As seen above, the unit is well built - for a plastic-housed microphone, it feels almost impossible to cross-thread the battery & mic housings, so it's very solidly built, with good heft.
However, if the wireless receiver is on, but you turn off the microphone, there is a distinct (and rather loud) feedback output, which is quite disturbing. The switch on the base of the unit doesn't make it easy to hit standby without turning off the mic, so either way, you have to make sure you pot down the microphone input on the mixer board when not in use because a) you need to leave the mic on (using a few hours battery life for a few minutes use during a DJ session) or b) you have to make sure that if the unit is turned off inadvertantly, you don't blast the feedback thru the amp.
Maybe for other uses where the mic is on constantly this unit would work better, but in a DJ setting it's just one more thing to have to constantly watch over that one shouldn't have. A simple circuit of "no input frequency, mute the output" is all that it would take to make this a 5-star sub-$100 mic. Otherwise, 3 stars is the best I can do.
The sound quality is great otherwise, for for now I plan on using the microphone until I can afford a replacement that doesn't have this issue, or Audio Techinca comes out with a patch or modification to resolve this issue (I can solder).
