Bottom Line:

The Er-6's are good pair of headphones that are comfortable, portable and most of all sound good. Now to most who are reading this "sound good" is as subjective as it gets and are looking for some hard facts and I think I can help with that. The frequency response is pretty flat but does roll of a little early on both ends. The sensitivity could be better but for most standard portable music devices, these will be more than fine. I would not recommend them for critical listening or a substitue for in ear monitors because I not all that pleased with the fit. I can get the left to sit right and seal properly but the right ear just does not want to cooperate. In comparison to some of the other higher models that are out there such as bose and the sures, these are orders of magnitude better. The sures I had before these and they were all over the map. Not sure what those guys are selling for $150 but it sure isnt quality headphones. The Bose are just as bad. Had those when they first came out as a replacement for the iPod headphones and they really werent much better. Again for $100, skip em. These so far are the best bang for the buck. Quality sound for an affordable price but still not a replacement for in ear monitors. Hope this helps.

"This is the second pair ...

By Tom Verified Reviewer from Undisclosed on 05/08/2005

This is the second pair of Er6c's I've owned. Unfortunately, I left the first pair on an airplane. I owned that pair for about a year. I have also owned a pair of Sony noise cancelling headphones that cover your ears -- like the Koss ones that are popular now. I paid about $250 almost 10 years ago. They work great and I enjoyed them. However, when traveling, space is at a premium. Therefore, when a friend told me about the Er6's, I gave them a try. I must admit, I was scepticle at first. How could something so tiny, drown out the airplane noise. As importantly, I couldn't beleive they could deliver any real bass. WRONG! These are fantastic. Vs the Sony's or Koss (which I haven't worn), they block ambient noise equally as well. The bass is unbelievable. The bonus features are that they are really, really small and lightweight and are priced significantly less than full size noise cancelling headphones. It takes a little training to learn how to "seat" them in your ears. If not properly "installed", they don't work well. This is a minor startup issue that is quickly learned. I recommend the ER6's 100%. [...]
