I am very well pleased with my Epson R3000 printer and the support they have given me has been outstanding! The ease of ordering direct has been a great asset especially dealing with knowledgeable sales staff. And the product quality of their supplies is excellent! R3000 printer

By coyotebob from So. Cal on 05/07/2015

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Upgraded earlier from the R2400 to the R3000 printer, not expecting a significant improvement. Pleased to report the R3000 is providing noticeably improved prints rendering more accurate colors and improved B&W images even in initial test prints. More readily achieving truer blacks and a greater range of grey tones when printing B&W images. Also enjoying the ability to download and install with relative ease custom paper print profiles. I had read favorably reviews about this printer which have proved to be accurate. Very satisfied.

good quality photo prints and anything with a photo. text quality not as good. /very large footprint. Very slow printing. Takes a long time to switch to Matt Black and back again and uses a large amount of ink. This would not be my first choice again.

An Excellent Printer for the Enthusiast

By CrunchyDoodle from Los Angeles, CA on 03/25/2015

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is an excellent printer from the point of view of a fabulous looking output, which is most important. I was impressed with how easy the wireless networking was to set up. Paper handling is good too. I've used plain paper for testing and Epson photo paper, as well as a few printable DVDs - all worked well. It is also rather slow, especially when it's doing maintenance. Again, the printed results are fabulous.

Continued ink clogging

By Anonymous from Metuchen, NJ on 03/19/2015

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I received the R3000 in January. After about 6 weeks it was hopelessly clogged and after 6 cleanings it still couldn't produce a decent nozzle check. I returned it to Epson & they sent me a refurbished unit. That clogged up after 2 weeks. Got another one. Have had it now for about 10 days. Same problem. Thirteen (yes, 13!) cleanings later it is still clogged up and I'm fed up too. I had a Pro 4000 and loved it. But this one...forget about it.

GREAT PRINTER

By California Guy from Beaumont, Ca. on 02/28/2015

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I received this printer yesterday. It came via UPS well boxed and protected. I set it up to use via my wireless network. Epson said I had two choices to set it up: 1) use of a temporary USB cord (which they recommended or..... 2) go another route and use the screen on the front of the printer. I tried #1 which did not work. When I tried the #2 method, it set up instantly with no problems. I ran a test sheet and then printed a photograph after installing the ink, etc. Everything went great. I love this printer; you will do. It does a terrific job and prints flawlessly.

new r3000 printer

By afm818 from Rochester, NY on 02/11/2015

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I recently purchased the Epson R3000. It's a bit bigger than my 2200, but I like all the new features and the way it closes up when not using. There's no see thru window to see the heads moving, but you can see the results pretty quickly. The quality and color match is rather precise without adding any new profiles to the system. If it sits around for a week or two, it took longer to clean and prime itself compared to the 2200. I've only run a few high res prints on it and so far they look amazing. I will be trying the thicker paper types next. I look forward to seeing the results.

Fine printer

By Jack from Georgia on 02/01/2015

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Fine colors and correct matches out of the box. It's nice when a company writes new drivers for existing printers when new operating systems hit the market; not leaving their customers with a lightly aged printer with only generic universal drivers available. Most of the other manufacturers seem to always do just that. Great borderless prints right to the edge.

By David from Undisclosed on 01/28/2015

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I just received my printer today and setup was without any hitches except that I started to set it up as a wireless printer and it said I need the network name and not to proceed unless I had it. Well, have been using a HP Photosmart 7520 wireless and don't think I had to name my "network." So I backed up and just used the USB from my Epson 2200 to hook this up. Then it went fine from there.

Prints of Original Paintings

By feretman from Des Moines Iowa on 01/07/2015

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The quality of the first few prints is much better than my R2000. I print mainly on 8.5x11 inch sheet canvas. I have had no major feeding problems thus far. My only real concern so far. Is ink usage and price. The representative I ordered from told me it came with a full set of ink? I have only printed five prints and used 1/2 of my yellow and 1/3 of my photo black. I am printing and selling many more on my R2000, as it is cost effective. We have been printing and selling prints from my R2000 since 02/29/2013. I have printed hundreds.

disappointing startup instructions

By vern from Portland Or. on 12/26/2014

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This is a little unfair writing a review when I have only had the R3000 for 8 days, but the pictures in the instruction book do not look like what I see on my apple laptop when I try to print. Makes it very, very difficult. Also, I happen to have some older kodak paper and there is no info on settings other then epson paper. I have been able to do one print successfully, it took forever to print and used a whopping amount of the black ink. Looks like almost 20% went into one 8 x 10 print? Changing the blacks is difficult and should be automatic Sometimes I get a list of paper choices, sometimes not. WHY? Should be easier.

The end product from the R3000 is excellent! However the amount of ink used appears to be excessive. The larger ink cartridges appear to be great, however they are depleted rather quickly and are expensive to replace!

Never UnHappy with Epson

By Rev Freedom from Connecticut on 12/25/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I just finished setting up my Epson 3000. This printer is replacing an Epson 3880 which I regretfully needed to let go of during a downsize for our new Ministry Launch. I have printed one file so far from my 3880 History and the quality is seamless. The 3000 quality looks no different than the 3880. In the past I designed Christian Graphics that were sold to help support our Ministry work, so I've had experience for years with these products. I could not imagine not having the access to printing graphics posters and other media used for our Ministry, and thankfully with Epson's, CHRISTmas sales, I was able to receive this as a gift from someone who felt our loss over loosing the 3880. Over the years I have graduated through different models and Never have I found one that for the purpose it was intended did not fully meet my expectations! I look forward to continuing on with our new machine and am confident it will pack the punch it is intended to give! Thanks Epson for your Holiday Sales!

Spectacular prints! This ...

By acorn from Atascadero, CA on 12/19/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Spectacular prints! This is a really great printer. I have only given it 4 stars because of something that happened at set-up. This probably would not have happened if I had read the complete instruction manual; however I followed the set-up instruction sheet. Used USB connection. Printed test page using plain paper. This put photo black ink into operation. My error as all my printing was going to be on matte paper! Changed ink using buttons on front of printer. Printer did not communicate change to computer so program would not let me select matte paper. Tried everything this side of re-installing matte ink (figured this would just waste ink). Called your tech support but could not seem to communicate to technician what was happening. Finally gave up and took a break and shut both printer and computer down. When I restarted both the right ink was shown on the screen. It has worked perfectly ever since.

Hand feed only for quality printing

By GraphicDesigner from Austin, TX, USA on 12/12/2014

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I just purchased this printer and I am very disappointed! The only way to get quality photo prints is to hand feed it one sheet at-a-time. I need a photo printer as I am a graphic designer but I do need it to also do multiple prints and feeding it one-at-a-time is un productive. I must babysit this printer for quality prints. You can only bulk load regular printer paper and we all know that regular printer paper does not work for photo printing! I am going to return this printer and never look at EPSON again! Great print quality, love print to edge but you fell short on paper feed!!! 141212-000330

The R3000 is a vital tool

By PhotoDude from Denver, Colorado on 12/12/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I am a photographer based in Denver, and have found the R3000 printer to meet my needs very well for producing art and commercial prints. I use high quality Red River paper, and my prints never fail to impress clients. I have had the printer for about 4 months now, and I intentionally left my first prints out where they would get dusty, exposed to occasional sunlight, and things set on top of them. They havent faded at all. As a testament to the hardiness of these inks, I printed some glossy For Sale signs, and two hours later accidentally allowed 2 inches of scotch tape to stick to the sign. By carefully removing the tape, the sign remained intact; no ink peeled up. The printer is fast. I havent yet used all of its features, but so far this vital tool for my business hasnt let me down.

Have used Epson printers throughout the years at my job and purchased one for home use which is the R3000 Inkjet Printer. So far the printing has been excellent and the photos come out very nicely. By Roger from Santa Barbara, California on 11/19/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I use the Epson Stylus Photo R3000 for printing photographs downloaded to my computer from 3 different cameras. It makes excellent prints and is much faster than my 2200. However the on standard settings the R3000 prints are noticably darker than the 2200. I have to use special settings to get the R3000 prints to be as bright as I prefer. Warning! Use only Epson ink. I used other brands of ink with disasterous results.

Perfectly Wonderful

By Michelle of Yardley from Yardley, PA on 11/09/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Purchased this printer to replace my R1900, which had a disappointingly short lifespan! THAT is another story--the only Epson product that ever proved to be a bad experience (I have had several GOOD experiences over the years). The R3000, so far, is a JOY, especially with the $200 rebate. Its performance has been stellar so far. The only complaint I have (not trivial) is that when switching from Photo Black to Matte Black (or vice-versa) too much ink is used up. It may be exaggerated because I'm still using the start-up ink cartridges (which are also a disappointment in that they have very little ink). But the prints are beautiful and flawless. So I'm truly happy on that point.

Stylue R3000

By Anonymous from Undisclosed on 10/31/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

WOW! I had to buy a new Epson as I stupidly killed mine. Anyway my old one was beyond perfect and after 5 years with the old one printing so perfectly every time I thought oh no a new one is never going to do as great. Well I was wrong. My new Stylus R3000 is perfect. I would say the detail when I enlarge an image is not quite as perfect as the first one but still good. Most small images don't enlarge well no matter what printer you use. I sell items that have to have images that are perfect and mine continue to be. THANK YOU EPSON for continuing to provide quality printers.

I run a small photography business (mostly a hobby that pays for itself!) out of my home. I offer a few prints to my clients with their photo packages, and I am always proud to deliver them. The color is vivid and spot on when compared to what I hoped would print, and sometimes it's better! I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to print their photos in house and avoid the uncertainty of color you get from the local pharmacy.

Unexpected cleaning cycles = waste of time & ink

By Anonymous from Undisclosed on 10/25/2014

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Immediately between print jobs, my R3000 often decides to run an unrequested cleaning cycle. Not only does this drain costly ink, but it takes about 10 minutes of my valuable time, competely stalling productivity. Furhter, when you switch between photo and matte ink, it goes through another ink-pumping cycle to get purge ink in the tubes, wasting more ink. Great output, but too many unrequested cleaning cycles costing valuable time and money.

Amazingly Easy and Convenient

By StudioF7 from Waldorf Maryland on 10/14/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have used my Epson 3000 for approximately one year and continue to be amazed by the outstanding results it provides. This printer was easy to set up and I began using it almost immediately. I only use Epson brand photo paper and the results have been fantastic. I can't think of any downside to this printer because I only use it for high and semi gloss photo prints. Its well constructed, uses all paper formats, and can be located almost anywhere in the room with its wireless connectivity. Thanks Epson for your attention to detail and quality.

