Pros:

Reliable, Highly Compatible, Strong Connection Points, Improves Performance, Easy Set-up

Cons:

Not Configurable

Describe Yourself:

Value Oriented

Primary use:

Personal

Best Uses:

Moxi Hd Dvr

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Bought these devices for my Moxi HD DVR and Moxi Mate so that I could have almost-as-good-as-wired connectivity. Runs at apx 93Mbps (max for hardware is 100Mbs as the Moxi is 10/100 Ethernet) Plugged one in at router, one in bedroom down the hall and one downstairs. Plug-and-Play compatibility with any networked device, e.g. BluRay player, TV, X-Box360, PS3, that you want the reliability of a Wired connection.

Extend home network via coax

By Ken from Boston, MA on 12/21/2010

Pros:

Strong Connection Points, Durable Construction, Reliable

Primary use:

Personal

Best Uses:

Computer Equipment, Networking

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Instead of paying to have my (ether)network extended up to my office, I decided to try out this pair of ethernet-coax adapters. My primary goals were to A) replace wifi (weak signal), and B) stream high definition programs that I record on my mythtv server or capture from my hdhomerun. At first, I was getting choppy images and stuttering sound. After exhausting all troubleshooting (coax cable type, jumbo frames on switch, increased mtu), I realized it was the APP. So... High Def streams beautifully and my throughput is awesome. No perceived latency. Setup is extremely easy. Plug coax in where indicated. Plug ethernet in where indicated. Three lights, all green.

Simple Installation / Fast Throughput

By Phone Guy Verified Reviewer from Orlando, FL on 07/21/2009

Pros:

Cheaper Than Other Moca, Consistent Throughput

Cons:

Not Very Pretty

Best Uses:

Netflix Streaming, Hd Streaming

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

These adapters are cheaper than the other MoCA adapters available to consumers but they perform just as well. Since information on this new technology is scarce here are the things to look out for. Do not connect a cable modem to the coax output of these units. Use a splitter before these units if you want to connect a cable modem. Install one unit at an open port on your WAN router. Install the other unit(s) at existing cable outlets. I think you need a router at the far end outlets if you want to connect more than one device. I do not think a switch will suffice. I have only tested with one device on the far end. Throughput is roughly 70 Mbps in each direction as opposed to 95 Mbps real world performance you can get with a hardwired 100 Mbit connection.
