I read about BitDefender in a recent article in MaximumPC. The article said it ran very fast. I have an old notebook computer (1.5 MHz, 512 MB RAM, 7200 RPM Hard Drive) running XP and Office 2003. The Norton Internet Security 2010 was about to expire and I thought I would try BitDefender in the hopes it would run faster than with NIS.
I was surprised to find it took 20 minutes to boot up after installing BitDefender. Another 20 minutes to allow a Western Digital Passport drive to come up, etc.
Bottom line, it is much slower than NIS 2010 (which I already thought was slow).
I have uninstalled BitDefender and will use Microsoft Security Essentials instead.
Bottom line, if you have an old computer BitDefender is not a good choice.