Bottom Line:

Using it with a Mac Pro. Instructions are not great as it took a long time to figure out how to get the settings right. Still struggle with getting it to change the black ink right. My photo prints have random red ink droplets on them, usually 1 or 2 drops per photo. They are still wet on printout but leave a spot if you try to dab them off. Was always happy with printshop and windows and epson, not so pleased with new epson, printshop, and mac. I do not see much difference from the much cheaper Epson R1900 I had at work,

Printing with New Ink Cartridges

By Anonymous from Undisclosed on 09/13/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I just recevieved my new R3000 printer and I had a big order to fill. With the ink that shipped with the printer, I was able to print 43 (8x10) and 30 (11x17) photos before I ran out of my first ink cartridge. I thought this might be useful information for those who are trying to figure out how many photos you can print right out of the gate.

Excellent Photo printer

By gatorlou from Bluffton SC. on 09/13/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I replaced my Epson R2400 printer with the Epson R3000 printer. I considered the R2400 to be the perfect printer. I had 13 years of trouble free service with the R2400. So I had to replace it with an Epson photo printer. The R3000 exceeds the quality of the 2400 to a very noticeable degree. the colors are brighter and deeper. The printer is user friendly and has many extra features. I have only one complaint; the Epson 3000 is not shy about using ink. So you do not want to use this printer for every day documents. But i guess that is the price you pay for Perfection.

I'm having trouble loading Poster Board paper and also switching to Matte ink, I had trouble with original setup when loading inks. The Black Matte ink kept telling to put a new cartridge even though I had just loaded the one provided. It may be a bad cartridge But with all that considered the final printing IS Great. The Epson store provides good delivery services on paper and ink refills.

Nice printer which replaces my Epson photo 1800. I ran a couple of photos both black and white, and color. Very nice job and to date I am very happy with it. The ink cost much more than the ink for the 1800 but it appears the ink container is larger, so maybe more ink which would be nice.

So Frustating

By adurfee7 from New York, NY, USA on 08/11/2014

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I am not one to review products in general, however, my level of frustration with this printer is immense. This printer is extremely finicky, making loading and printing on heavier paper time consuming, often stopping in the middle of a job and requiring cancelation of the job, and slow print time. This coupled with the cost of ink and the cost of paper that has been wasted on this machine infuriating. Save yourself the headache and expense.

Excellent Photo Printer

By Michael from White Plains on 07/26/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have been using this printer for over a year, primarily for 13x19 color prints that I exhibit and sell and also for black and white prints of all sizes. The quality of the black and white prints is very, very good as are the color prints. It is easy to use--I make very few changes from the standard set ups. For color, I generally add 5% brightness. For black and white, I prefer the "cool" tone. But these are easy adjustments to make. I have been pleasantly surprised by how infrequently I need to replace ink cartridges. I doubt that you can do better for a printer of this size.

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I read all the reviews and talked with some professional photographers and decided to buy this model. I have been very disappointed. No where did it mention that this printer is extremely slow to print. I am printing fine art prints that I can only load one piece of paper manually at a time and it takes 1/2 hour to print 1 13 x 19 inch print. I would never have bought this printer if I had know these 2 facts.

R3000 - very nice

By larry from Whittier, CA on 07/14/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I'm about a month in on ownership now and can write that the R3000 meets my needs perfectly. Epson service was their usual great in helping me to set up the wifi connection, and I was up and running within an hour. 30 days later, I can show beautiful color prints, working digital negatives for alt process printing and even perfect DVD labeling. The price was reasonable (I did get it with a rebate) and while the first batch of ink gets pretty much eaten priming the printer, I've only had to replace one of the black cartridges - and that's after printing about 30+ color 11x17 images. I'm quite satisfied with no complaints. I can recommend it wholeheartedly.

High Quality Photo Printer

By PhotoPhil from Hickory, NC on 07/08/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Being a professional photographer that started printing all of my pictures, instead of sending them off to be printed, I needed a high quality photo printer. I already had the Epson Pro 4800 printer and loved it, I just needed another to print 12 x 18's; 11 x 14's and 8 x 10's on. The R3000 overachieves this task. Wether it is full color or B&W, this printer is fully up to the challenge. I like the feature of Advanced B&W (also on the 4800). This does a more professional job than the regular printing. You will be amazed by the super quality on this printer.

I admit I was not thrilled with my Epson experience until this unit. I was going to upgrade to the R2000 (I have one at my job) but decided to try the R3000. I LOVE it. Great printer

By Anonymous from Miami, FL on 07/08/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The prints are beautiful. It also prints wonderful grey tones. And the printer is relatively easy to work. But the printer doesn't always want to "talk" with my laptop despite the fact that they are basically sitting side by side. Also, I often get an error message telling me I don't have the right paper loaded despite the fact that I do have the right paper loaded. If I cancel that printing and select to print again, the printer usually responds.

This is my fourth Epson printer. I bought this printer because I wanted to print pictures larger than a letter size. The nice features is that the printer can take the sheet paper as well as the role paper. Also the quality of the printed pictures has been excellent. However, the thing I dislike is that it tends to use a lot of inks. It uses 9 ink cartridges and they are not cheep. When the printer turn on, it takes very long time to begin printing.

By framed from Gainesville, FL on 07/08/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The R3000 has a bunch of features that I just love. Loading roll paper and canvas is a breeze. The front load for heavier paper is awesome! The color quality is outstanding. I love the larger ink cartridges as there is a longer span between changing inks. I don't like changing the black inks for different paper types as it consumes (wastes) a lot of ink. I have found that if I do not print at least once a week the nozzles get clogged and require cleaning, which eats up the ink. This printer is very user friendly and the finished products are wonderful

High Quality Printer

By Chuck from Des Moines on 07/08/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had the printer for over two years and it has proved to be quite reliable. What I particularly like about this model compared to other Epson photo printers I have had are the following: 1) Large print cartridges; 2) Less need to clear print heads etc.; 3) Periods of limited use are handled better (e.g., less need to clear print heads); 4) Absolutely excellent quality, including black & white photos; 5) Excellent response from Epson's call center. My only problem is trying to use canvas paper. It is very difficult to the extent I still have not been able to get good results. Having said the above, I have no problems recommending this printer to a serious amateur photographer like myself. People can't believe I print the 11x14 photos hanging in my house on my own printer.

Great for Art & Photography

By NYC Artist from New York, NY on 07/08/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought this as a temporary replacement for my Epson 7890 that was destroyed in Hurricane Sandy. It uses the same inks as the 7890, so my workflow hasn't changed. The quality is excellent and the R3000 can also print on pretty much the same papers and aluminum foil I use in my art. I have two issues with this printer; the roll feed mechanism and the manual art paper feed. The roll paper mechanism can only take a 13" roll. There is no spindle, only two flimsy plastic ends so a roll less than 13" wide won't fit. My aluminum foil comes in 12" rolls so I had to fabricate a workaround by cutting a PVC pipe and forcing it into the two plastic roll feed ends so it feeds the 12" aluminum foil evenly. Epson needs to redesign the flimsy roll feed ends as they break much too easily. I am now on my 3rd pair. The manual art paper feed works ok but it's tied by software to the paper type; so if you want to use a matte art paper, you are forced to use the manual art paper feed even if it would fit in the normal paper path; otherwise, that particular paper choice is not available in your print dialogue box. This is a small gripe, but I wish Epson had given you the choice. Replacing the ink cartridges is easy and the cost is low. I have had absolutely NO clogging issues, even after not printing for a month or two. All in all, this is a nice printer that serves my needs until I can re-purchase the 24" wide 7890.

Excellent!

By Joan DC from Washington, DC on 07/08/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I'm a professional photographer and needed a higher quality printer than my Epson Artisan 50, which is the best for photos of all the consumer-grade home printers. After extensive research, I selected the R3000 and haven't regretted it for a minute. Also, I have a small apartment and the R3000 looks good, not obtrusive at all and surprisingly compact. Lastly, changing inks is a much more efficient process than any previous printer I've owned. The only down side is the cost of the ink, but that's true of all professional printers, any brand.

Serious nozzle problem

By ImageMaker from Jasper, GA on 07/08/2014

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This was a spectacular printer when it was working. But the black ink nozzles clogged frequently and eventually deposited black blobs of ink on the edges of the paper. Because I liked the quality of the prints, I took the printer to an authorized repair shop, where they replaced the print head, at considerable expense. They (and I) thought that would take care of the problem. I got a number of additional prints out of it and then, in switching from photo black ink to matte black ink, the heads totally clogged up. After trying all of Epson's suggested home remedies, I took it back to the shop. They said it looked like the head needed to be replaced again. Rather than putting that much more money into the printer, I junked it. My understanding is that because the photo black and matte black inks share the same tube and nozzle, this is a frequent problem. Perhaps if I were a photographer who printed every day, it wouldn't have happened but I'm not. I wish Epson would fix this problem because I would love to be able to use their photo printers.

Great value on a pro printer

By scusu from Phoenixville, PA on 07/08/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've been printing my wife's art (greeting cards and fine art prints) for the past few years on the 1100 and then 7010 with decent results but with a lot of tweaking to get the color close. In some cases the gamut was too limited to get it right. After the 7010 went south I decided to step up to the R3000. They had great rebates on it and glowing reviews. The R3000 is everything they said it was. After I re-profiled my monitor and did my first test print the color was nearly perfect. I also realized all the color and subtle detail I had been missing! I now print art and photos for other artists and the results have been fabulous. Ink usage for prints has been reasonable but there is quite a bit used when switching blacks between photo and matte. Fortunately Epson and other retailers often have decent sales on ink (and paper). I tried to use 3rd party inks on the old printers but got widely varying results on color and they eventually ended up clogged beyond repair. I stick with Epson genuine now. I also decided to get an extended warranty because repairs can often exceed the entire price of the printer. Not such a big deal on low end printers but definitely worthwhile at this price point.

R3000

By Hank from Grants, New Mexico on 07/01/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I am a retired pro photographer and University instructor from the film days. I found set-up was easy. I used a Ethernet cable followed instructions and if in doubt looked at diagrams and/or read ahead. After set-up I had a family reunion to print and was very impressed with the quality, they looked like they were done in a darkroom lab. Then I took a black and white shot this looked as good as when I use to use my darkroom. It was hard to believe the gray scale and the rich Blacks and white. If you are looking for quality prints I strongly suggest you go with the Epson R3000.

The Epson Stylus Photo R3000 is as good as it gets. I really enjoy the connectivity via my home wireless network. The paper handling is great. The color and quality are great. I have only one complaint, the manual and instructions are terrible.I read the warning not to use the software CD on my Mac and finally the only way I got it to load the software was from the CD. There were no illustrations of the menus or how to get to them. Come on, make a manual that works.

