Ink gone quickly

By ron from Undisclosed on 07/19/2012

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Ink does not last long while printing. Have to purchase more ink cartridges too often. The Epson ink is too costly and not cost effective. Need better ink that lasts for the customer. Over priced ink.

My Artisan 810

By Hippie Comic from Blanchard OK on 06/09/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had, and still do, several printers, but the Artisan 810 surpasses all the others. It is a true all-in-one device. It was easy to set up and has a great interface. I have read other reviews that complain about the flimsiness of the paper tray and the CD printer tray, they are delicate, but if you treat it with gentle care, it works fine. The only problem I have is, when you are out of any particular ink, you cannot use it. This keeps you from scanning an item to your computer, even though you are not using any ink. Nor can you send a fax, when you are low on ink. There should be a way to bypass this. Otherwise it is fast, makes flawless pictures and is easy to use.

Not for the Artisan

By Big Ed from Folsom, CA on 04/29/2012

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

It's been 5 or 6 months since I purchased this printer and I am very disappointed. Every time I try to print on photo paper, it smears, won't print on window decal stock, or transparancies. Color is good, but ink will kill you. Lots of problems picking up paper from the tray, have to reload it a few times to get it right. Pros: easy to set up, easy read display.

Epson Artisan 810 All-in-One Printer

By Paulo from Brampton, ON on 02/25/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Overall great printer and scanner, works great wirelessly. Faxing is also great. Printing on a CD is also available. Works great on a Mac platform. Very easy to setup up.Ink has to be replaced pretty quickly. The only downfall is the flimsy paper trays.

Love, love, love it!!!

By browneyedgirl from Glendale, Arizona on 01/16/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

As an everyday printer this Artisan is the best. It meets the needs of everyone in the family...photos, creativity, business and personal needs. I recently used the outgoing fax and was impressed at how easy it was to set up and use for the first time. It prints excellent photos when I need something quick and don't want to use my more expensive Epson photo printer. I enjoy photography and I have used nothing but Epson since I started printing at home more than 10 years ago. Thank you Epson for continuing to provide excellent, reliable, affordable products!!!

scanner problem

By deb from Virginia on 01/07/2012

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I like my printer but find that without the capability to print only in black and white, I waste colored ink. Also I am unable to scan wireless although I am able to print wireless. I have developed a work around but it is very inconvenient.

By Lupe G. from Escondido, CA on 01/04/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This will be our 2ND printer, cause the first one broke down in less then 5 months so we were elg. for a new one. This 2nd one tells me the ink is low and i should order more or replace and the ink is full. So, i don't know what's wrong there? Other then that it's pretty fast and no jams yet :)

Artisan 810

By nnemad from Belleville. Il on 12/30/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I purchased this printer some time ago and just unpacked it this week. I was using a Epson 610 and was extremely happy with it. So happy that I was reluctant to take it down when it started having some problems. Having such good luck with the 610 is why I chose to go with the Artisan 810. Now that's ity's hooked up and on line I can say that it puts out more noise than the 610. As for as printing quality I haven't used it enough to rate it but what I've seen so far looks pretty good. I'm not really pleased with the out feed tray. I feel that Epson really cut corners on that part of the printer. My 610 had a substantial tray that was rugged and you didn't have to worry about breaking it of. I'm considering using a catch basket instead of the flimsy out feed tray that I know will get broke off in time. Epson had a great product in the 610 and I don't understand why they chose to cut some corners on their newer models. I only hope that this 810 will give me the same great service as my 610 did. I am a firm Epson lover and I hope to stay that way for a long time.

BEST EVER

By PrinterGuy from Sacramento, CA on 12/20/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've owned the Epson 810 over a year now and feel that this is the single most gratifying electronic purchase I have ever made. It has all the features I could imagine wanting and impresses me in every area: - FAX - ADF (Automatic Document Feeding) - CD/DVD Writer - Two Sided Printing - Separate tray for photos - WIFI - Easy Set Up - Easy to use - a pleasure to use - Software is excellent - Elegant to look at - Trouble free I've always purchased top of the line printers and scanners but this one does it all in about 1/3 the time of my previous machines. The paper and photo trays are a bit clunky but who cares - I love it. The designers should feel proud of this guy.

Epson Artisan 810

By Buck from Peoria, Arizona on 12/15/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have owned other all in one printers also has a CD tray. The Epson is fairly quit, easy to operate and (knock on wood) has been very reliable. The paper tray is plastic, weak, doesn't hold alot of paper and you can't see when your about to run out of paper.

The Epson Artisan 810 is ...

By Mike from Atlantic City, N.J. on 12/07/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The Epson Artisan 810 is a really excellent piece of equipment if you want really good clear sharp pictures and text copies. It faxes, copies, scans, prints photos. It also uses the SD memory chip in digital cameras so you can download pics right off your camera. The color cartridges can become expensive if you dont obtain them off the internet. It uses 6 different cartridges including Black and it wont work even for black copies if all the cartridges are not in place . I like how it works and the ease of operation of it. I really recommend it for anyone who wants an all around good quality printer/fax/copier/scanner

Artisan 810 All-in-One Printer

By clumsy1 from Los Angeles, CA. on 12/04/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The Epson 810 All-in-One Printer was the easiest setup experience I've ever had. My wireless connection was immediately recognized and I was making my first print within 1/2 hour of taking the unit out of the box! The 4 x 6 print was outstanding! I then used the copy function and it too worked like a champ. I haven't had to scan anything yet, but I'm certain it will perform just as efficiently. So far, I am completely satisfied and would highly recommend this product!

A 'Good' Different

By GrannyM from Ohio on 11/14/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I really like this printer. It has taken a bit to get used to...there are so many choices to be made for each print job. But it is a Good Different. This is my second one (that's the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) and it has done a great job. The first one I got was defective. But this one has done great and getting the replacement was quick & easy. The printing is very good and quick! I would recommend it.

Bad comes out as Grey

By Bravo from New York, NY on 10/17/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I would not buy this printer again. The main reason being the quality of the black ink. Text appears grey instead of black. I wasn't expecting laser printer quality of black, but this was pathetic. I would never use my printer to submit text if i had to give it to someone to read professionally I read this in a few other reviews and ignored what others said. I wish i didn't ignore them

Do not waste your money on this so called printer. It has been nothing but a source of frustration. It rarely has performed correctly. Most often it says its out of paper or wrong paper...maybe because of the sleazy construction of the paper drawer. The touch screen rots as well. It is shocking that it is on the market.

By DancinCat from Phoenix, AZ on 09/16/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I just installed this printer so my review will be somewhat limited for now..... First of all, right off the bat, this was the easiest printer install I have EVER had! I mean, I followed the instructions and everything worked the first time! The software "print test page" did not work but I tested it by printing something else and it printed right away...must be a glitch in the software. The page printed quickly and quietly and without paperjams :-) The wireless network setup was a snap! I used the wizzard and it found my network in less than a second. It connected in about 3 seconds although the software said it could take up to 5 minutes! It confirms you are connected and you are good to go! There is a pretty nice software bundle too. I can't wait to try out the scanner and the CD printing! This is by far the nicest printer I have owned :-)

Works As Advertised

By MyNicknameItsays from Bellingham,WA on 09/12/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have yet to print a picture on photo paper,so otherwise it works ok.It does as some people mentioned jam up on occasion. If I had a business I wouldn't buy anything this cheap anyway, duh. EPSON makes the best printers you can get as far as the "drivers":if you know what that means,go.This one apparently had a few glitches in manufacture,so It was "refurbished".For the price,it does a lot of different things ok. I printed a picture on regular paper,I wasn't impressed with the color either. But I've had a lot of printers, and None really impress me.they make copies,ok.It Faxes ok,copies ok,makes 2 sided copies ok,and ink costs too much for it.It's an Epson. They need to charge less for their ink.You can use "other ink" the warranty is void,so what.Nuff said. It works fine.

