I owned a Cobra previously that did most of what this one does, but the sensitivity of this radar detector is far superior. It actually compares now with my Escort 9500i in most situations. Previous detector would pick up road side radar signs about the time the radar would pick up the vehicle. It took me 2 days to find the sign this one picked up down one of the roads I drive on regularly because it was so far away. It is much better than previous models by far, but it also picks up X and K bands much better meaning non-threat alerts (probably only reason I don't give it 5 stars). This also happens when I put it next to another radar detector. I have City X and K turned on most of the time which only produces a single beep until the signal gets stronger. It's not too annoying. The speaker is much more pleasant on this detector, as well. Similar sounds to the old Cobra, but seems softer and not as "alerty". It lets you know of the threat without making you jump. The red light camera detection seems to be very accurate (even points to it). I now know of 3 more cameras I wasn't even aware of around my house and it picked up some that were just put there last month. I also keep my display on MPH which helps keep me in check since it's easier to see than my regular speedometer. Other people have said the radar ramp up time (threat level) is a little slow. I do notice this, but it's not terrible. Basically, if a radar turns in front of you, you will hear a beep immediately, but it may take around a second to get to full strength. I think this is just how they programmed it. I take all beeps serious anyway. Overall, I really like the radar detector. The screen is very easy to read and understand and it does a much better job than my previous radar. With all of the perks (GPS, Speed, Redlight, Caution Areas, Speed Traps, Great Radar Detection, etc), it's definitely worth the money. Beach Audio had a great price, too!!