Whether you are a pro or beginner, this printer will do exactly what it is designed to do and what you want it to do, even if it is not setup correctly. It is always easy for the pros to setup a printer and get great results , but not always for the non pro. Not so with this printer. The thought process that went in building this printer makes it easy for all levels to set up and get great prints every time without a lot of additional software. This is my second Epson printer which says that I trust the Epson products. My confidence is growing and I plan to buy another Epson printer that can print even larger prints, but not because I will get better quality prints. Non is better!!

This R3000 is a replacement for an old Epson Stylus Photo 1400 I have had for 7 years without a problem. I wanted the higher quality ink and the ability to use roll paper as I print Panoramas. Super quiet printed several panoramas and all turned out perfect.

A very good machine

By CJC2 from Eastern PA on 05/30/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I replaced an older Pro 4000 with this R3000. Obviously the more expensive models can do more, but this one should meet most of my needs, just not be able to make a few of the larger prints. I found mine boxed well and very easy to setup. Once set up, I printed one of the test images, then one of my own for which I had made a previous print on another machine. On the third print I had everything spot on, and it's been that way ever since. This seems to be a solid machine as well as one which will make me, and my clients, happy for some time to come. Surprisingly, at least from what I am used to, the printer seemed to use little ink in the priming process leaving me with a almost full set of ink cartridges. What a pleasant surprise. So far, so good. Another quality machine from Epson, with a wonderful ink set.

Second R3000

By Daun from Fleetwood, PA on 04/08/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I owned my previous R3000 for about 2 1\2 years before it started randomly dropping scattered droplets of black ink on my photos. It gradually started dropping more ink on more frequent pictures until I had to purchase a new R3000. The print head or print controller is obviously not properly designed or manufactured because I read other reviews online with similar experience. The cost to repair, according to local authorized repair shops is prohibitive, in fact one shop refused to repair it at all. The printer when working is fantastic. However, for the cost of the printer I think Epson should have had a recall or a less expensive way to repair rather than customers needing to replace. Talk about a waste of the earth's resources.

Epson 3000

By bob from Winnemucca, Nevada on 03/11/2014

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

so far my epson r3000 is not working. I've received the first refurbished replacement for my new r3000 which malfunctioned after 2 weeks of use. So my star rating is still pending. But being unable to print anything while UPS transports replacement parts ( I am now awaiting new ink cartridges that were defective on my refurbished printer), gets a little tedious. So that's my reveiw. Futher installments to come

Love and hate

By Jack the Bear from Los Angeles County, CA on 03/07/2014

Bottom Line:

Image printed with image on screen needs to be refined. Have only printed with Photo Black and with the ink loss from changing from Pk to Mk, photos will have to be lined up so that the changing back and forth will be at a minimum. Overall printer is fine With the MK to PK ink loss on the "pro" type printers. I think Epson is carrying the razor/razor blades analogy bit too far.

Stylus R3000

By David from Seattle, WA on 03/05/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I upgraded from an R2000 which I liked very much. While I thought that I was having a problem (I am, but not due to the printer it is all on Adobe) I purchased this printer. Installation was a breeze, even on a shared network which I did first and then did a hard wire to my system. I expected trouble for the network installation but it went without a hitch. Images printed have been fantastic. Took some yesterday to a customer and they were thrilled with the quality and the colors that I captured. Colors are great and the quality of the output for pictures and on DVDs has been better than expected. A great printer!

Hoping for better reliability.

By mat from Undisclosed on 03/01/2014

Bottom Line:

This is my third R3000 in the last two years. The first two died on me! Epson replaced the first one, under warranty, with a rebuilt R3000, but did not do so when the rebuilt one died, because the warranty on the first printer had expired. Obviously, I have been very disappointed with the R3000's reliability & am hoping for better dependability with this one, because it produces beautiful prints. I am especially pleased with how it renders B&W images, using Advanced B&W. Thus I highly recommend the R3000 based on the quality of the images accompanied with reservations based on my experience with reliability.

My Epson Stylus Photo 2200 that I have had for over ten years, just bit the dust. I really hated to see it go and was leary that the next wide format printer might not be as good. Well, let me tell you, I just installed my Epson Stylus Photo R3000 today and have only printed a few photos....... WOW doesn't even cover it. What beautiful picture quality. I am very impressed. I can't wait to print more. It is a wonderful printer, easy to set up and get it up and running. Thank you Epson for all your wonderful products. Thanks again! Stormy 403

Initial Observations

By Laser1 from Boise, ID on 02/14/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have been a user of Epson printers since 1982. My FX-286 printer still works! This R3000 printer was purchased to replace an R1800 used for engineering design prints on 11"x17" paper. The R1800 developed the well documented power switch failure but after the new R3000 was ordered, I was able to bypass the bad switch and just left the old printer on and working. The new R3000 sat on a shelf, unopened for 2 years before initial installation. In spite of this, it started right up, the included ink loaded and printed fine, and paper handling worked great. I particularly like the large ink cartridges and quiet operation. If this printer lasts longer than the R1800, I will be very pleased.

Outstanding printer and great value.

By Photojunkie from Ann Arbor, MI on 02/04/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have been using the Epson R3000 now for about 4 months. It is performing flawlessly. I did a lot of research on fine art printers and printing before I purchased this machine, and I can tell you that I'm glad I did. I really like B&W printing and this printer blows the doors off of any competitor in its price range. The Advanced B&W function in the printer driver is fantastic. You can really customize the overall tone of your image quite easily. Set up was a snap. I used the printer display to link to my network and had no problems setting this up. There are a few little tricks that aren't covered in the manual, such as the ability to use an economy flush when switching from photo black to matte black. A web search will help find those tips. I keep my machine covered when not in use and I print something at least once every 2 weeks or so, and I have not had a problem with nozzles clogging or paper jamming. The colors are crisp and clear and match my calibrated monitor. The printer really shines when it comes to B&W, however. I've had a great deal of fun experimenting with different papers, settings on the Advanced B&W driver, and rendering intents. The larger ink cartridges help are a blessing. I've printed quite a bit and I am still using the ink set that came with the printer. This is a great printer at a very reasonable price. One thing that I didn't consider when I purchased the machine is the very large Epson printer user community that is out there. I haven't had any major issues yet, but knowing that there are a LOT of folks out there using the same machine provides a level of comfort that you won't find with any other printer.

Awesome

By Ovrkil from South suburbs of Chicago on 01/27/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've been using this printer for about 2 months and have printed 200 or so prints as large as 13x19. I'm still learning as I go but the quality is amazing. I also want to mention that I bought mine refurbished and when it showed up at my house NEXT DAY the only thing in the box was the printer. No power cord, no ink, no nothing. I called right away and told them the situation and I had those items in 2 days. After doing some reading I then realized that the roll paper adapters and the cd printing tray were supposed to come with a new printer so I called them again and once again I had those items in 2 days. I also had a small problem with my MacBook Pro wanting to use older print drivers and after 5 minutes with tech support they had correct drivers installed and I have now been running for 2 months with 0 problems. So that's my story. Nothing but praise so far. Good customer service, good tech support and a great product.

I hate this printer. Worst investment I have ever made. It does not sync well with an iMac at all. Always issues with it telling me the wrong ink is on deck or an ink is low when it is not. Throw yourself a roast in the crockpot when you want to print something. It can take several minutes for it to even cue or warm up to print. And hopefully it will take the print stock in straight on the first try. I am very dissatisfied with this printer and DO NOT recommend it.

Let Down by Epson

By meddykay from Hilton Head Island, SC on 01/19/2014

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

My R3000 is dead in the water after 2 years of use. It's my 4th Epson, the most expensive and the quickest to die. Actually the ONLY one to die. The problem is the black ink. I have learned that switching from Photo Black to Matte Black inks will soon cause the lines and print heads to clog. It begins with black ink blobs on photos and ends with totally clogged black ink lines. There is no happy ending to this issue. My R3000 will still print, but no black ink comes through. I can't even print text with it. So what to do? I have been a loyal Epson fan for decades. Now I hesitate to purchase another epson product. I have a big, heavy, expensive Epson paperweight sitting beside me at the moment.

Epson Stylus Photo R3000

By Gilfoile from San Francisco Bay Area on 01/12/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great printer. My pictures are coming out sharp with very good colors. The ink is in large enough containers that I don't need to buy new cartridges more than once every few months. The only problem I'm having is that the driver software seems a little difficult to navigate. For example, I had the printer set up to do duplex printing (both sides of the paper). I had to remove this setting temporarily and now I can't get it back and I can't find instructions to help me do this. The user interface is not intuitive and the documentation is sadly lacking.

By Rick from Marana, Arizona on 01/05/2014

Bottom Line:

This is my 2nd R3000 in a little over 2 years. Output is very good. Clogged head is the problem. On my [just over 2 years old] R3000 the head clogged after swapping PK to MK inks for printing my Xmas cards. Swapped back to PK and it clogged. No amount of head cleaning would clear the print head. 2 weeks in the repair shop and almost $200 in bills and still clogged. I will no longer swap inks in the new unit and live with the PK ink for all my printing. I replaced the old R3000 with a new one because of the job it does when it prints, but I'm not happy having to replace my lightly used R3000 after only 26 months.

I really enjoy my Epson Stylus Photo R3000 printer, especially now that technical support has helped me adjust the paper feeder so that it no longer "jams" when the paper is one millimeter misaligned. By elocks from Baltimore, MD on 01/02/2014

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have used Epson printers for several years and used a R1800 before upgrading to the Stylus Pro R3000. I just purchased my second R3000 for use in another location. The R3000 is excellent in every way. The print quality, both in color and B&W is great and the fact that this relatively compact printer can handle 13 inch wide paper allows me to prepare prints for camera club competition easily. My friends also appreciate the prints that I prepare for them as gifts and wall hangings. Paper handling with front loading is also available. The only downside is that the inks are expensive and experimentation with paper types/finishes can be costly. I would definitely recommend this printer for the advanced amateur or professional photographer.

So far, so good

By sschwa from Rockville, MD on 12/18/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have a 3800 that is an excellent printer, but very costly in the past year due to the cost of ink to un-clog it, and now for print head defects. Decided to replace it with the R3000 rather than the 3880. (I still use the 3800 for certain 17x22 applications as long as I stick to matte black). Have used the R3000 for about a month and could not be more satisfied with the print quality. It is fast (relatively speaking) and very quiet. My only current criticism is that when it's been turned off for awhile, it takes a number of minutes to load for the first print. I assume from the printer sounds that the ink tubes are being primed as an anticlog measure, but not sure. If so, it means some ink waste. But from my previous 3800 experience, leaving the printer on for too long a period between printing sessions is an invitation to clogging. Maybe Epson will advise. Set-up through ethernet and Mac OS X 10.8 was flawless. No hesitancy to highly recommend at this time. Hope it stays that way.