Finally, an All-in-One I respect

By Bigel from St. Leonard, MD on 09/09/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is the first All-in-One that truly is ALL IN ONE! The only con is that it ships with standard ink cartridges and quite a bit is used to prime the printer. Given the cost of Epson inks and that the printer needs to be primed, they should ship with high capacity cartridges. Beyond that, this is one superb printer. This is the first affordable printer I have seen with all the features I was looking for: excellent archival quality photos, very quiet, direct cd printing, duplex printing, two paper trays, WiFi, LAN, Fax, and a document feeder. Color reproduction is better than the Epson R280 that it replaced.

Customer Service Means Well, but...

By MikeyB from Concord CA on 09/01/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I received a replacement printer because my document feeder wouldn't work all of a sudden. I received the replacement printer today and was able to fax out two sets of 20 pages, but then when I tried to make a color copy via the ADF, I get the flashing screen display that there is a printer error and to turn it off and on again. This does not fix it. Now I have to deal with shipping this monster back to them to get a different one, right when I needed this machine the most. Customer Service is great, but it is voided by this terrible product.

Flmsy

By RO from Tennessee on 08/26/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Used for about six months, now. Pros - The machine makes good copies of photos and does a good job of correcting old photos. It also does a good job scaning. Ink cost and usage is reasonable. Cons - The ADF has started jamming every time - can't be used. It is a pain to load paper and misfeeds a lot. Won't pick up label type paper. I don't care for the touch pad controls, but his is a personal preference. I have used a lot of ink jet printers for business and at home. This printer is very flimsy and I couldn't recommend it.

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Love the print quality - the ink lasts forever, which considering the cost that is great...even the 'standard' size lasts forever...have had printer for almost 2 years and recently bought our 3rd set of ink cartridges and have done lots of printing - lots of photos and still lasts a long time...scanning is quick and easy - no problems with anything!

IT PRINTS BEAUTIFULLY , " BUT " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE HAD THIS PRINTER FOR ALMOST A YEAR . THE TOUCH SCREEN IS ALMOST TOTALLY USELESS ! THE TOUCH POINTS ' DO NOT ' STAY IN PLACE ! THEY ' KEEP SHIFTING ' EVERYTIME ! SO, I HAVE TO KEEP PRESSING ALL AROUND THE PLACE I WANT TO ACTIVATE , UNTIL I HIT SOMETHING THAT MAKES IT WORK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALSO , PLACING THE PAPER IN THE RIGHT PLACE IN THE SLOT , IS TOTALLY ANNOYING ! EVEN IF I LEAVE IT IN THE SAME POSITION THAT ONCE WORKED , IT ' STILL ' MESSES UP !!!!!!!!

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

since owning my Mac OSX snow Leopard I've had nothing but trouble. I have tried to get my printer to print photos from and also able to select Epson's photo paper. I have uninstalled just to reinstall the program Epson Was unsuccessful. Went to Mac and download updates and still was unable to get at some to print photos. So finally I went at some and downloaded drivers for my printer and was still unable to print a photo I tried first with the wireless and then later with the USB cable and the results were the same would not grant. Old in the past when I had a PC Epson photo with the best fantastic quality. However now using my Mac on having many problems, I have notified Texas Tech support by e-mail hoping that they can resolve this problem. When I purchase my Mac I asked the salesperson if Epson was compatible with Mac and I was assured that they were compatible. However I had begin a lot of problems concerning my Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Ink runs out too easily

By Cathy from Boston,MA on 08/13/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I bought this printer thinking I'd get quality photos. It has not produced high resolution photos so I stopped wasting the ink. Now I only print documents with a little art clip here and there and it STILL runs out of ink way to fast. I'm stumped on how that happens when I don't use it too often? Can ink evaporate? Seems like it with this unit.

Epson Artisan 810; Love it!

By MammyT from Tennessee on 08/10/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We have owned Epson printers since 1975. This one is the best. I am not pleased with the instruction guide on the web. I like my manuals included on the installation CD to look at when I need them. On the web? OK until you loose your connection. NOT SO GOOD. Set this printer up on the network with no problem. I have not done photos yet, but other quality printing did fine, just like my two other Epson printers perform. I especially like the Claria inks. I would recommend the Artisan printer to anyone who needs a machine that does it all with little space.

Excellent printer

Fantastic printer, very good quality and options. The 2 sided, auto feeder and trays works nicely. Printing from an individual picture in "my pictures" very, very slow. Display very helpful, with all choices lighted up. Copying from SD cards, very nice with choices. Excellent design, space needed correct for uses. Ink very expensive, should give a break to cust.

All in One

By All in One from North Hollywood California on 07/24/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

So far this printer has been the best one I've owned from Epson. It's my third printer I've bought on line from Epson and also the most expensive! Their refurbished printers are great as long as you understand you can't return them unless there's a problem with the unit upon arrival. I had problems with this unit but promptly returned it and was sent another one right away. No problems with the second one. The paper feed is even and runs smoothly. I like that it has an internal paper tray. The unit is wireless and has a great touch screen for programming. The printer is beautifully designed and the most important part is the actual print quality itself which is excellent. My last printer was an Epson CX9400 Fax. The paper never fed in evenly from the back of the printer or printed evenly. The unit itself was far noisier. The whole thing shook when it printed! So far I really love the Artisan 810 for personal use and would highly recommend it.

Bottom Line:

I was excited about the features of this printer and was not disappointed, initially. Now I have an automatic feeder that does not function without jamming - will have to call to get it fixed and issues with scanning to my PC (the printer keeps losing the wireless connection password). The printing is good and it will copy without the auto feeder.

Great printer!!! Th colors are precise and do not bleed. However, as the cartridge belt motor of the first Epson Artisan 800 got so slow it would not print, I was given the 810 as my replacement because I had a replacement plan. Not sure how long the 810 belt motor will last.

I just received this printer from Epson. It installed very easy, but it takes a while to install all the software, but well worth it. I set it up on my network so I can print from any computer in my houes. It prints great - very fast and makes great photos! I am replacing my photo printer and fax printer with this one. The duplexer also works great. I am very happy so far! I ordered external ink tanks, hopefully they will work well.

Not for Plain Paper

By el Tea from Minneapolis, MN on 06/23/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

When my Epson Stylus 4800 died, I bought the Artisan 810 as an upgrade. It has been a major disappointment. I wanted to print copies of short stories with color illustrations on paper that is in quality somewhere between generic office copy paper and the premium quality Epson papers. Prints made on medium quality paper made especially for color inkjet brochures are very dull on the color illustrations and the text is far from crisp or very black, even on best quality settings. Worst of all, when exposed to moisture, the ink runs all over the place. The advertising claims that the printer creates prints that are water, smudge, and fade resistant but there is no indication that this is only true on Photo paper. The images are beautiful on photo paper, indeed, but now I have to either print my short stories on lightweight premium 2-sided paper-if it even exists- or else purchase another printer that uses Durabright Inks when I already have a functioning printer with years left on an extended warrantee for equipment I will seldom use.

some flaws but prints great

By DON from Chicago on 06/02/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Big plus is it does printable DVD/CDs and can print on both sides of a paper, Scanning is great except for not being able to scan 1/8 Inch on the outer edges - so you have to place something you want totally scanned in the center of the glass plate and is is usually tilted after you scan because you can't align it along the edge causing you to realign it to be straight with another software program like Photoshop . Biggest thing I don't like is no paper feeder in the back to do any size paper easily , like christmas cards Instead you get stuck using an enclosed paper feeder inside the printer that you have to open and close each time you use it . So I don't do anything but print on single sheets of paper . reprinting on the same sheet would be a big chore . It's a great printer except for what I mentioned .

The document feeder works very well.

Artisan 810 AIO

By My New Toy In LBC from Long Beach, CA on 05/25/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I love the sleek style of the machine. I also love how fast the copies and prints are made. A few down falls: loudness of the noise it makes and the difficulty of changing the ink cartridges. I suffer from carpal tunnel: grasping/pinching, I also have long nails and my hands are big. It is difficult to get the cartridges out of the machine. Maybe a spring action that pops the cartridge out just enough to grab. But once I get past all that, the machine is wonderful!

