The Panasonic MCCG973 Canister Vacuum with Power Nozzle fits the bill! Inside the power nozzle, an agitator generates positive brush action for more effective cleaning - but a fingertip switch deactivates the brush, allowing you to clean your wood, laminate, tile or linoleum floors more safely. The stretch hose connects to the canister using a 360 swivel connector, which allows a wide range of movement without moving the canister and reduces canister tip-over.
Built-In Overload Protector helps prevent damage to the Belt and Nozzle Motor - If the agitator should become jammed or clogged, the overload protector on the Panasonic MCCG973 vacuum will shut down the unit to protect the integrity of the nozzle motor and belt. Once the blockage is removed, simply press the restart button and resume vacuuming! Tool attachments are kept handy in recessed slots at the top of the canister, which is easy to access while cleaning - just flip up the cover and pick the right tool for the job! Also includes a HEPA exhaust filter to help remove dust, dander, and other allergens from the air before it is released through the exhaust.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
[...] First time we used it, the on-off switch would not shut off the vacuum, and we had to pull the plug to turn it off. This happened many times during the next few days. Also, the attachments are held on by friction, so when you are cleaning pillows, or furniture, and pulling the handle toward you, the accessory falls off. I called Panosonic for help with the switch and they told me the nearest service center is about 40 miles away.It is a powerful, quiet vacuum, but the faults would keep me from recommending it.

i started using panasonic vac's 25 yrs ago. [...]so i went thru about 15-20 diff vacuums since then. i go thru four a yr approx. as i am very rough. i also am disabled in back, neck, skull and shoulders from car crash with drunk driver. i got this vacuum prob two months ago and love it. its very very lightweight, very good suction and it dont hurt me to use it. i love the cord that rewinds itself into the machine. i love the fact u can sit the vacum upright. the swivel is great too. u just can not kill a panasonic as u see from above. my friend got one off the side of road ten yrs ago, still running great. nohting wrong with it. i've tried every other kind anyone makes. no luck. always back to a panasonic.