Epson R3000 -- not quite great

By MJSfoto1956 from Boston, MA on 12/18/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

As a long time Epson owner I purchased the Epson R3000 expecting professional-level quality and reliability. On both scores this printer leaves something to be desired. For example, within 3 months, the printer jammed and then would not print. I had to take it into get repaired. It was repaired and I picked it up but it immediately would drop ink on every print. Back to repair. Turns out the defective part (the inking subsystem) was not in the country and would be more than a month before it would be available. Fortunately, it was under warranty but my take is that this printer is simply somewhat "fragile" compared to its professional level brethren. In my case, in the first four months of usage I had about 25% down time and lots of wasted paper and ink. That being said, as far as image quality, it definitely delivers a gorgeous print. Especially the "warm black" setting which is nothing less than superb. Professional photographer friends of mine commented that the prints from this machine looked like classic darkroom prints -- high praise indeed. The only downside is that the two-black ink system often gets confused by the Macintosh drivers and we typically have to restart the machine or manually select the proper black ink. Worse, this machine clogs as bad as some of my earlier Epson purchases of ten years ago. I would have expected this to be fixed on these machines by now. And finally (and this is to be expected at this price point) the ink cost is high with this machine especially as compared to printers like the 7800 or 7900 series. So if you need an occasional pro-quality 12"x18" photographic quality print, I can definitely recommend this printer. But for high-volume or everyday use as an all-around printer, it leaves something to be desired.

Excelent Quality

By LKS from Des Moines, IA on 12/18/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The quality of prints we are getting with this printer is amazing. Our clients have been satisfied thus far with their prints. The ink levels seem to drop off fast but reading other review they say it is normal for the first run of ink cartridges to go fast and should slow down after all heads have been able to fill. I have printed 24 sheets (8 1/2 X 11) on luster paper and my photo black, light black and light magenta are less than half full now, so I am hoping that they are right and it will get better. Now shipping needs some work since I paid for the 2 day shipping and it took a extra day which may not sound like much but when you have clients waiting for pictures it can cost. Now epson's customer Service was helpful in refunding my shipping cost since it exceded the time they said it would. Over all I have had a good experience with epson and would recommend this product and their services.

Excellent Printer - Performance and Quality

By L P DAVIS from Kingsport, TN on 12/16/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I am quite pleased (even delighted) with the performance and quality of my refurbished R3000. The customer service from Epson has been great also. The first printer I received would not load the cartridges and it was promptly replaced with another unit that has worked very well. I would rate these features at 5 stars. The only concern I have with the R3000 is the HIGH cost of the ink and paper. These costs would rate only one star. Because of this high cost, I do not use my printer for routine printing of photos, but reserve it for those requiring the highest quality. Give us a break - cut the price of the ink.

By Jim from Searsmont, Maine on 12/16/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

In general I like the printer a lot. It has tremendous flexibility and the printing quality is absolutely superb. The only problem that I have with it is that it sometimes has trouble receiving the "print" order through the wireless connection with my Apple computer. This also happens sometimes when I switch from Matte black ink to print black ink or vice versa if I don't also tell it to switch paper types. I would like to have it print when I switch inks without having to tell it also to switch paper. When these problems occur, I call the Epson support techs to get me out of the jam and they always correct the problem in a very professional way. The support people are terrific.

I have loved Epson R3000 for several years, now. However, with the upgrade to Maverick on my Mac, Epson is lagging behind and I am unable to use this machine to it's full potential. I am told that Epson is working on this upgrade, but no one can give me an ETA on when I might expect it. Right now, I have to put the file in Dropbox and bring it up on my old laptop to print from there!!! Way too time consuming. Can you give me an ETA on the upgrade to accommodate Mac's Maverick system?

great printer

By jwinchicago from Chicago,Illinois on 12/15/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

For me the R3000 is perfect! The resolution and color of the prints is on the mark. This is my second R3000, the first one had issues with the capping station and needed repair. I used it for about a year and a half when the problems began. My decision to buy the second R3000 took some thinking. I considered a 3880 but I really do not print over 13X19inches. I run EPSON EXHIBITION FIBER PAPER in my printer and am very happy with the prints I make. In the near future I am hoping to upgrade to a 3880, there is going to have to be an upgrade in my camera equipment as well. In closing, I think the R3000 is a wonderful, and for me, affordable, entry into EPSON wide format printers.

Six months of R 3000 experience

By Ron from Decatur, Il. on 12/15/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Speed and color reproduction is excellent. Getting my Mac mini and the printer to convert to Matte black ink was a real chore. You won't get An automatic change with a change to matte paper. The final results once I jumped through all the Hoops was everything I had hoped for both in color And black and white . Complicated way to get from photo black to matte Black ink needs improvement.

Great printer

By CharleyPup from Philadelphia on 12/15/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought the printer primarily to use Epson Exhibition Fiber Paper for both color an B&W printing. Prints exactly as I ad hoped it would. It was easy to closely match my monitor for neutral B&W prints. Speed is fine. The paper is similar in surface to glossy air dried B&W paper but comes out perfectly flat which makes mounting a breeze. I highly recommend the printer for this use.

Great Printer

By Geri from Undisclosed on 12/15/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

For a mid priced printer this one is great. Inks do not clog, even if I have not printed in a week or so. The only complaint I have is that I thought the printer was supposed to change from photo black to and from matte black on its own, but the only way I have been able to get it to switch is if I do it manually. It is pretty easy to do, but I just assumed it would know to change depending on the paper we are choosing to print on.

Excellent Printer, 1 Caution

By BillR from Boynton, Beach, FL on 12/15/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I would classify myself as a serious amature photographer who likes to have control over the whole process from image capture to presentation. It is for that reason that I selected the Epson Stylus Photo R3000. What a great printer. It has delivered excellent results on everything from matte to metalic papers. My only disappointment is in the cost and size of the ink cartridges. The cost per ml of ink is more than twice as much for the same ink as compared to the 3880 (which has 80 ml cartridges). If you plan on printing frequently I would recommend getting away from the expense of the 25.9ml cartridges of the 3000.

Review of Epson Stylus Photo R3000

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I switched over to the Epson R3000 printer because it was an upgrade from the printer (other brand) that I had. I am extremely please with the R3000, and in some ways I wish I had bitten the bullet and purchased the R3880 for the extra size I could print.

Epson R3000

By threads from Washington DC Metro Area on 12/15/2013

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This printer was easy to set up and does a great job of my daily printing. I had hoped to do a great deal of printing on fabric. So far the color output is inferior to my Epson 2200. The fabric printing was the main reason to purchase a printer with a multitude of ink colors. I'm not sure if the problem is the printer or the software or my computer. I do know I did not have this problem of accuracy with the 2200.

Great Printer

By rrl1007 from Sylvania, OH on 12/15/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I like most of the features and results of my R3000. The quality of the prints are excellent. As a professional photographer I work a lot in Photoshop and have had to work a bit to get my preferences right compared to the R1900 I used previously, but once worked out the results are extremely good. If there is one area of the R3000 that troubles me, it is the amount ink that is used when changing from photo black to matte black and back. It seems my ink level drops by 20% evereytime I switch. I went with the R3000 instead of the R2000 besed on the recommendation of one of the Epson Tech reps as he said the R3000 was the entry model to the professional series and had a completely new print head that should not clof up like my R1900 did. I hope he is right.

Using the R3000

By Chuck from Anchorage, AK on 12/15/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've used the Epson Stylus Photo R3000 for about a year now and am very happy with it. The larger ink cartridges are a big plus, even though they cost more at purchase. Print quality is excellent on a variety of papers. One niggle I experienced is difficulty loading the CD/DVD tray. After consultation with Epson I realized that the leading edge of the tray has to slide into a very narrow slot inside the printer and it was bumping into the edge of the slot. Opening the top of the printer and watching where the tray goes eliminates the problem. Overall this is the best 13"-wide printer I've used.

Great Prints

By Purple from Texas on 12/12/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I do alot of crafts, photo printing & scrapbooking. My old printer finally bit the dust. After researching the quality of different printers & the size of prints as well as costs, I choose the Epson Stylus R3000. I was not let down either. Easy set up, quiet operation, beautiful prints & can print straight from my phone if I so choose. I'm still figuring out the different types of paper settings, but hey that's with any printer. Overall, this printer has very professional quality prints. I love the 12 x 12 print size. The only drawback I have found is my local stores do not carry this ink. So I will have to order it. If your looking for a printer that prints great quality photos and/or big prints, than this one is it.

What can I say. Epson rocks. Right out of the box printed flawlessly. Set up was very easy right down to the wireless networking. First print was great but needed some adjustments. Second print and all others afterwards were perfect on the first try. Once you become familiar with the program software, you will sail through effortlessly. No joking. This printer is for any serious photographer out there who wants results the way he or she saw them before the shutter dropped.

EPSON Stylus Photo R3000

By Alfred from Chandler, Arizona on 11/26/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Purchased 18 months ago. Setup and printing have met my expectations (excellent) until recently. The excessive amount of ink used in the black glossy to black matte switch is costly since I print regularly on 13"x19" media. That was my only concern until now. Now, upon my second visit to the repair shop in as many weeks, the first to unclog the 2 black print heads was cured by soaking them for several days. It's second visit reveals that the main board is malfunctioning and is no longer manufactured or available according to the repair shop. The printer now shuts down in the middle of a print job wasting expensive paper and ink as well as leaving black blobs of ink at the beginning of the print. I find this parts issue totally unsatisfactory and should be resolved before anyone purchases this printer. It appears that I too will inherit an expensive paper weight. I am at a loss for now, knowing that Epson is probably one of the best inkjets for my purposes.

Supberb printer but takes some getting used to

By Casey from Palm Springs, CA on 11/19/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I upgraded from an Artisan 1430 to the stylus R3000. If glossy photo prints are your goal, then the Artisan does a wonderful job at a lower price. However if you want to do high quality matte printing and fine art printing, the R3000 is the printer for you. I marvel at the color quality and detail of the printing on matte paper. I particularly like the printing of blacks and grays. You need to plan your work carefully, however. Switching between matte paper and glossy paper comes at a very high cost in wasted ink for head cleaning.Organize your work to stay in one print mode as much as possible. I have shifted my glossy printing completely to another simpler color printer, and process only matte and fine art on the R3000. I was initially very concerned about the cost of the ink cartridges, but their higher capacity really does last very much longer, easing my concerns.

By ZiggyNamja from Connecticut on 11/19/2013

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not a lot of 'unleashing' going on here... Big project coming up, good material, brand new printer, what could go wrong? I was very excited to transition from an old HP B8800 series to the R3000 for many reasons, however my elation was short lived. The unit had a permanent 'printer error' on start up, would not recognize any cartridges and basically refused to work. Contacted the Epson support center, great guys - very helpful and polite, and it became apparent that this unit has a major issue. A replacement unit is in transit right now and I look forward to a perfectly working printer so I can recoup the time lost. Hopefully I will be able to write a more favorable review after the replacement arrives...