An Excellent Printer

By C-Coaster from Northern Virginia on 05/24/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had this printer for about six months, and I am very well pleased with it. It has worked flawlessly, and the quality of its output when using high grade paper has been excellent. Replacing all six ink cartridges seems a bit pricey, but I have found that they have lasted a lot longer than the ones used with other brands of ink jet printers that I have used. One thing that I have found was that when printing on the Epson Premium Photo Paper, the resulting print is waterproof. This is not necessarily the case with printing on other substrates, however. As a test, I soaked an image in water printed on the paper mentioned above for about an hour, and when I took it out and dried it, it showed no signs of running. Photos printed at the high quality settings are indistinguishable with the naked eye from those printed photographically. The printer is quite fast, as well. One tip that may have been in the instructions and I missed it: When printing on a CD or DVD, it is much easier to load the discs of you tilt up the control panel fully.

Do not like

By Len from Pikesville, MD on 05/21/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I would never buy another Epson printer. Two reasons, it jams a-lot - in fact it in not possible to print two sided documents with color in it, the ink NEVER drys quicly enought and ALWAYS jam. Even black and whit print jams more than I beleive it should. Second: the paper has has a very small paper reserve. I seem to be constantly out of paper. I have a few other issues about the way it prints, but these are my two biggest problems.

An almost perfect printer

By Karith from Portland, OR on 05/11/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

It prints CDs. It prints over the network, including via WiFi. It prints over bluetooth. The output is beautiful in photo mode, and quite serviceable on lesser jobs. It prints duplex, envelopes, labels, and more. So whats not to like? Well, I have some medium weight card stock that wont feed, but most inkjets wont so thats no big deal. The real disappointment is that the Artisan 810 just shreds Avery Clean Edge cards, particularly the business card size. I use these cards for a variety of purposes, and the printer just chews them up and spits them out (if youre lucky). If youre not lucky, youre going to spend 20 minutes digging confetti out of your printer very carefully. Is it a problem? Well, kind of. My templates using the Avery cards are all custom-made and include cut lines (and I do have a quality paper cutter that takes very little more time and effort than using the perforations), but I have a large supply of the Avery stock I just cant use with this printer. I dont know if theres a market for it, but Epson could pretty easily produce a rear feed hopper to replace the duplexer that would almost certainly avoid the problem"my last printer had both a paper tray and a hopper. Id never put cards in the tray for fear theyd suffer the fate one observes with the Artisan 810. An otherwise perfect product with one limitation I find personally irritating. Otherwise, you will not regret this printer.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

By Allie from Poseyville, IN on 04/15/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This printer is absolutely worthless. It does not feed paper easily - especially not special sizes. The print quality, even on BEST PHOTO setting is blurry. It needs constant maintenance - head alignment, nozzle check, etc. The ink is way too expensive and doesn't last long enough. Overall, unacceptable. Please don't waste your money like I did.

Epson all in one 810

By Anonymous from Mass. on 04/03/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I like most everything about the printer so far except the paper tray is flimsy and heavier stock paper jams quite often. I haven't used the fax or copy options yet. This is a refurb. and the price was right, so I really can't complain. Wish the paper tray worked a little better, I haven't used photo paper on it yet and that is usually as thick as the stock that is jamming?

Standard but love the double-sided printing

By Yorkshire Pudding from Houston, TX on 03/29/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I gave this product four stars because I really like the double-sided printing. The biggest problem for me is the flimsy paper tray. I recycle paper a lot so every time I use recycled paper or pre-printed paper, I have to pull out the tray, which I think will fall apart in no time. (Comparing this product with my Espon Workforce 600, I now realize that I much prefer a top-load paper feeder.) The printer also randomly grabs two sheets at a time, and I use a range of paper from cheap paper to presentation quality paper (and sometimes light cardstock). I recently printed a few sheets of black and white photos on photo quality paper, which was disastrous. The ink bled everywhere like small teardrops - wasted so much ink! The printing quality is fine, but the Workforce prints much better on a high-quality setting. The Artisan is not terrible; it prints pretty fast, it doesn't seem to run out of ink all the time, and the double-sided printing is great. However, I probably wouldn't purchase another Artisan, and I bought this with a great deal by Epson.

Good stuff

By Lamini from Maryland on 03/06/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Been using this for about a year. I needed a product that could scan, do some printing, and a whole lot of CD printing. I was fortunate the model could also do wireless connections, to include blutooth (will work well with your laptop). The product comes with Epson PrintCD, which allows for basic CD labeling graphics, to include some templates. If there was an advanced version, I would pay for it, but it does what I need. Because its wireless, you can put it in a closet or somewhere away from your precious office space, and not need to deal with network cables. Product has built in memory card so you can store graphics there. CDs print in less than 1 minute. Would not recommend for bussiness or high volume printing (where laser printers rule).

i absolutley LOVE my artisan 810 the only problem is i have a two year old that loves pushing buttons i try to shut it off and unplug it but sometimes this doesnt work, the problem is it started printing but nothing would print so i shut it off for a few days and now it's printing but messed up i fixed the alignment and did a nozzle check and that's okay now but it is still printing very very light, the ink levels are somewhat low but im not sure that is the problem, i was looking online and saw that some printers have density levels (wondering could mine be low....?) If anyone can help please please please post answers i'll check back! Thanks

BigBoy

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

With limited experience on this printer I haven't experienced any trouble and it has performed very well. The expanded HELP features, "How To", is very helpful and immediately available should you need help. The print is crisp and the print speed is fast. So far I am very satisfied with the Artisan 810.

Feeder damaged

By RV from Houston, TX on 02/28/2011

Printer setup, ease of operation and all are good for the six months. Now the paper feeder is not working at all. Inks are too expensive and running out for low jobs. No option for refilling the ink cartridges.

Epson Artisan 810 Review

By Bob A from Black Diamond, WA on 02/27/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Printer prints great, however I needed customer support to get 2-sided operation to work. With excellent support from EPSON via phone I got printer to operate with my Apple Airport system. Color is great with the six different color ink cartridges. Operation is noisy, but efficient.

Best Printer

By Marie from San Diego, CA on 02/26/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Have had the all-in-one for some time now and have never had a problem with it. Prints great pictures, documents and scans fast and quiet. Only draw back is finding the 98 ink cartridges locally, no one seems to carry them here in San Diego although there are several dealers listed, when I go there, not to be found.

I really like my Epson ...

By Anonymous from Los Angeles, CA on 02/26/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I really like my Epson Artisan 810. I don't use color very often, and with my old printer, the cartridge would dry out and become unusable while it was still three quarters full. The Artisan uses a hint of color when you use black, to keep the nozzles open. The only drawbacks so far are: The paper feed pushes out two to ten sheets of paper at a time on some occasions, and the ink is horribly expensive. I'm told it is the highest of all, and if you don't need quality pictures, don't buy an Epson. But it does do everything and does it very well.

Fantastic Printer

By Jim B. from Irving, Texas on 02/25/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought this Artison 810 printer about 8 months ago. I had some trepidation about buying an All-in-One that is as feature laden as this one is (the Jack of all trades but good at none syndrome). I've also had two earlier printers that would print directly on CD/DVD disks I had no need to worry --- this printer has exceeded all my expectations and, so far, has been faultless with respect to quality. It does sound a bit clunky but fear not. The output of all types including high resolution photographs is superb. Another real plus is the ease with which one can change ink cartridges and the front loading of paper. Initially, I wasn't too interested in its FAX capabilities but, since it has the feature, I've now learned I don't won't to do without it. Other than the high cost of the consumables (ink), the only other negative from my viewpoint is that it doesn't scan photo negatives.

Print Quality is Good BUT

By Val in VA from Chatham, VA on 02/22/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I intended to use the printer in my home office, but water-based black ink was inappropriate for printing shipping labels or checks (the ink runs badly when mosit). I also miss a second paper tray - especially since the front paper tray is fussy to load. I discovered that you can print on card stock, but need to set a software option in order to feed the thicker stock. I still have this printer, but moved it out of my office.

