The charger was defective out of the box, in that the fan which is supposed to keep the batteries cool during charging never came on, allowing them to overheat. I called Lenmar, and they were very helpful: a replacement charger is now on its way.
The biggest disappointment is that the quoted fast charging times (and battery-charged indicators) only apply to an 80% charge. According to the instruction manual, if you want the batteries charged to 100%, you must leave them in the charger for an additional 2 HOURS after the charging lights go off - even the 8-minute batteries! And yet these same instructions warn that leaving the batteries (any batteries) in the charger for too long can damage them - so one has to personally keep track of how long the batteries have been in the charger after the charging lights go out - they only indicate the 80% charge - there is no indication of any kind after that. I consider that a real pain-in-the-neck, and a serious drawback.
So the manufacturer is selling this under slightly false pretenses - it is really a 2-hour battery charger with an 8-minute quick-charge mode. Had I known, I probably wouldn't have purchased it.