It took a while

By oldugly from albuquerque, NM on 11/03/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The first printer that I received left much to be desired, the print quality was about 50% of my old R2400. Although the color was exceptional, I could not live with the low print resolution. I feel that it took way to long to receive a second printer. However the replacement unit actually prints a higher resolution print as compared to the prints from the r2400. The r3000 makes it worth the expense of buying high resolution cameras. The people at Epson were very polite and helpful even if a little slow, that may or may not been their fault. For all of you complaining about the cost of ink the web is full of places that will print your photos for next to nothing and that is what you will get. I will gladly pay the price, my photos deserve it.

Epson R 3000 Wide Format Printer

By Bob J. from Colorado on 11/01/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My 1st Epson printer was a 1270 that produced lab quality award winning prints. It did take considerable time, ink and paper to "calibrate" for wysiwyg. This printer lasted 15 years! My second Epson was a 1280 that took somewhat less time, ink and paper to "calibrate" It also produced lab quality award winning prints. It lasted 12 years! The R 3000 produces "calibrated" prints right out-of-the box. Unfortunately, the first two experienced premature failures within weeks after they were obtained. I have high hopes and expectations the the present R 3000 will rival the 1270 and 1280 in performance and durability. The local in printer controls are a definite plus. The way it handles roll prints is a great improvement. I've unable to find information as to why a separate tray is needed for fine art paper.

By bilg from Fairfield, CT on 11/01/2013

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

My R3000 worked great (5 stars) over the first 1.5 years. BUT then began to deposit blobs of black ink and/or streaks on photo prints. Nozzle cleaning worked at first, but the problems returned after a few days at first and then after an hour or less. I used the product for personal photo printing on a regular basis taking care to use only Epson inks and quality papers.

I just purchased and received it today. I was so excited to get ready for my prints. I immediately found some problem. 1. my prints got out with some ink mark but not serious. 2. inks ran out SO SO fast. i only printed only 4 ,11x8.5, some inks already gone to bottom. 3. I couldn't clearly understand how to switch Matte black and photo black. 4. fine art paper loading deck in the front is not properly working. keep sending errors. I had difficulties to figure out and to try to re load a paper many times to get the image. Now i am thinking to return it. I can't afford to feed inks for every 2 weeks.

You probably do not want a review from me until I can get a decent print out of this machine. Too bad it just doesn't print well right from the start. I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt because I'm hoping it is so vastly capable that I just haven't chosen the right options yet. I miss my old Epson printer and very much wish the the Print Settings window looked the same on an iMac as it did in Windows XP. At least then I had the power to control saturation and color balance. This machine only lets me choose paper type. VERY FRUSTRATED and using a lot of ink on poor prints!!!!

Love the quality of print. It is very slow on wireless. I bought this to do some old photos and to print some of my sunsets. It does a great job. The only problem I have is that the rebate is not still on line. I purchased this to get the 150.00 back. I copied the rebate before the printer and I have lost it. There is now a 200.00 rebate. I did not get my printer until mid September. It was easy to install. So the only problem is getting the rebate promised when purchased.

I am now a dedicated Epson fan. I had an Epson 2200 printer that served me well for 8 years. This year I decided to move up to the K3 inks and the finer picoliter print head, and glad I did. The R3000 performs smoothly and beautifully. I make a lot of smaller prints for family, and some larger stunning display prints. The ease of operation from Lightroom 4 to the printer is impressive. Like I said: I love the R3000.

great workhorse printer for photos

By RPbySC from Atlanta, GA on 08/30/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've used this printer for 2 years and bought it at the recommendation of a local photography store. I've printed hundreds of cards and maybe 100 prints of different sizes, up to 11x17. I've been very pleased with how easy it is to use. I print wirelessly and never had a problem. The only glitch I've had was recently when printing some cards on a paper I've used many times before without a hitch. I was able to resolve the problem (ink smear on cards) by increasing the platen gap in Photoshop. I don't know why this came up suddenly like that, but it's fixed now. I do try to use mostly paper that uses Photo Black ink so I don't have to switch very often and use up ink in the process. I also have a smaller Epson printer for everyday use. Love them both!

Epson Stylus Photo R3000 prosumer printer.

By Ketch from Ketchikan Alaska USA on 08/30/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The prosumer printer my R3000 replaced was an excellent printer; however, when I ran comparison prints the R3000 is clearly better. My test prints were complex wilderness scenes with extreme detail and a great variety of color. My monitor is color calibrated. I tested with Premium Photo Paper Glossy. The color profile provided by Epson produced a virtually identical image to that on my screen, eliminating the necessity for me to profile the R3000! When compared to my previous printer's images, the R3000 produced distinctly better detail! One of my test prints was primarily gray storm clouds and the R3000 produced excellent shades of gray--much better than my previous printer. I am very happy with my new R3000!

This replaced my Epson Photo Stylus 2200 that we purchased refurbished around nine years ago. The R3000 is much quieter. One thing I don't like about the R3000 is having to switch between Photo Black and Matte Black because of the ink usage during the process. I haven't used the CD tray yet, but I am excited that I now have this feature.

Pretty Good

By Eugenie from Sumnerville, MI on 08/05/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I was surprised and delighted that installation was so painless. In the past, my Epsons have been cranky about fitting in with my operating systems. The color is, as expected, beautiful. I have not had it long enough to experience the clogging problems I anticipate from past Epson printers, and they may not even happen!

GOOD AND NOT SO MUCH

By meddykay from Hilton Head Island, SC on 08/04/2013

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

If I had written a review a year ago, I'd had given the R3000 5 stars. It is fast, quiet and makes really nice prints. However, it's started dropping blobs of black ink on my prints. I find that doing a nozzle check and multiple head cleanings fixes the problem for a while. But not long. I'm going through ink like crazy and am never sure what sort of print the R 3000 will give me. Am glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. Sure wish there was a better solution than buying a new printer though. This is my 4th Epson printer - the most expensive- and the only one to have a problem this early.

Great desktop printer

By David K from Topton, PA on 08/04/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This printer was described in reviews as a 3880 pro photo printer with a more reasonable footprint. It far exceeded my already high expectations. It is just a bit deeper than my R1400 and fits nicely on my desk. The 3000 produces brilliant images that accurately reflect the color on my MacBook Pro screen. The output is just stunning! It is the PERFECT photo printer for the serious amateur or professional photographer with limited desk space.

My wife and I are Artists ...

By ianr from Washington State on 08/03/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My wife and I are Artists and use our Epson R3000 in our business for making reproductions of much of our Artwork. It is great, easy to use and produces superb quality reproductions of our work. My only regret if you can call it that, is that we did not purchase a wider format printer. In the future I can see us owning a 17" or even a 24" Epson, but for now the R 3000 is perfect for our needs.

R3000 user observations

By Marty from Michigan on 08/02/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I am pleased with the quality of the prints that my R3000 is capable of producing. The only problem that I have had is that from time to time it does not recognize that it is connected to my computer. I will make 3 or 4 prints and suddenly a dialogue box will pop up saying that the the printer is not connected. It does this with a physical connection as well as wireless. ????????????????????????????????????????????????

Almost Perfection

By MrDane from Cranbrook, BC Canada on 08/02/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This printer is utterly awesome. It's versatile with being able to do roll stock as well as heavier materials. That being said, the only reason I wouldn't give this printer a 5 star rating is that when using the fine art loading tray, I always get a smudge or a scuff mark on the leading edge about 1 inch into the print. Because of the this, I never use this print method and always stick to the standard feed tray. This is a big limitation and should be considered. Print quality is simply incredible and ink consumption is good, just don't switch between matte black and photo black too often.

Epson R3000

By Lauren from Hamden, CT on 08/01/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Overall this is a fine printer - making beautiful color photos ... although the feature of manually having to change the black ink from matt black to photo black depending on the media is not only a nuisance - it wastes ink each time the change is made ... Before this printer I had a similar Epson printer - the R1800 which did everything this one does without having to manually switch black inks- it did it automatically -- it was far more convenient and it was less expensive.

The Best Printer I ever owned.

By Chalkman from Brooklyn, NY on 08/01/2013

Bottom Line:

I have been a professional photographer for over 40 years. I had a big show of my work coming up and I was determined not to use a service bureau for my prints. I purchased my R3000 and a box of 13x19 Cold Press Bright paper. I read all I could about the printer, confired with a friend Who owned one and started to print. From that box of 25 sheets of paper I got 25 exquisite prints ... Not a sheet was wasted! I can't say enough about the quality of this printer! My show has been down for three months and I am still selling prints!

Best 13" wide printer available

By REB from Coos Bay, OR on 08/01/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I love my Epson R3000. I typically use 13x19 premium luster paper or pearl metallic paper and it prints very accurately on these both. Colors are rich and vibrant, resolution is stunning, black and whites are perfect. I have only printed on Quality "4" with high speed turned off. I wonder if Quality "5" would be a noticeable increase? Never had a single paper feed problem or bleed issues, even when printing multiple borderless 8.5x11 prints. Can't wait to try 13" rolls and do some really wide landscapes. Only regret is that I did not save up more money and spring for the next one up that does 17" wide.

Perfect printer

I have been using Epson wide-format printers for years; starting with Epson Photo Stylus 1400 and recently upgrading to an Epson Stylus Photo R 3880. Needing a second printer in another location, I purchased the Stylus Photo R3000 and couldn't be happier. It is so easy to use, with directions on how and where to load paper very clear in the printer's window. It alerts me about changing ink from matte to photo and when I've made a mistake in loading paper. I primarily use fine art matte paper and it handles various kinds easily and well. Bravo!

I've now run approximately 750 prints off using this printer. It is easy to use, the ink cartridges are simple to change, and the printer goes-goes-goes. I particularly like having the range of blacks this printer has. Combining that with Exhibition Fiber paper makes the best prints possible using a home printer. I highly recommend this printer to any amateur who wants to do their own printing at a professional level. Price wise the printer is a bargain.

Great Printer but Worried about Warranty Expiring

By Mike D from Orange CA on 08/01/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is a great printer, especially for glossy but also for matte prints. I have used a number of papers and they all seem to work well. The images I print are from Photoshop 6 and the screen to printer matches really well. When one of the heads clogged and couldn't be fixed with software, Epson, under warranty, exchanged it very quickly at no cost to myself. However, I am concerned about repairs after my warranty expires. I live in Orange County, California and there are no Epson authorized, carry-in repair shops anywhere. The printer has to be sent by Federal Express back to Epson.

Great Printer

By Pete from Southern Calif on 08/01/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The quality of the prints is outstanding, better than I expected. The only downside is you have to be very careful when loading the paper in the front tray. If you're not careful the corners tend to catch on the mechanism in the printer and causes the paper to jam. Once I was aware of this it hasn't been a problem. I would recommend this printer to a friend.