Easy to use and great picture printing quality! I couldn't be happier with this printer! We use this machine for printing worksheets for the kids, making our own birthday (or any party) invitations and printing out quick updated photos of the kids to give to family and friends (and also for our own display around our home!) Printer is also very nice looking...ours is docked in our family room and its sleek black design doesn't mess with my decor so that makes me one happy housewife mama! Would definitely buy again (and recommend to others...actually I already have!!!)

I have now installed and uninstalled the Epson 310 Artisan disc FOUR times. After each, I try to print a page. It WILL NOT print the page. Because the printer AS A PRINTER is not in the list of PRINTER OPTIONS. It only allows the FAX operation. I can send a fax to anybody in the world! But the PRINTER OPTIONS don't include an option that allows me to PRINT!

Noisy & Quick To Have A Problem

By Kristina from South Carolina on 02/19/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I can't say that I like this printer much, though it does print quickly. It is very noisy and sounds like plastic gears grinding when it starts up and as it starts to print. It also grabs more than one sheet of paper to frequently, and struggles with card stock. The paper tray is flimsy and shallow, with a pinch-and-slide-unit that you must slide back and forth EACH time you add paper - and it looks and feels like it will break easily. The printed-sheet tray is poorly designed if you are making a large number of copies or printing a Workbook, as we are. The paper shoots right over the little fold-out ramp at the end of the holding platform, or splays pages to the sides. I also don't like the computer system in it that forces you to go through it's paces or steps for simple things (like just just pushing a button to turn it on for example). It has to ask a question and you have to touch the screen and select options. If the printer develops an error or problem, like needing color correction or trouble shooting and then locking up, you can forget just restarting it. You have to come here or revert to the manual and search out the steps needed to fix the issue. It prints nice and fast, but I sure wouldn't buy it again.

Epson 810 Printer

By MILO from Janesville, Wisconsin on 02/19/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I purchased an Epson 800 printer three years ago. I was amazed by the quality of the text and photo printing of this printer. The scanner stopped working. I called Epson support. Their concern was to take care of me and they did. I received an Artisan 810 all in one printer in two days. The 810 exceeds my expectations for quality. I am a Epson buyer because they not only have the best quality printers but they also have the best courtesy and service I have experienced. Epson, thank you for the perfection you give in your products and services.

The 810. sorely needed, worth the wait

By JazzmanDK from Gulfport, Florida on 02/16/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Unpacking this beauty was probably the hardest part of setting up. Tying it into my existing wireless betow4rk was a piece of cake. Running the Epson install softwars was also easy, albeit a bit time consuming. No matter, as this li'l darlin' has features for which I have lusted for years, including scanning to a .PDF. I'm anxious to try the CD thing, but will do some research (aka reading the manual) so that I don't screw it up. Altogether a home run for the epson folks, and given that they are already up to modelchange incorporated in the Artisan 835....wow. BTW...I have been an epson devotee since my early days with dot matrix printing. I still have an old LQ850 and a computer that will read the old epson character codeset. Bravo, you guys, and thank you! JazzmanDK (AKA Zip)

Epson Artisan 810

By Kelcraft from Topeka, ks on 02/15/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not a good choice. It is common that when sending items to be printed that the copies are blank. The common problem is that the nozzles are plugged. It takes one or two cycles to clear the nozzles in order to get decent copies. It takes several minutes to clear the nozzles and wastes a lot of toner during the cleaning process. It does do a decent job when the nozzles aren't plugged.

Just received my Artisan 810. Wireless installation was impressively simple and effective. You should know your SSID but it'll list any that it finds to prompt you and you must have your keyphrase. That's it. The rest is simple - including the fax setup. The print wizard is very intuitive and easy to set up your default settings. The entire setup took 15 minutes. Printed several documents, text and mixed text + images - simplex & duplex - all came out very quick, clean and sharp. A great printer - especially at the promotional price.

Color smears and paper feed Problems

By Graybeard32 from Florida on 02/11/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Prints on High Gloss Heavy photo paper have color smears. On repeated prints, the smears are in the same places, sometimes larger and sometimes smaller. Tried printing same image with same paper on my other printer, with beautiful results. The paper used was NOT made by Epson. If this is a problem, I would like to know why! The smears do not appear on plain white paper. Also, sometimes, had to load only one sheet to prevent printing about 2 inches on one sheet and the rest of the image on a second sheet. However, when the printer does work correctly, the images are magnificant. Everything else works great, and the wireless operation was easy to setup. If the smear can be fixed, it is probably the best printer that I have ever owned.

I would recommend using 24 pound copy paper in the printer to eliminate potential paper jams.We are VERY satisfied with the Artisan 810 printer.

At first glance I was impressed. Then I got it operating, and I like it. The big reason I settled for this unit was the cd/dvd direct printing ability. While the documentation isn't very good at this, I did find the cd/dvd printing plate, and it is good. I also like the software for the cd printing, as it includes the coverinserts and the ability to scan and paste to print. All in all, Well worth the buy

Good, Solid Printer

By Alex from Atlanta, GA on 02/09/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I just got this printer today after spending many hours researching for just the right one. The thing is, everything went smooth when I was installing the operating disk and setting up the printer but, once it was done and the printer screen indicated my wireless signal was up and strong, I assumed printing was ready to go - not so. Apparently, the printer and my laptop were not communicating. I tried re-installing the operating disk and it still won't communicate, so, I have to "hook up" to my wireless printer in order to print - go figure! Otherwise, I'm totally into this printer and I'm sure I can figure out the wireless issue - eventually.

My last two printers only ...

By rocket88 from Springfield, Oregon on 02/07/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My last two printers only lasted about two years each before having issues and they were both popular models from a well known brand. They took up tons of space on my hard drive, slowed the boot-up process and I never liked the software. After a few months of use, this printer is much better than I anticipated. Easy to understand and use--just very friendly. Time will tell if it ends up being reliable over the long haul. I've had only one issue to date. Sometimes it feeds more than one sheet of paper at a time. Could be the heavyweight paper that I have reams of.

Great printer...but

By clay007 from Chambersburg, Pa on 02/05/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Love the features and it's a very quick printing printer. The only problem that I've had is the paper feed. Any time you change/add paper then print it'll feed 2-3 pages at the same time. Took 18 pages of paper to print a three page report correctly. Pages of print would overlap. But then it seems to feed correctly and no other problems... Change or add paper and same feed problems occur again. Other than that I love it. Great printer and features. Kids love the coloring book feature.

By Shipmate from Boston, MA on 02/05/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Have had this printer for about 2 weeks and I like it but, consisant with other reviews that I have read, two issues have been noted. The paper handling portions of the printer--both input and output, are quite flimsy. While they have not broken it seems clear that care needs to be taken to protect them or else they will. The other item is the tendency to pull two sheets of paper when printing. This has happened a few times, but it seems to becoming less frequent. I really like everything else about it including setup, wireless and ability to print very nice photographs and text documents.

Great all-in-one! Recommended!

By Epson1648 from Jacksonville, FL on 02/01/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I acquired the EPSON Artisan 810 as a replacement for my aging EPSON Stylus RX600 all-in-one, and I'm delighted with the purchase. As a home user, I don't use the print capabilities very often; rather, I use the scanner (for archiving many documents and photos from my late parents' estate) and CD printer functions (for labeling CDs). Scanner performance is stellar, with plenty of control over quality available through the software provided. (Someone new to EPSON scanners may find that gaining proficiency takes a little time.) I was pleased to see that the scanner operates both more quickly and more quietly than the RX600. The ADF (automatic document feeder) works well and has improved my productivity by eliminating need for manual loading of paper documents I want to scan. CD printer feature is pretty cool as far as I'm concerned, although some may consider this a bit of fluff. Still, for me, it's nice to be able to create and print CD labels that include a photo of the original album cover. I've noticed the printer prints documents more quickly and quietly than the RX600, although printed paper flies out of the machine with sufficient energy that it regularly falls to the floor--which is no biggie to me, but might be disconcerting to someone else. I can't offer any feedback on photo print capabilities because I use outside photo print services. Also, I can't really address faxing capabilities because I haven't used them yet. It's worth mentioning that, while the Artisan 810 delivers greater functionality than the older RX600, it does so in a more stylish and compact unit. For someone with usage requirements similar to mine, I can recommend the Artisan 810 without hesitation.

