Description

Though not exactly 5.1 channel sound, The HTS8100 uses a host of technologies including array processing, precise Driver positioning and psycho-acoustic innovation to achieve the full surround sound performance that is 5.1 channel compatible. For the money, this is the most thought out piece of home entertainment system available on the market. One piece design without the hassle of running speaker wires around the room for surround effect. Ipod and MP3 adaptors for added entertainment value. Plays all types of DVD and CD formats that many high end players don't play. The powered subwoofer gives a good kick when watching action movies and listening to songs. Cost about 40% less than the BOSE 321 surround sound sytem with less features. Definitely a best buy.

Great overall product. Sound quality is top notch. I was worried it would echo, because I have a very wide open living room/dinning room/kitchen...but the amibsound setup really has settings for pretty much every type of room layout. Beautiful design and standard DVD upsacle to 1080 is great on the plasma. Cons - It wasn't very easy to wall mount especially with the wires in the back...however it was totally worth it. If you install the component video cables (I did for progressive scan) it is impossible to close the back cover. IPOD dock is really cool and interfaces well with the TV however it is black and comes with white inserts that lets you install all Ipod models. Not sure why they wouldn't make it all on color. Also the Ipod dock cord really can't be run behind a wall as the cord is too short (at least in my setup).... but I guess I can live with one cord. Ohya...and the wall bracket does not include screws/drywall hangers. None of these cons are enough to take away a star or not recommend this product. I love it!

To me the simple setup(no wires and multiple speakers), the way it looks mounted under my flat panel, the upconverting DVD and most of all the sound you can get out of this system is a no brainer and very well worth the money to me.

Excellent product for those of us without four walls surrounding our home theater system. The ambisound is easy to use right out of the box. It is powered by a cable that comes from the subwoofer, so you do not have to plug it into a wall outlet. It is very slim and stylish. On to the meat of this subject...the sound. The sound is superb. It really simulates surround to a degree that is almost as good as my old Sony STR-DE725 and full speaker set. It has many options to help you set it up correctly, including "wall on the right or wall on the left". The booming bass and superb speakers sound as good as being in a movie theater. The Ambisound also has a 1080p DVD player that looks great (depending on your TV set). It has a electronic sliding door that opens to reveal the DVD in a vertical position. Overall, I think that Philips has hit a home run with this product and it will do very well in the consumer market. You can't go wrong with the Ambisound
