This ice maker is a piece of junk.
When I recieved the machine it showed signs of poor construction (the stamping for the floor plate was not square and had bad bends on the back.
The tubing and fixtures to hook it up to plumbing were a joke. Cheap plastic fittings that couldn't hold water. I went to Home Depot and got some quarter inch plastic tubing, and brass fittings to properly attach the unit to water. This worked.
Operation is somewhat noisy, but it does produce ample ice. It is not defrosting so it must occasionally be defrosted (twice in 4 monthe).
Then last week it sprung a leak. After removing the unit from the cabinet and partially dismanteling it I found out that the tube from the inlet valve to the ice tray came off the valve (just like the fitting on the inlet side of the valve). Got more brass fittings and triet to fix this leak. The problem this time is that the threads on the valve are plastic and I can't tighten them sufficiently to stop the fitting from leaking. Also while testing the unit for leaks I found that the fitting where the other end of this tube goes into the unit leaks. And this is some kind of plastic pressure fit item. Tomorrow I am calling Avanti (they are in Miami and close at 5pm Eastern time) for a fix.[...]