Artisan 810

By Donna from Oregon on 01/31/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

All-in-one is a comprehensive name, and this printer actually does more than I had anticipated. I was especially pleased at the ease with which it prints CD labels. The scanning, copying, and printing were familiar and expected, and of good quality. I appreciate also the direct and clear instructions for all functions. I haven't tried to print highest quality photos and artwork, but I assume there will be no problem there.

Not for a Mac- paper jams & problems

By Niffer from Minneapolis on 01/31/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I've had this printer for 8 months now and would love to throw it into a wall. The paper consistently jams on multiple prints. ESPECIALLY with card stock (even on the thick paper setting). I've had issues having it jam with Epson photo paper (the only kind that works in this thing). I can't print more than 10 at a time with out a misfeed or jamming. Printing a large job is a major headache. I do like the color and print quality when it works. And now that I've updated to SnowLeopard on my macbook the printer is basically useless. It can only print documents and I have difficulties getting the WiFi to work consistently. Paper jams, lots of money down the tubes and don't even get me started about the envelopes!

Artisan 810

By Hanale from California on 01/30/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've been using this product for a couple days. The reason for choosing this printer was for it's direct to cd printing, fax, photo, copy, wifi and ePrint capabilities. The prints are OK on plain paper. Printing a web page with pictures on plain paper seem to have a light film look to it, but it prints fast. You can set the printer for darker printing via print setting. Faxing through my Magic Jack worked flawlessly although when I did a fax line check it did fail for quality of the signal. Either way faxing through the Magic Jack worked without a hitch. Direct to CD printing works, but took a little while to figure out how to make it work with disklabel on my mac. Every computer in the house prints wirelessly to the printer with no problems. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't print direct to the printer with my iPad via ePrint without using another app. You have to Download a third party app onto the iPad called PrintJinni to print direct to Epson printers. Even with this app you have to send an email to yourself with the attached document you want printed and print through Printjinni. It does work don't get me wrong. I just wish it was without another app on the iPad. Photo prints are outstanding on premium photo glossy paper. There's no doubt this is a great photo printer. All the colors of the original digital photos of my daughters wedding in Hawaii where well represented with the prints from this printer. The prints seem to be exact replica's of the oringinal photo's on my computer. I can't say enough about the photo quality. Copy from the flat bed works fine. I only copied black and white receipts for my expense reporting. The touch panel is my favorite part of using this printer. It's easy to use even for my wife. It's well laid out, so you can start the basic function quickly and easily. I also like the way the paper feed tray and the output tray folds closed so no dust gets into the roller mechanism. I normally blame the dust on the roller mechanism for the failure to pull the paper through the system after a year of use. I do wish the black cartridge was bigger, so I don't have to change that as often since most of the prints in this house are black text doc's.

Well, so far so good. I set it up this afternoon. It was fairly easy. I just had to make sure that I did not plug in the USB cable until prompted, as well as, not loading paper until prompted. Print image is good, color is good. I love the color display. Other than that. So far so good!

Artisan 810

By jerrryr from Aventura FL on 01/29/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is without a doubt the best printer I have ever owned. If there is a fault it is the fact that it refuses or penalizes me when I use another brand of paper that is not Epson. That is unfair and was never mentioned to be when I purchased my printer from Epson. For a first quality probuct that is really a low blow and a big negative. If you have enough faith in my liking your product that is the pits. Maybe there is a change I can make to my printer that would stop it from penalizing me when I use my preseent supply of Photo paper. Other than that it is great and does a first class job. Help me fix my problem. Thanks. Otherwise I will not consider you again if there is another product available that is similar.

Love this printer!

By happyprinter from Texas on 01/28/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've been using my new Artison 810 for about a week now and just love it. I was surprised it arrived so quickly (less than a week). Set-up was a breeze. I set it up wirelessly on our home network and three computers, all in less than an hour! I am very, very pleased with the print quality. Even on draft, the print is clear and easy to read, and is square on the page. That may sound odd, but my last printer rarely printed square on the page. And the print quality of photos is amazing - definitely ultra HD. This is the first Epson printer I have owned, but if the Artison 810 continues to perform this well, it's safe to say Epson will be the only brand I buy from now on.

Hard to beat...

By imfallen_angel from Ottawa, Canada on 01/26/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've had mine for over a year. The faults are not many, I'd say that another paper tray so that one can have the photo paper and regular paper without having to switch would be a huge bonus, and a manual feed for thick paper would also be a great improvement. How good is it? as the 835 is out, the 810 is being sold on sale, at a price that is so good that I simply bought a second machine is case something was to break on mine. I don't believe that anyone can make a better machine for many years to come. How simple is it? my kids have been able to take to it instantly. How's the quality? Pictures are amazing. But printing photos on regular paper is not at all recommended, but graphics are fine. But I consider this printer as a photo machine, so printing in regular paper is limited. The duplex, fax capacity, scanning, have all been easy and great. As this printer was an upgrade from a R200, the speed difference is amazing. Overall, I have recommended this printer to everyone looking for a new printer, as I'm used to Epson's quality and know that I've never had regrets. I've even had to built an extension to my desk, and part of it was to custom built a space for it as I regard this printer to be part of the "family" for a long time.

Complicated to understand

By ruby2zdy from Washington state on 01/24/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

They should provide you with a USB cable. If they won't do that, they should at least tell you what kind of cable to get. Some people don't know one kind from another. Loading an envelope is a pain, unless it can be loaded into the photo tray, which I haven't tried. Their instructions for loading paper include taking the paper tray and paper out & changing the guides, which is medieval. It's really noisy when it's getting ready to print. One positive thing: It prints at the speed of light. It prints the first page first. I can't find a way to make it print the last page first so I won't have to sort them after all are printed. The paper catcher tray appears to be of low quality. I haven't trired faxing or photoprinting yet. I imagine they're going to be as confusing as everything else.

Just received the Artisian 810 and so far I'm quite impressed with the style, smoothness of function and professional print results. Printer is fairly easy to set up for wireless operation (just follow the insrtuctions) and it works from anywhere in the house (as it should). I also lke the multi-function paper tray as it gets the paper out of the way and is more like an office environment printer. So I say "so far, so good". I just hope this one lasts longer than my previous Epson printer.

OK FINALLY a printer that does what they say! Like most of you, I too have had many printers... too many to mention, but this 810 without a doubt has the best color quality of any of them. I especially like the aspect of printing custom CD labels that look very professional. Setup was a breeze. I bought a warrantee for this unit because if anything should happen to this and it dies and early death I will be able to get another one right away. Scanning was always a problem for me in the past since I have Apple Mac Pro computers, but the 810 makes it a breeze. Progress in printing...ahhh.

Better

By Big from Jersey City, NJ on 01/14/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I had the 800, which was slow to start, sucked ink like crazy, scanned poorly and was something of a let down. I bought it right after it came out and was blown away by the touchpanel and overall look, but it never lived up to the hype. It died after 2 years from some sort of electrical problem. Again, a big letdown. But I needed a printer quick and the 810 was on sale so I thought I'd give Epson 1 more chance. The 810 has been an improvement overall, but it will take more time for an overall assessment. This seems to print faster. Wifi setup was simple. Touchpanel is still cool. DVD printing is still a big plus. I know the 835 just came out, but I'm not sure what the improvements were. The 810 seems a solid choice for now. However, if it goes like the last one, that's it for Epson. -E

Love my Epson Artisan 810 printer!