Hardware setup was straight forward and the printer started up as described in the instructions. Software install went smoothly until it asked to install an update. The printer had printed a test page at the end of the first install. After installing the update, the software created an error and looped, printing nothing useable. I reinstalled the original software and still had problems. I deleted the software completely and reinstalled. After the last install of the software the printer worked as I expected. It is very quiet while printing and after getting the profiles for photographic printing set correctly, it does a beautiful job.

I have only had the Epson R 3000 a short time and I,m still refining the settings; however, I'm most impressed with the "what I see on my H D monitor is what I obtain in the print. The tones are a very brightness are a very close my to the displayed image. It is a very sophisticated printer that trades off a lot of printing capability flexibility with a lot of settings that must be carefully selected for optimum performance. R3000 - Powerful Printer in a Small Package

By TonyNYC from New York, NY on 06/27/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I purchased the R3000 to temporarily replace my 24" Epson 7890 that was destroyed in Hurricane Sandy. Until I move to my permanent studio and I know what space I will have to accommodate a larger Epson printer, the R3000 is filling in for my art. I print on aluminum as well as paper for my art; so I need an archival pigment printer that holds up to the rigors of my printing needs. In almost every way, the R3000 rivals my 7890. It's 13 x 19 paper limit and 13" roll feed forces me to print in sections but that hasn't hampered me. It uses the same pigment inks as the 7890 in smaller cartridges; so while they are used up quicker, the cost to replace spent inks is far less expensive. I started using the wireless feature of the printer but print times were very slow and on those days of bad wifi connections, impossible. So I now use the USB connection which is very fast. I haven't noticed any slower print times from my 7890. Print quality is excellent. I see no appreciative differences from the larger pro models. My only criticism is the roll feed. The lack of a spindle on the roll paper holder doesn't allow for the use of rolls less than 13" and the ends that hold the paper roll are flimsy and don't attach sturdily to the printer. My aluminum rolls only come in 12" widths. I was able to insert a PVC pipe into the roll paper holder ends which has worked, but it's less than an acceptable workaround. Epson has no plans on developing a spindle for the roll feeder either. While the R3000 certainly doesn't cost as much as their pro line, it's price would dictate a better approach to roll feed. All in all, the R3000 is a great printer and will become a nice adjunct to my studio once I purchase either a 17" or 24" Epson.

I've had an R1800 for years that replaced an R2200. Despite regularly calibrating my Eizo monitor and trying every CS6 and camera setting available, I was seldom happy with image vs. print results. I installed the R3000, let CS6 control color and got near perfect matching. I don't even have to adjust brightness for printing. What a pleasure! Second time around

By Laurie from Tucson, AZ on 06/15/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I am a professional photographer selling my original outdoor art/photography at 16 or so shows a year. I also print for 60 other artists and photographers. Printing small work is painful on my bigger (44") Epson printer. The 3000 is perfect for all the smaller work including cards, magnets, etc. The colors are an excellent match for those in the big printer and the settings are similar, so that it makes a good test bed even when I am intending on a much larger print. The larger ink supplies and the lower amount of fuss switching between matte and photo black make this machine far superior in cost and time to Epson's lower-level machines. The lower cost and ease with small material make it superior to the mid-range (17 inch) machines. I chew these babies up every 2-3 years, working them to death. So I have pronounced my satisfaction by buying another one of the exact same kind (repair guy is coming to revive the first one tomorrow). PS--stay away from the manufacturers who would sell you a dye-based product or something failing to absolutely be able to match your camera's color profiles--I won't mention any names. We match Epson printers, inks, and papers/canvases and get a guaranteed fine result.

After several years owning the Stylus Photo R300, it finally started to fall apart and my research led me away from the R2000 to the R3000 mostly because of the issue of ink usage. I really was concerned about the (wireless) set up and there was a slight hiccup in the process. A quick phone call to support, however, and it was straightened out. Epson Stylus Photo R3000 Inkjet Printer

By Art from New York state on 06/01/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Prior to this R3000 I owned (and loved) the Epson R2880 printer for about 2 years. It was flawless in its end results, but the limitations of its ink cartridge size and the need to manually exchange black inks based on the paper type to be printed on wore thin over time. The R3000 includes all of the 2880's quality attributes (if not better!) with the added convenience of double-sized ink reservoirs and automatic ink swapping when going to/from matte paper. Although I didn't think much about it at the time of purchase, the wireless capability of the R3000 has made using and storing it a pleasure. No longer to I have to swamp my computer area with a tethered printer. I can place the printer on the other side of the room near a power supply and my paper stash freeing my computer area for other chores. I love this printer!!

R3000

By Len from Florida on 05/19/2013

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Compared to the R2400 the R3000 is a downgrade, imo. Working from Mac OS Mountain Lion its necessary to download printer drivers rather than insert a cd. Down load took over 2.5 hrs. - an unacceptably long time. Paper size selection, for sizes not listed, is not intuitive and not described in the Basics h/b that comes with the machine. Attempting matte paper printing takes for ever - an 11x14 Matte HW paper took over 1.25 hrs of 'printing sending data to printer' - this with an PK to MK switch - I gave up and abandoned the attempt. ICI Profiles for Epson's newer papers are not loaded and need to be downloaded. After printing 4 off 11x14 and 2 off 8x10 glossy prints the PK ink showed as near empty. Not a good performance! Based on this it does seem that the R3000 drinks PK ink.

Top of The Line

By Badger from Texas on 04/25/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is a top of the line printer for those who want consistantly high quality prints every time. As far as I know, no other printer can match Epsons engineering. I was looking for a printer that would render black and white images as good as your best photo labs can produce. I have found it in the Epson R3000. The images are as good as you can make them. I have read complaints about how much ink this printer uses. In my experience, this machine uses no more ink than any other quality printer. The cost of the inks seem high but you are getting twice the amount of ink when compared to smaller printers. Also, you are buying pigmented inks. This printer and the inks are worth every penny. If you compare the cost of a photo lab to this printer, the Epson is by far much more cost effective. Plus, you are in complete control. If you don't like the first results, then just change your settings and print again. No waiting for an outside print lab to get it right. I use to print color and black and white in a wet darkroom. Not so much any more. This is the way to go. It leaves me more time for creativity. One more note. Before I purchased this printer, I pondered over the R3000 vs the R3880. I liked the idea of larger prints with the R3880 but I also like the idea of the wi-fi with the R3000. In the end I decided on the R3000. To me, the wi-fi was more important than larger prints. Besides, all the years I printed in a dark room, I probably only made 5 or 6 16x20 prints. I made 100s of 8x10s and 11x14s. So, it was a no brainer for me. Why buy something with a feature you may seldom use. I can go to a lab for that. Of course, this is just my preferences. Your needs may be different.

Expected better

By Mike from Jacksonville, FL on 04/22/2013

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I put my first R3000 in service 10/2011. Epson swapped that one out while under warranty during 10/2012. The replacement had similar problems. The print head leaks black ink on my prints and ruins them at unpredictable times. My warranty is over and my R3000 is now a fixture in my storage closet as I have moved on to a competitive printer that has put a smile on my face.

R3000 has an unwelcome feature

By Card lady from Grayson, GA on 04/16/2013

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

For many years I owned an Epson R1800 which did everything I needed very well. When it finally died I was recommended the R3000 by the teacher of a class that I took at a local photography store. I bought one, but found out after setting it up that it has a feature which seems really stupid. The Photo Black and the Matt Black inks use the same line - which has to be purged each time you want to switch from one to the other. This is time consuming and wastes a lot of ink (about 1/8 of a cartridge I think). I mostly use a Photo Printer for two kinds of items. One is for large format photographs to be entered in juried exhibitions. The R3000 produces great colors for this and makes the pictures look good. However, I also make greeting cards with glossy photos on the outside and matte text on the inside. This hobby, which I had turned into a small business, has come to an abrupt stop because the ink wastage is ridiculous. As soon as I can afford it I will look for a more useful replacement for the R1800 and pass on the R3000. Potential buyers should be aware of this issue before making the purchase.

The Stylus Photo R3000 Replaced a Epson Photo 1400. Used the 1400 and will use the R3000 for photos only. The R3000 printed a exelant test page. What a deference in color and definition from the 1400. Grate color and shades of gray. Ted.

Great Printer just a few flaws

By saboken from Johnstown, PA on 03/04/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

So far it looks great the box was missing the accessory box but that should be fixed soon, what I like it looks better than my R2400 and it has wireless and Ethernet connections! what I don't like is it only take 13" roll paper unlike the R2400 I have other size paper I can't use now that I used on my old R2400 that has been put to rest I don't know why Epson did not put extra notches in the back for the roll paper holder to take other size paper? this I feel should have been a feature on a upper model!! did I upgrade or downgrade? with this purchase I should have not assumed it had all the features and this is my fault but I am not going to return it. It's to big and heavy to move around make sure you have space to set this up it's bigger than my custom built desktop that everyone says is to big.

Beware limitations on paper types

By LeslieR from Undisclosed on 02/27/2013

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I purchased this printer to augment my Stylus Pro 7900 -- so I could print smaller sizes, greeting cards etc. I spent hours trying to get the printer to feed the Inkpress 7x10 greeting cards -- sometimes it would load and print, but mostly it just spit out the paper. Now, after 30 min. on the phone with tech support, I have learned that the main top feeder can't take paper stock over 10mil. What?! Most quality photo stock is >10 mil. If all you want to do is print 8.5 x 11" or larger paper, this printer is great -- when the paper does feed, the print quality is exceptional.

Epson Stylus Photo R3000

By Cindy from Michigan on 02/14/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My friend recommended this printer to me and it clearly surpassed my expectations. His printer is an earlier version of mine. Epson really stepped up the options on this model by adding more ink colors/blacks, larger variety of paper/media to print on including - Canvas, CD/DVD, etc. The colors in photos really pop out. Also this model includes the newer options like a mode for Black and White photos and Roll Paper up to 44 inches! When I purchased this Printer I was able to get a $150 rebate too! You can't go wrong with this Model!

Best Wireless Large Format Printer, Period!

By Sunny Bleek from Los Angeles,Ca. on 02/07/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The Epson R3000 hands down is the best wireless large format printer for home use hands down. I've owned this printer since it's release. My Photo Studio is upstairs and my office is located down stairs. Going wireless makes for easy work flow. The print quality is truly photo gallery ready. I've never seen better B&W photos with more blacker blacks from any other printer. Print speed is very good for large prints and excellent for B&W prints. My only gripe is sitting up print margins for photos larger than 8.5 x 11.5 could be much smoother. This printer is a must for any Pro Photographer and advance Photographer who cares about their work.

