Very good digitally amplified receiver

By Ben Verified Purchaser from Seattle, WA on 03/15/2008

Describe Yourself:

Musically Inclined, Tech Savvy, Audiophile

Pros:

Good Power, Accurate Controls, Clean Sound, Easy To Set Up

Best Uses:

Larger Rooms, Home Theater, Basic Systems, Audiophiles

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My main reason for buying the unit was it's digital (PWM) amplification. There are very few other options out there that work well and are affordable. After owning a top of the line Receiver for 3x the cost of this one that weighed 50lbs, this one was quite a relief in the weight department. It weighs barely more than a dvd player. The HDMI input and output work great with all my equipment. No slow switching of input resolutions watching HD (switching from 1080i programs to 480p TIVO menus was 5 seconds long on my last receiver). The unit runs very cool to the touch, also unlike my last receiver. I have very few complaints so far. Pros: Reasonably priced digital amplification (vs $7K pioneer, I'll take this one). Light weight. Runs very cool. HDMI functions flawlessly so far. Cons: Missing the latest and greatest audio decoders. Not what you'd call high-end construction but built well enough. Menu is fairly basic compared with newer products which have actual graphical user interfaces. No ethernet input.

This AV Receiver is labeled as a "Blu-Ray" but it has nothing to do w/Blu-Ray...Just happens to be from the same product line as Panasonic's latest Blu-Ray offering.