By New Fan of Epson from New Freedom, PA on 01/13/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I never owned a Epson printer before. This is my first and I'm so glad I did my due deligence and bought one of the best. This printer is so nice....it was easy to set up (everything was marked clearly), easy to install the wireless, very easy to use, it prints excellent pictures and paper copies, much quieter than my previous printer (another company) and it prints pretty fast. I did have a problem where I could not print at the same time if I was on the internet. I use a Sprint USB card and received a message stating 2 wireless ports could not be connected at the same time. I discovered, though, that by connecting to the internet by right clicking on the Mobile (under Network connections) and connect...it was a snap! (I had been connecting using the connection card) No problems printing while on or off the internet.

Did not need the installation cd . The paper tray is fragile in my opinion but I dont have any kids around to harm it. I have 3 computers, and my iphone all printing wirelessly so I am happy so far.

Well, that's my comments. I hope EPSON would fix this feature. Automatic Feeding is OK speed, not faster than the laser one at my work place.

Great machine. Very fast printing of photos. Ten seconds for 4x6's. The scanner is excellent for making scans of photos. High quality scans. Very easy setup, straightforward instructions for everything BUT printing CD's. That is the only downside. I would highly recommend this printer.

This is first printer in six years. We were amazed at what it can do, faxing, photo coping, two side copies, multi page feed and much more. The color is great and the fact that its wireless is just great, the printer does not have to be next to the computer, and I can print from my note book.

Epson printers are a must for anyone that uses LR or PS in their work flow; the ink, paper, and ICC profiles seem to render the best at home results. Some complain of a poor paper tray build. Yes it could be a bit beefier but I dont have any issues with it "it just holds paper after all. Pros. -Awesome support -excellent print jobs -auto duplexing - Wifi -and its all-in-one. Cons. Have not found any yet.

Best AIO I've ever had

By GMShier from Toronto, ON on 01/06/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Having started in the printer world many moons ago with some discount printing units (at one point I was buying new printers instead of ink replacements for cost reasons), I have recently moved to higher end inkjet or laser printers and in the past 5 years have been content with a good competitive models, thinking that they were all I would need for my residential purposes. A family member who dabbles in photography told me years ago about the quality of the Epson printer he has, but being it was a professional model I doubted I could afford that quality. WRONG I purchased the Artisan 810 two weeks ago and cant tell you how much its changed the printing patterns in our house. This printer prints WISYWIG from the source. No more telling granny that the orange shirt is actually red! I read somewhere that it was not the easiest printer in the world to set upwrong. I spent a half hour setting it up and its now networked wirelessly in the house and its the default printer for all the units in the house " 30 minutes seems long to some, but I had never set up anything on our home network before, I think its great time actually! All in all Epson, I am delighted with my purchase. Thank you

Disappointment

By Anonymous from Virginia on 01/05/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I had owned an Epson previously and was very happy with it, but I am disappointed in the Artisan 810 All-in-One printer. My biggest complaint is the paper tray. It is very flimsy and always feeds an extra sheet through the printer. Also, the output tray is even flimsier and has to be pushed in every time you want to add paper. If I could return it, I would most definitely!

Very Pleased

By MoniD from Phila, PA on 01/05/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've only had my Epson Artison for about a week, but so far I am quite pleased with it. The scans are quick, quiet and great quality and I love that it has the option to scan directly to pdf too. The photo printing is very clean and quick too. I def want to give it 5 stars but I gave it 4 just because I am having a little trouble printing borderless with design projects on regular letter size paper (not photos...I figured out how to do that) and I'm getting a few lines show up on card stock paper too, but I'm sure there is a paper quality setting that I just haven't found yet. I love the touch screen and the paper feed tray! Set did not take too long and was very straightforward. Looking forward to using it more!

Good printer but some problems

By fwaid from Victor, NY on 01/05/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I purchased this All-in-one less than a year ago and loved it until it recently stopped working. For whatever reason it says that the paper tray is not in the printer and won't print. I have checked for jammed paper, any obstruction in the path of the paper tray, any parts that may have broken off, and have even replaced the paper tray with one from an Artisan 725 (same tray). Now it's just a boat anchor as far as I'm concerned. Out of warranty and it would cost more to have it sent and repaired than it would to buy another printer. I'm not sure I'd buy another from Epson.

Artisan 810 Excellent

By Dave from Ontario, Canada on 01/04/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The Artisan 810 all-in-one that we got for Christmas 2010 is our 3rd Epson printer in 15 years. We have always relied on Epson for our home printing needs and find that with each printer our expectations are being met and exceeded! The Artisan 810 is the fastest ink-jet printer I have ever seen. The installation and wireless connecting were effortless. The photos that it prints are fast and accurate in detail and colour. The automatic scanner/copier feed is a very nice feature. The software that comes with it is very good and in minutes I had created and printed background and text on a printable DVD. The scanner and copier interface can be used on the printer or through your computer. Excellent all-in-one and we are very happy that we purchased the Artisan 810.

Feeding my Fear

By fppilot from Irvine, CA on 01/03/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

After a couple of years of frustration at my Epson R320 printer's stubborn refusal to reliably feed everyday normal paper, I was reluctant, despite my loyalty to Epson's superior photo printing, to replace it with another Epson printer. However, I was captivated by the Artisan 810's match for the features I wanted. Crisp professional looking photo prints, memory card ports, automatic two-sided (duplex) printing, direct CD/DVD printing, and auto document feeder for the copy/scan/fax features. All was well for about 60 days, but then without warning the document feeder began to refuse to completely feed documents. It pulls the sheet partway in, but now fails 100% of the time when it attempts to advance the sheet across the scanning bed. Epson agreed to replace the printer, but with only 60 days of use from a printer I expected to last for years, I am once again skeptical about Epson reliability in its feeding mechanisms. The R320 problem I illustrated in my opening comments is well documented on the web.

I love this printer for the quality of pictures and also CD printing. It is dramatic. I still am trying to solve some of my wireless problems. My wireless network is a little flaky, cutting in and out. I finally connected a USB cord to print my CD labels. I always struggle with wireless, so I'm not blaming the product. For those not as challenged as I with the wireless problems, I'm sure you will love this printer.

Artisan 810 is a winner!

By Jack from Nashville, TN on 01/01/2011

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

After some very frustrating hours getting my MacBook Pro (OS 10.6 Snow Tiger) to be able to wirelessly scan on the 810, I came across a third party post that solved the problem on the first try. It doesn't say much for your owner's manual, Epson. After that, the 810 was absolutely flawless. I would buy it all over again, even with the so-called manual. It's also a really good buy, especially if you time your purchase to one of Epson's frequent sales. All-in-all, I rate the 810 a 10. I rate the manual a 6. Buy this all-in-one.

Artisian 810

Bottom Line:

This unit was a real surprise at how quickly it was setup both in my wired network and wirelessly to a netbook. I have had many Epson printers in the passed and was always very happy But when I changed to Win 7 64bit my tried and true Epson scanner was no longer usable forcing the need to update my scanner or an all-i-one, so after careful looking at many reviews I settled on this 810 that fits all my needs and then some. So far this unit has done nothing but impressed me. I can't wait for the need to use the fax part of the system everything else works flawlessly. Great product again Epson.

Paper Feed Problems

By Anonymous from Boulder, CO on 12/30/2010

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I've had this printer for about a year and have had problems with the paper not feeding properly. It feeds multiple sheets instead of one sheet and jams the printer. If I try to print on presentation paper it won't feed at all. The printer is good in all other respects but I'm getting rid of it because I spend hours trying to print one greeting card. This is my first Epson printer and it will be my last.

Epson Artisan 810 printer

By Janzl from Newtown, CT on 12/30/2010

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The setup for this printer is just about as easy as it gets. It's also very nice-looking and doesn't take up too much space on a desk. I began using the printer for photos -- and they looked fantastic!! Commercially produced photos don't look nearly as good, so I was very impressed. As I have read in other reviews of Epson printers, it certainly does use an extraordinary amount of ink. That is apparently the trade-off, since the other brand printers I've used haven't gone through nearly as much ink -- but the photos don't compare in any way, either. It all boils down to which is more important. My suggestion would be to do as I did -- order extra ink cartridges along with the printer so you have at least one extra of each color. It helps!