Epson R3000 Casual User Review

By hammong from Sparks, MD on 01/29/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

After nearly eight years of faithful service from my Epson R2400, I decided the time had come for an upgrade. Even though my R2400 still prints great, there were several key features of the R3000 that compelled me to purchase the new printer, including the ability to print CD/DVDs, the straight-path manual feed capability, increased ink capacity, and 802.11n Wi-Fi support. The out-of-box unpacking experience was extremely straight forward. The included Epson quick-start sheet was easy to follow, and there were no surprises with regard to removing the packing materials and setting up the new ink cartridges. The printer is almost identical in size to the older R2400, but you do need a little more room behind the R3000 to accomodate the straight paper-path when using the manual feed option. It is not recommended to put this printer directly against a wall if you will utilize art board or some of the more rigid fine art papers. While Wi-Fi setup on the R3000 was simple, you might wish to connect the printer via USB to your computer initially so that you can update the Firmware to the latest version. Epson has released several Firmware updates for the R3000 to address key functions, so an upgrade to the latest is strongly recommended. Firmware may possible via Wi-Fi, but the update application indicates a USB connection is required. Print quality so far has been exceptional on Epson Premium Glossy 4x6 borderless photo paper, Premium White Inkjet 8.5x11", Avery smooth-edge double sided inket business cards, and Intuit pre-printed check stock. I use the R3000 for general purpose every-day printing, in addition to occasional photo printing. The build quality appears to be very sturdy and well laid out. I cannot comment about long term reliability of the R3000 at this time, due to my short ownership. But, if the R3000 is anything like my trusty R2400, I look forward to a long and happy relationship with this new printer.

Awesome machine

By BrendaLou from Denver CO on 01/28/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I love this thing, I'm just really getting used to it because I've only had it 4 days now, but the draft mode is 100% better than the fine mode on my canon (which is now recycled to my dad's house), amazing color. The thing that really surprised me it how small the machine is. it fits perfectly on my shelf. I thought it would be much bigger. - don't get me wrong it is a larger machine, but its a small larger machine. If you can afford it, buy it.

Excellent print quality

By Glenn 10-13 from Westminster, MD on 01/28/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A Christmas present which I have had only limited opportunity to use. Based upon the limited use, I am VERY impressed with the quality of the prints. I have printed on both glossy and matte finishes, and the products were truly professional in appearance. Be aware that this printer has a relatively large footprint and is heavy, so keep those facts in mind as you plan a location for it. Based upon my measurements, it requires about 7" of clearance in the back for the trays and at least a similar amount in the front. Compared to other similar printers, overall I would say that this is worth the money; with the initial purchase, you get a full complement of ink, not starter or sampler cartridges.

Excellent printer

By Beau from Bunkerville NV on 01/12/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Quick to install (USB) photo's came out great, perfect color match. I printed 12x12 with perfection, my other printer which I replaced with the Epson, did not print 12x12.(digital scrapbooking) My other printer did a real good jog on the 13x19's but I feel the Epson is a better match for color matching of original photo's. I would recomend this printer to any professional or amature photographer. My friends think I take my photo's to a professional for developing, some day I'll tell them the truth! The big foot I read about in other review's exagerated, it is not as big as some printer's that are compariable.

I am a fine arts large ...

By LF Bob from Philadelphia, PA on 01/10/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I am a fine arts large format (8x10) B&W photographer. I have been slow in embrassing the digital world and am certainly not a computer type guy. After setting up my new printer I scanned an 8x10 contact print. I then followed the instruction for printing it on soft gloss paper. My first attemps did not work out as expected because I simply don't follow instructions well. On my next attempt I was successful and was astounded at the results. The detail, tonality, and overall quality of the print exceeded my expectations. I could not have been more impressed. While I have not had the printer long I'm confident that I will become addicted to it in no time. The only negative that I can fine is the substantial loss of ink when changing from print black to matte black, but the print quality certainly makes up for the loss. I do not hessitate to recommend the printer to those who appreciate fine image quality.

R3000, Drinks Black Ink.

By Kayakgreg from Bradenton, Fl on 01/01/2013

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Print Quality is great, but, switching between Photo Black and Matte Black drinks up a great amount of INK. Where does it go Epson? I would like more control over Black Ink choices as I prefer Matte with all types of media. Epson you need to give us back control and drop this automatic black nonsense which drinks far too much INK. When the better model comes out let me know.

Bottom Line:

I was pleased with how effective and rapid the setup was for this wireless printer. I am very pleased with the quality of the prints. On at least two times, something happened which caused the printer to completely lock up. I don't know exactly what happened. It may have started with not putting in the paper correctly so that it fed. However, no button on the printer produced any reaction. I could only overcome the situation by unplugging the power cable, waiting until the printer turned completly off, and plugging it in again.

Evaluation of the Epson stylus color 3000 printer

By blfmd69 from Las Cruces on 12/08/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This printer is a good compromise between the lesser color printers and the higher priced professional printers, and is therefore suitable for the hobbyist digital photographer. The installation was easy until I was asked whether I wanted to download an upgrade to the drivers. After agreeing and downloading the upgrade, the printer failed to work right until I uninstalled it and reinstalled it with the original drivers. The print quality is excellent and a significant improvement over other printers using 4-6 color cartridges. It allows for high quality large format photographic prints as well as smaller prints. The availability of roll feed of print paper is useful for photostitched mural size products. I cannot comment on the durability of the ink cartridges, as I have only made 30 or so prints at this stage, but others have said that it uses ink prolifically. I am using it with a variety of papers from different manufacturers and it does a good job with several. This printer benefits from taking the photos with a higher quality digital camera, rather than a single lens pocket camera. Photoshop Elements does not provide automatic color correction for this printer or for a variety of papers. If the Photoshop CSS product has these corrections, the result may be better than can be obtained with Elements alone. Overall, I would recommend this printer as a step up from lower priced printers as it is reasonably priced and well worth the additional money.

R3000 - yes it prints canvas!!

By philNW from Bremerton, WA on 11/18/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

One's first day with any new product is always a challenge in my experience. The first thing that impressed me is how well the printer is packaged, obviously designed to protect the printer during shipping - it counts for a lot in my mind. Secondly, the quick start guide really helps one get started and i followed it religiously. I had hoped i'd get something printed the first day - and it actually happened. (I usually use sRGB and send my prints to a large box store for printing) Using the same settings, I was quite surprised that my very first 4x6 print looked exactly like the image on my laptop screen, and frankly looked better than what i've been getting out of the box store. Thirdly, with the 4x6 success, i thought i would try a canvas print. I had bought a 13"x20' roll of Epson Glossy canvas, and surprisingly it came with the 2" center core, suitable for the 2" core of the R3000. One of the reviews i had read had dissed the R3000 roll accessory, saying that the prints are too curved to straighten out and it has a small core. So i had planned on cutting sheets from the canvas roll prior to feeding them into the machine. Without any optimism, i put the canvas roll on the roll accessory and hooked them onto the back of the machine. Quite surprised how well it worked. Did a 12"x20" print (off the roll) that looked every bit as good as what i normally receive from the commercial canvas printer that i send my orders to. It had a little curvature after printing it, but overnight, that has largely disappeared and it won't be a problem after i staple it to the stretcher bars. Suggestion to Epson: I would be more than willing to buy a 3" core roller accessory for my R3000 and think you guys ought to build it. Most canvas rolls use a 3" core rather than the 2" core that comes with the R3000 so the 3" core would help in terms of availability. I think Epson was thinking in terms of compactness, but to me thats a lesser concern than availability of canvas. (It has no immediate impact on me because the 2" core roll is available from some stores-but still, why not go with the industry standard?) Thanks for building such a wonderful printer - its something i'm going to enjoy and use for a long time.

By jmpgfoto from Los Angeles, CA on 11/12/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had many Epson printers but this is my first wide format. Excellent flexibility and I like the idea that it can be used wireless, USB, or on a network although we use USB. Output and flexibility are excellent, great quality. Will print on a wide range of media including printable CDs and DVDs plus can print banners using roll media. The only negative I can think of is that charging ink and printout is quite slow but them I'm accustomed to smaller format so maybe that is normal.

Very good photo prints

By ken from Denver,Colo on 11/01/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had this printer for over a year now. I now wish the ink came in larger volumes but I knew what I was getting when I purchased the printer. It does everything I wanted and more. I thought I would use the roll paper feature all the time but haven't used it yet. Once when I was putting two prints on the same paper I made a mistake and put the same print on twice at the same location on the paper. The second print fit exactly over the first, no loss of detail, it was amazing how accurate the placement was. Doubling the color on the print also had interesting effects that I plan to use in the future. I really like this printer but if I were to talk to someone I would recommend if they could afford it the 3880 just to go 17inch wide. Other than wishing for bigger, I wouldn't change a thing.

I'm over-joyed with this printer! I bought it to print reproductions of my Watercolor paintings, each print is so close to the original painting...my Mom couldn't tell the difference. In my opinion, the prints seem to look better than the original. I probably over-bought when I purchased this but I figure it will last me for a long time. I love that the ink cartridges are double the capacity of the R2880....that was probably the biggest reason I went with the R3000, and that it's wireless. :) Great printer! Love it!

Wow I'm very impressed

By Gman from Lansing, MI on 10/25/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is my first Epson printer, I used plenty in school well working on my photography certificate I had no desire to buy one. Well, after a few photo job and creative photo work there was a need to put control of the color back in my hands and out of others (print shops). I thought I'd start out small before jumping to the pro ranks (4880 or 4900 series). This printer is more than I expected so I ran it through its paces printing out 5x7 in, 8x10 in and a 13x19 in matte print all in one day I'm so impressed with this printer. I had to stop before I turned my house into print studio. I love this printer did mention how impressed I'm with it.

So easy for perfect prints

By Deacon from Portland, Or on 10/22/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Having passed off my 2200 to my church I needed to replace it and there was no other consideration other than the 3000 or 3880. I am not a "heavy" user but certainly more than most. My past experiences with Epson products keeps me in the fold as they are virtually flawless when installed properly and calibrated. It took me all of 15 minutes to install the printer and software and begin printing accurate reproductions of the digital images. The colors are accurate, rich and precise. The one thing I did not even pay attention to was the thicker media printing such as on cd's and hardboard. This added feature from the 2200 has proved to present professional cd's and marketing materials that before I had to have done at outside sources; saving time and money!

A LOT of Printer

By EEWdad from Snohomish, WA on 10/19/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Just unboxed and set it up.. and I can tell you it is a very nice piece of printing equipment. Huge [*huge*] step up from our Epson R800 both in size and quality. The amount of printer your money buys once you cross over to the near professional side is nothing shy of amazing. Said differently, it appears that spending twice the money gets you more than twice the printer. The couple of 8-1/2x11" prints I've made so far are simply stunning. The print color is impressive and accurate. Well-crafted, it is an impressive printer. The drivers loaded quickly to my Win7 machine; it prints quickly and quiety; included documentation is very good; next I'll "cut" the USB cord and give the wireless capability a try. One nit, the tiny little display is okay for seeing ink levels or changing to/from matte black ink; yet on a printer this large, it seems a larger display would be appropriate - regardless, it works just fine.

