cabinets feature a curved front baffle for reduced high frequency diffraction and excellent imaging, not possible with conventional square-edged baffles. The heavy-duty cabinet construction offers increased structural integrity and stiffness for clean, articulate performance even at high SPL levels. Gold-plated binding posts for easy hookup to banana plugs, spade connectors or bare wires (SM-120) provide added convenience and practicality.     bad out the box never ...

    "These reference monitors ...

    These reference monitors are probably the best value out there. They're very inexpensive- and it shows- though the construction is solid and heavy, these cabinets are often cosmetically flawed. But don't send them back- they put the quality where it counts. I've had a lot of studio experience; I like NS-10M's for sheer reference, but these strike a better balance between reference and ear fatigue, offering a slightly more flattering picture of what you put through them while still giving you a mix that will translate well through other systems- of course you need a subwoofer to keep track of the extreme lows, these won't reveal what's happening down there, but neither will monitors costing 3 times as much. Also I accidentally honked them several times with an outrageous signal level, but the speakers never blew out. I've used my SM 250A's for a year now and still love them.