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Photo printing from the 810 is excellent - couldn't ask for anything better. Pictures are rich, crisp and just like prints from a photo store. Scanning and document printing are also very good. I have had problems with the document feeder. This is the second 800 series printer I've had where the document feeder has broken and no longer works. The printer is now out of warranty but because the print quality is so good, I'll just deal with the feeder issue until it is time for a new printer.

Epson 810

By Red from Southern Calif. on 12/29/2010

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Epson had a special sale and I was able to purchase the printer at a serious discount. Basically a good printer (performance wise) with easy and straight forward software installation. Printer was set-up for network use in a mixed OS environment to good result. Print times for quality text, color and graphic printing good. Have not tried photo printing yet. Only negative so far is that the plastic casing feels flimsy and cheap (had I actually examined an in-store model before hand, I probably would not have purchased due to flimsy build) and I wonder how the printer will fair over time and use, thus my 3-star rating.

Good n bad

By Mike from Yonkers, NY on 12/28/2010

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Printer is phenomenal, color are true to what I see on the PC screen. Its quiet and vert fast as well. 5 ink cartridges instead of three is a trade off... better color, but more expense. Scan and fax capabilities as well as WiFi make it the perfect machine for small business, family home or pretty much anything. Only glitch that stops it from getting a perfect 5 is short time ago it lost the ability to read any cards. I insert a card and try to print from the card but it says insert card, it doesn't see it. I'll be calling either tech support to fix or replace this. I hope it can be fixed. For the record, my laptop also doesn't see the card but my wifes laptop does, so it isn't the card.

We've actually owned it for 9 months and I absolutely LOVE IT! The quality of printing, scanning, faxing is incredible. Never thought we would need an all-in-one but I can't live without it now. We live in a very remote area so I need to fax documents to get projects going and this does the trick. We have lots of old family photos and I'm enjoying scanning them and getting them organized. Just today I went ahead and set up the WiFi connection. For a non-technical senior citizen it took me a while but its works great. Perfect all-in-one!

I would have given this printer 5 stars if it wasn't so diffcult to load envelopes. Having to take out the tray and paper to load the envelope, print, reload the paper is a waste of time. Why not have a small tray for envelopes or be able to use the small photo tray for envelopes. The printer works great. I replaced a RX700 with this one and I am very pleased with all features.

I was looking for something that was both wireless & could do "on-CD/DD printing". I ordered this at 7AM on Monday. By 10AM I received a shipping notice & recieved the printer on Wednesday. Obviously super fast service. the printer was very easy to set-up on my hoe network. I've tested printing from all my computers with success everytime. Also printed photos from my iPhone with great results! The photo quality of the prints is excelent..PLUS it only takes a few seconds to print 4x6's & 5x7's. I'm looking forward to doing some CD printing & also printing from my iPad (when I get it on Christmas) I am impressed with the over all ease & high quality of this printer. Now I can print from my 5 computers, 3 iPhones & 2 iPads! What more could a guy want?

Epson 810 - dreck

By pKoz from Stoughton, MA on 12/23/2010

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I have been working with and using computers and printers for over 40 years. I have owned at least one of virtually every brand of printer on the market. This is NOT my first Epson, but it may well be my last. This machine is extremely poorly designed. The paper handling is awful. I just cleared a jam where the machine picked up more than 5 pieces of paper at once. There is no easy way to feed a single envelope into the machine. Because of the way the paper is turned upside down you cannot print on 65lb or higher stock without removing the paper handler and manually "catching" the feed at the right time. This is without a doubt the worst piece of equipment I have every purchased and I would not recommend it to my worst enemy. If Epson would like to purchase it back, please let me know. I would LOVE to sell it and buy something that better meets my needs.

Love the Artisan 810!

By June from Wyoming on 12/22/2010

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

First of all, thank you to the person who posted the video about set up and use of the Artisan 810 -- it made a huge impact on my decision to purchase one! So far, I have used the Artisan 810 to scan documents and photos and to print documents and photos from my computer. I have been extremely pleased with the quality of this printer. I have another Epson printer and while it did an okay job on some photo print projects, the Artisan 810 far surpasses it. My photos print just as they look on my screen! I purchased the premium luster paper and the quality compares well with Professional Prints I have ordered from a website well known for its high quality prints. There are some differences in the paper, but again, for most work the Premium Luster paper is very nice. I love being able to print wirelessly! The selection screen is great. I like that I can raise the screen to see it more clearly and that it lowers to be out of the way. I have already highly recommended this printer to other amateur photographers!

This printer is driving me crazy

By Painterlady from Michigan on 12/21/2010

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Although this printer prints high quality prints and can do several other neat functions, like copying and printing graph paper, etc.... it cannot handle paper properly AT ALL. It continually misfeeds several sheets of paper at once and cannot handle specialty papers well. It just can't. I print checks from my computer and I also print labels and things and this printer just can't seem to feed specialty papers correctly. I had an old Epson 1280 that I loved and it handled any paper beautifully. Also, any time you want to switch papers, you have to take the paper tray out, put the paper in and put the tray back. The design of the tray makes this a hassle. I hate this printer for that reason. It's driving me crazy. The edges of the paper tray have already broken off. Just a very poor design.

Awesome printer for the price. Love the features and the fast response with the wireless. Saves from having alot of cat5e running around the house. I cannot find a downside to this printer. I am finding that I like this printer more then any of the epsons I have owned in the past. The print quality is also by far the best I have seen it trumps other high quality printers I have used.

A true 'artisan.'

By Temlakos from Short Hills, NJ on 12/20/2010

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The Epson Artisan 810 is aptly-named; it does everything one can reasonably ask of a color-inkjet printer, yet won't break your budget--or your back, either. The printer is incredibly lightweight for all its capabilities. Installation is a snap, whatever the mode. One might wish for a more-complete owner's manual; this is now housed out of Epson's own Website, but that's easy enough to find with any Web browser. The touch-screen flat control panel eliminates a lot of moving parts. Why the CD Tray extender switch is still mechanical, only Epson will be able to explain; it ought to be a touch-screen panel option, like the routines for printing photographs, copying, etc. (The power switch is different; that *has* to be mechanical.) Every other option is accessible through the panel, or from any computer, whether connected directly or through the network. (Users of open-source operating systems, take heart: Unix's CUPS has good drivers for this printer, and they work almost flawlessly. The only thing you can't do is check ink levels, so remember to check them on the printer itself.) Duplexing takes a fraction of the time that a manual reload would have taken. One can easily set duplexing for long-edge or short-edge, either by default or job-to-job. CD/DVD printing produces the same crisp, vibrant colors that are available on any other job. Best yet, the printer will handle virtually any size of paper, and (except when you're using legal paper) you can close up the output slot and keep dust out when you shut the printer down for the night. (Just remember to open it and pull out the output tray before your workday begins!)

Love our new Epson 810 All-in-One!

By shmoores from Pensacola, FL on 12/20/2010

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We are very pleased with our new Epson 810 All-in-One Printer. Set up was a breeze, and the panel is very easy to navigate to different applications. We have printed documents, flyers and photos so far and are delighted with the professional quality of the end product. We have also done quite a bit of copying on it and it is almost like using a regular copy machine. This machine will also collate and can produce not only 8 1/2 " x 11" but 8 1/2 x14 as well. The down side for us is that if you run low or out of one color you are dead in the water until you replace that cartridge, so our advice is to keep extras on hand. The plus is that the cartridges are not unreasonably priced considering the superior quality of the prints. Also, our touch screen does not respond easily to the touch. Don't know if this is true for all of them or just the one we happened to buy. Overall I would definitely recommend this printer to anyone for their home or office use.

The 810 is a love/hate ...

By Bob from Santa Rosa, CA on 12/18/2010

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The 810 is a love/hate item. I had a 595 which was excellent but a pain to print DVD's. I bought an 810 in Oct., 2009. Worked at first. Then the ATC failed & DVD's in spite of correction efforts would print small from control panel. Worked ok from PC. It finally wouldn't print, since paper would only advance about 1" & jam warning would appear. Don't like changed 810 paper feed. Call me stupid, but I needed printer & I do like some of the 810 features, so I bought a new 810 from EPSON. So far it has worked satisfactorily, but my fingers are crossed.