Great printer

By jackphotoman from MD on 10/19/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I look at the 2880 and the 3880, but the r3000 had the everything I needed and the rebate made it affordable. Beside after looking hard at these printers and reading the reviews I really wanted the 4900. Anyways, I have been using this printer just a few days so I can not talk about the durability, but this printer rocks the prints are great! The colors are robust and the black and white are smoking. In addition to the super photos the time it take is fast compared to other models I have had. The cost of ink is a bit high per ml the long run it around 1.15/ml vs 0.75 for the large 17 inch models. I would buy this model again or upgrade to a larger model if money was not an issue.

R300

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Had to order a new printer after my old faithful R2200 finally bit the dust. The R300 was easy to setup, and printed flawlessly right out of the box. It's faster too! I'm hoping for several years of reliable performance. Thanks Epson for making a great product for us artists.

Amazing Colors and Very Easy to Install

By Legatude from Phoenix, AZ on 10/12/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We have always been Epson printer fans. We like to print our photos at home, create photo books and brochures, and have had much success with our prior Epson model. The R3000 is absolutely fabulous and it was very easy for us to install (and we are certainly not techies). I would definitely recommend this printer to anyone looking for the highest quality color photos and other color media.

Awesome!

By Brandon from North Carolina on 10/01/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I don't really have too much experience with pro printers, but this one is awesome! I have been printing my pro photography work at adorama for years, and quite frankly this will replace that process. Right out of the box it took about 10 minutes to setup and print. I printed an 8x10 and was floored by the quality. Perfect tones and colors. Great highlights and shadows. My next printer will be a true Epson large format printer!

EPSON Stylus Photo R3000 Inkjet Printer

By Mike from Bay Area, California on 09/28/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have owned Epson Printers for over 15 years and still use my R200 for small prints. The color has always been tops with me, but this new R3000 printer does Black and White prints that are stunning. I am old school and have done my share of wet process black and white printing, and the prints that come out of this Epson are incredible, and I did not even try changing the standard setting. Great Job Epson.

Another great printer from Epson

By Allen816 from Littleton, Colorado on 09/22/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I recently upgraded to the R3000 from my old R1800, what a great decision. The R3000 was very easy to set up and have printing in just a few minutes. The wireless connection was simple and works flawlessly. I have finished a sample run of prints, both from Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6 and I must say they came out far better than expected for the first try. A couple of easy tweaks to my print file and they now match perfectly. Vibrant colors that closely matched the image my Eizo monitor. Fast printing, large ink supply, wireless, great color. I am very pleased

Great photo printer

By Juan Z from North Potomac, MD on 09/06/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Relatively easy to download the software and installed on my Mac OS X 10.7.4 computers. The Wi-Fi connectivity was also installed. I upgraded from an old Epson Stylus 2200 because the paper profiles are not available for new software (reason for the 4 stars), and also for the new inks available for the R3000. The downloaded software included the profiles for most papers I use. The Epson document "Color Management Guide" had me printing great prints almost as good as my calibrated Adobe RGB (1998) display in a few minutes after printer installation. As I use the printer further I may find other problems, but so far so good. The ability to print CD/DVDs, and automatic switch of Photo Black to Matte Black, is icing on the cake.

R3000 Great Printer

By Gerry from The Villages, Florida on 09/04/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've only had the R3000 for a month but have used it daily to print DVD and CD labels in my videography business. Does a wonderful job, faster and better quality then my old Epson 2200 which I thought couldn't be beat. The ink is a lot more costly but it seems to last a lot longer (2X+) than the ink for my 2200.

Finally!

By Amala from providence, RI on 08/26/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

It took me some time to decide on the r3000 Photo Inkjet Printer. I went back and forth also considering the r2000 to be the "one." This is a big investment. The r2000 is less expensive and has a very nice feature that coats glossy prints. The reviews say that it is "punchy." which I also like. However, the r3000 was reviewed as being more "realistic" in it's finished product and I easily figured out how to make pictures "punchy" in post processing. I'm pleased to be back with Epson. My first printer was an Epson a zillion years ago. I'm sorry I strayed! First of all, the printer comes with fully filled cartridges. Nice touch, Epson! It took me less then 20 minutes to load the r3000 into my Macbook Pro and get on line. I was printing within a half an hour of unpacking and setting up on my printer table. I don't have as much time as I'd like to work with my photographs. Having a printer that doesn't jam, prints true out of the gate, and hums along without any clatter is a joy. The day after this purchase I bought an Epson 400 to be on my home network and to handle documents. It was inexpensive and as easy to set up. Also, I am extremely satisfied with this product.

Stylus Photo R3000"" Perfect color at last!

By desert_light from Tucson, Arizona on 08/22/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My new Stylus Photo R3000 gives me perfect, manageable, repeatable color results every time. After creating a profile to match the printer to my calibrated display, the R3000 produces fine art prints that faithfully deliver what I see in Photoshop. The K3 inks accurately reproduce the full range of colors from the most subtle to the most vivid, and I have been able to produce exhibition quality toned black-and-white prints without difficulty. I would love to see higher capacity ink cartridges for this printer.

Epson R 3000

As a professional photographer the Epson R3000 gives me top quality prints. I am more than satisfied with this printer. It replaces a Stylus 2400 that I had for ten years and finally wore out. Best printer I have ever owned.

Beautiful Color and Quality...and fast

By shotsi from New York, NY on 07/25/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Just got the R3000 after having the 2200 for several years. A big leap in quality, color, and speed. Love it already. Two slightly inconvenient features: having to manually switch from PK to MK on the epson screen. I wish the printer switched back and forth automatically. Also having to manual feed thicker paper in front...but otherwise beautiful repros of my watercolors, paintings, and drawings...

Epson3K

By copben from Grand Junction, CO on 06/22/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

After extensive research and reading other reviews I chose this printer and I'm not disappointed. The ability to connect via Wi-Fi was very important to me and the $150 rebate was an added incentive. It is a very sturdy well constructed and a very quiet printer, so quite you don't even know it is running. Setup was fast and easy. I have used the Epson R3000 for a few weeks and a few dozen photos, it was easy to install and although the printer settings can easily be tweaked, the default settings work very well right out of the box. The quality in the color of my printed photographs is the best of any printer I've ever owned. I love the ability to change from photo black to matte black. The only thing that chaps me about this printer is the amount of ink that gets lost due to switching from matte black to photo black or vice versa considering the high cost of the R3000 ink cartridges. I am very happy with this purchase. It is a great printer and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a printer that prints very high quality photos.

Falling off a Log

By Willy from Dallas, TX on 05/30/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The Stylus Photo R3000 is perfect for a serious amature photographer. It is also very kind to the technically challenged when setting it up, especially attaching to a network. The first thing I noticed was that it has few moving parts that need to be attached. The only items were the ink cartridges. Simplicity is good. The first image I printed was beautiful, detail esquisite, color clear and crisp. This replaces a 2880R and the difference is extreme in favor of the R3000.

First Epson, R3000

By ShootnPrint from Palmyra, Va on 04/18/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is what I would call, my first real photo printer. I am really enjoying this printer. Setup was a snap and test prints were spectacular. Now if I can match my photography to the quality of this printer I will be in business. To date I have only printed color and only a few test images. But instructions are clear, printing is fast and the output is sharp.

Going with the Epson R3000 Printer

By Cat Tail 409 from Washington DC on 04/01/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I like Epson printers. The Epson R3000 Printer is my fourth Epson Printer. I started out with a 1280 model, moved to a 1800 model (loved that glossy look) and then went to a 2880 because I wanted to do Black & White, which I thought the 2880 did superbly. But my 2880 rear paper feed never really worked with any consistency and when the pump and other noises began to make me think that the old 2880 was on its last legs I decided to spring for the R3000 rather than take the risk that a new 2880 would simply have the same rear paper feed problems. Plus, Epson advertised that the R3000 offered better color, so I went for it. Installation & set up of the 3000 went well. There have been a few changes but nothing big and if you have used Epson printers previously you should not have any problems. Printing with the Top Sheet feeder is basically the same as the other Epson products. There has been a redesign in the way that thick Fine Art paper is installed. Rather than feed these papers through the rear as in previous designs, the Fine Art Paper is now inserted through a paper tray in the front where the printer grabs it, feeds it through to the rear where the machine aligns it prior to feeding the paper back into the printer it to make the print. I found the directions for this process rather opaque in the owners manual and had to call Epson for explanation which Epson provided without any problem. Once you get the feel for the process things go fine, but the process requires you to follow explicit prompts on the screen in the front of the printer. This process takes time though, the machine is in control, it takes its time and you cannot hurry it. The good news is that there have no paper jams. I have not yet decided on the print quality. I have printed everything on Level 4 Quality. The first prints I made on Cold Press paper seemed to have a little more vividness but it is hard to tell. The monochrome prints I have made do not seem to have the great tonal values that I got with the 2880, but that may be a case of me getting used to the machine. The negative comment I have is Ink Consumption. The R3000 seems to suck up ink like the desert sands absorb water. Ink consumption is definitely much higher with the R3000 than the 2880. My preliminary estimate is that consumption is up by as much as 50%. I am going to have to reduce the number of casual prints I make with this machine simply because of this increase in ink consumption. The prints are nice though. Except for the consumption issue I am pleased with my printer but if you are considering a purchase think about how you will be using the machine.

The R3000 is a big improvement!

By DrMickey from Jacksonville, Florida on 02/11/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have been printing my own photos up to Super B (13x19) size for several years, but my previous dye printer needed a print head replacement. I changed brands and bought the Epson and I am so pleased with its performance. Colors are rich and deep, and where I see a huge improvement is black and white...no more green tint! This is a printer to explore and experiment with, to be sure, but my first print with the R3000 came out absolutely perfect, and I get to use certain fine art papers I could never use before. What a treat!

R3000

By SeedGeek from Lee, IL on 01/01/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My focus is on landscape and macro photography. The Epson R3000 conveys accurate colors and shadows. The tank supply is sufficient to be much more practical for a high volume quality photo printer. I have waited three months to review this product so that I actually have the experience to focus on elements that are important to me. I have managed to print a number of prosumer high quality photos on this printer, several of which I have been encouraged to submit to contests. I have used a variety of glossy, matte and satin papers of a number of weights. This Epson has successfully handled virtually all forms of paper that I have tried to feed it. Previous Epsons that I have had in the past have not been capable of feeding the variety of weights that I have put through the R3000.
