    The performance was great until my speak

    The speakers blew on low volume. On my second set which had a smudge on the inside of the glass

    Bottom Line:

    No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    I am on my second set..... The auto adjustment for the picture does not work on this set as well as on the first unit I returned. Both sets also would randomly turn off and then turn back on. Philips will not recognize either issue.

    Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    We were looking to replace our 8 year old standard definition Mitsubishi Diamondscan with a HDTV. We researched and looked at all the leading brands in the under $2000 price range including Sony, Mitsubishi, Samsung, etc. To our surprise we kept coming back to the Philips because the picture quality was that good. The specs and picture quality on the Philips are better than anything else we could find in the under $2000 price range. The unit has an attractive and well made cabinet. The audio quality is the best of any of the HDTVs we looked at and will surprise you. There are ample ports for most gaming and home theater configurations. Initial setup was simple and only took a few minutes. The 29000 to 1 contrast ratio really makes for vivid deep colors. The 120Hz refresh rate and 2ms response make for smooth clear motion even when watching fast moving sports or action. One friend was so impressed they purchased one up on the way home (try explaining that one to the wife). We are very satisfied with our purchase. If you are looking for a LCD HDTV you owe it to yourself to check out the Philips.