Great Product!

By Melvin from Concord, CA on 12/18/2010

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We were extremely pleased with all the features that this product provides. We were able to print a two sided card from a greeting card software with the touch of a button, no more turning the paper over to print on the other side. As soon as we got it we needed to fax a document and with the touch display this was easy and painless. The photo quality is one of the best we have seen, puts photo lab to shame! Make sure you use a good quality photo paper for your photo printing because we tried printing on low grade photo paper and it did not do the printer justice. Setting up this printer on a wireless network was easy just make sure you follow the directions included with the product. The wireless connectivity allowed us to connect all three computers in our home to it, making it extremely convenient to print to. From the printer itself we were able to scan a document and save it to any computer in the house using the touch screen. We would reccomend the Epson Artison 810 printer to anyone looking for a good all in one printer.

paper tray

By terristurf from United States on 12/17/2010

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I love my 810 printer, BUT, I wish it had a top-loading paper holder. Why? Envelopes mainly. Taking the tray out, adjusting the size, and a big pain when trying to print from mail merge. It only holds only a few envelopes, and then I have to remove the tray and insert more envelopes. My last Epson had a top loader, and as soon as the 10-15 envelopes got down to one, I could insert more, with out interuption. I could do 100 envelopes in just a few minutes. With the 810 paper tray, it takes forever. Top-loader also will take thicker paper, and it doesn't have to do a complete roll.

Epson Artisan 810

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Very attractive machine and I'm loving the touch pad. My only disappointment came when I tried to print photos. They were blurry and the ink smeared. I called tech support and they recommended I purchase Epson paper. That was annoying as you should be able to use any paper, not have to buy more Epson products. BUT, it worked! I was shocked. The photos came out beautiful.

IT'S MOSTLY OKAY

By Lobsterman from Burnsville, MN on 12/16/2010

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I've had the 810 for about 8 months, and I've tried most of the features (no FAXing). I've been very happy with the regular printing, copying, and scanning functions (both color and B&W). I am very fussy about photographs that I print, and I have not been happy with the photo printing. Maybe the issue is between my computer and the printer, but it sometimes is quite a chore (and changes/edits with my photoshop program) to get pictures to print with the same colors that I am seeing on my computer screen. And sometimes the printed photos look a little grainy. I've also had some frustration with the printer grabbing more than one sheet of paper from the paper tray (both regular paper and photo paper).

Works Great

By Bob from Bonita Springs, Florida on 12/15/2010

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Previously I had an Epson 220; but it lacked fax and scan capabilities and could not be hooked up wirelessly. Thus far, the 810 has been great. My wife can print from her laptop wirelessly or do photos w/o turning her computer on. I have scanned and faxed in addition to doing pictures from my desktop which is hardwired to the printer. All such functions are simple and easy to perform. In my opinion, the Epson inks are simply great and I love the photos it produces.

I needed a new printer and have always relied on Epson products but decided to look at others. Seeing no clearly superior product, I decided to stick with tried and true. This proved to be a good decision. Delivery was quite prompt. I had no difficulty setting up the unit and really like the wireless printing feature. I have used it quite a bit now; the basic printing, scan, and copy functions are all excellent. The hi-res color printing will knock your sock off. This is a great, easy to use printer.

Epson Artisan 810

By LucyFur from NJ on 12/15/2010

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I bought this printer as a second photo printer (my main printer is a Photo R2880, which I love - but it's in a different location). I am delighted by the print and color quality of the 810, and it has the easiest scanning mechanism and software of any scanner I've ever used. So far so good, and very highly recommended! BUT I have had terrible, terrible difficulty with the paper feeder - which jams, which doesn't pick up more than one sheet at a time (and yes, I do have the correct paper weight selected in Photoshop ...) - and so far can't give it a higher review. The paper tray, moreover, is very flimsy and badly made - and I suspect is easily breakable.

Jammin'

By Steve H from Colorado on 12/13/2010

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Good print quality. Poor paper handling - jams often with Epson Premium Photo and Epson Premium Matte - which we use often. No way my wife will use this printer after all the jams and restarts. Was printing homemade calendars over the weekend and for 104 pages of Premium Matte, printing both sides (manually) I gave up after half my job was printed and switched back to our old Epson R260 (NO problems with the matte on the R260). And it was frustrating to start a job and go across the room to clear each jam - many of these had to be Canceled completly and restarted at the computer. I had at least 30 jams. Could only load about 20 - 24 pages of matte at a time. The old R260 will take a full 50 page pack.

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I purchased the Artisan 810 about 7 months ago and have had nothing but problems with it. Forget duplex printing, even single sided printing jams. I sometimes get as many as 8-10 pages feeding through at a time. It's not the paper, as I've tried the best of various brands. I've printed photos using PhotoShop on a number of printers, but can't on this one. The ink runs, literally runs down the print. Today, I'm getting an error message and now the printer won't work at all. I've given up. I won't buy another Epson product.

I especially liked the wireless installation for use with our two computers. I tried the photo printing menu and was very satisfied with the quality of the printed picture. I picked one of storm clouds at sunset and the colors were exactly what I was looking for. The camera card slots add great flexibility in inputting pictures. ESPSON WorkForce 610

By Epson longtimer from Santa Ana, CA on 12/08/2010

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I have been a long time user of Epson printer products and very satisfied with most Epson printers I have been used. For this particular model Epson WorkForce 610 and some newer model of Espon Stylus printers, the printing qualities are always superior with brilliant color contrast. Image printing of the Epson is superd. The speed has been quite slower than some models, but meet the expectation, anyway. Wireless networking is a plus with some easy installation instructions. The down side of this printer as well as models Epson Stylus 800, 810 is the ink consuming during cleaning cyle, either during turn-on processes or with automatic maintenance. This will not help with ink usage, particulary if you want to power on the machine constantly.

Just replaced my Epson Artisan 800 with an 810. General features are great; however, when printing pictures it seems to leave a fine line on the page from top to bottom about every inch on a 4X6" picture. This is very frustrating because the 800 did the same thing and I thought a new 810 would eliminate the problem. Correct the problem and I give it 5 stars.

Love, love, love this ...

Love, love, love this printer! I now own three of this model. I had previously bought two ... one to have as a spare and since I am visiting another state, I decided that I wanted another one to keep here too. It does use a lot of ink but the photo quality is worth the expense!

Awesome Printer

This printer has everything I want - document feeder, 2 sided printing, and I love the wireless printing capability. Now I can print from my laptop from anywhere in the house. Printing pictures is really a snap too. The individual photo paper tray is fabulous. I love Epson for pictures, the colors are great. Highly recommend this printer.

Printer Review

love the results once it was working, did not find the instruction of how the photo paper was to be put up - face up or down, apparently it is face down. Then ran into how to "scan" (with my Mac) and with a great deal of help and frustration by support got it working but had to download additional software, seems to work now/ Wonder what lifetime support is when it is only good for 2 years

A Great all-in-One Printer

By R M S from Roswell, NM on 12/05/2010

I am fully pleased with the new Epson Artisan 810 Printer. The one I replaced is a Epson Sylus C86 and was a very nice printer that I used for 5 years, it was still working. The set up went well on the 810 model. My neighbor who is an expert with computers set it up and was installed wireless on my 2 wired computers, Windows Vista and Windows XP. I love this new Epson 810 because it does everything and saves time as well. Epson printers are the best. The price was right, got a good deal on Cyber Mondy and it was delivered in 3 days. Thank you, Epson for making such a nice printer.

Not Sure About This Printer Yet

By MK from Denver CO on 12/04/2010

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I am thrilled at the network capabilities, the printer was very easy to set up and use, and it prints beautiful photos EXCEPT that there have been black splotches in one specific area on the first three prints I made. I cleaned the heads before the third print, and the splotches are smaller but still pr
