Excellent marine case

By icediver from Wilmington, NC on 05/29/2013

Pros:

Easy To Use, Inexpensive, Exceeded Expectations

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I use this for the DMC-ZS8. I have taken down to 110 feet with no issues. All functions accessible with the housing. I use both weights for slight negative buoyancy. I have taken pictures and movies and they have turned out fine. No issues with zoom lens hitting housing as mentioned in previous reviews but I use a different camera than that reviewer. This housing is specified for the DMC-ZS8 among other cameras. Flash diffuser works well and is removable. Clear instructions and comes with spare o-ring and silicone lube. About $200.00 cheaper than the Ikelite housing for the same camera. Ikelites are excellent but for the price this is a fantastic housing. Jonathan Wilmington, NC (Graveyard of the Atlantic)

By md from Zurich on 08/14/2012

Cons:

Difficult To Use, Poor Quality, Expensive, Did Not Meet Expectations

Issue with the zoom ends up in several systems errors. Zoom touch the case. Simply worse.

fully featured, but a bit pricey

Snorkeling, Lake, Diving

Bottom Line:

The Panasonic DMWMCTZ3 Marine Case is one of a class of midrange underwater camera enclosures suitable for underwater photography to a depth of approximately 130 feet, commonly regarded as the recreational diving limit. Image quality is vastly superior to disposable underwater cameras, and its retail price puts it within reach of most photography enthusiasts. This housing is specifically designed for the Lumix TZ2 and TZ3 cameras. All the features of that camera are accessible when inside the housing. Control layout and size are large enough to allow operation using diving gloves (in cold water diving). The mode selection knob operates in the reverse direction from normal when inside the case, which is only a minor annoyance, but could have been prevented with a design found in other cases. However, only one replaceable seal is used instead of two, which means fewer seals to service (or fail). There is a removable strobe flash diffuser which reduces shadows and harsh lighting in closeups (macro). The instruction manual is excellent, covering everything one should know to use and care for the case. Ballast weights for excellant bouyancy adjustment are included, as are extra gaskets, silicone gasket lube, and silica moisture absorbant. Price is about 25% more than competing housings for Sony, Canon and Olympia cameras, but much less than the housings designed for greater depth and professional use made by Ikelite, Sea & Sea, and others. I leave for Fiji tomorrow for my first use of this housing, and will provide updates on my return if any are indicated. However, I do not expect any surprizes.
