I upgraded to PS3 from the Original Xbox. I liked the Xbox controller and hated the PS3 controller, so I bought this Nyko to approximate the feel of the Xbox. For that, it's great! I can't stand using the PS3 controller because I'm so hooked on the feel of this one. But there are some things that you have to put up with and some things that are just plain bad.
First, the acceptable bad things: The rechargeable battery pack dies young. I don't mean you have to recharge it often, I mena it DIES DEAD. Fortunately, Nyko included an empty battery pack that can accept rechargeable AA batteries. I'm OK with that.
Next, realize that this is NOT a bluetooth controller like the standard PS3. It cannot turn on your system (though it can turn it off) and it requires the included USB dongle to function. Worse yet, if you have two of these you have to use two USB dongles, so you can quickly run out of USB ports. I had to add a USB hub to my PS3 40GB system so I could recharge my controllers without having to unplug the dongles.
Now for the really bad. The D-Pad is very flimsy and cheap feeling. That particularly stands out because everything else about this controller is so well made and feels so sturdy. I don't use the D-pad much, but if you do you might want to find another controller.
If you want a nice Xbox feeling controller and don't mind a wimpy D-pad, I really recommend the Nyko Zero. In spite of it's faults, I own three of them and wouldn't use anything else.
One more thing to note: Nyko introduced a "shock" version of this controller and foolishly didn't change the name or model number. If feedback's important to you, be sure to pay careful attention when you buy one to be sure it has that feature. The one's I bought here at Beach Audio are the good ones with vibration included!
