Sleek Styling Offset by Black Utility Cord

By Arkadhia from Sunnyvale, CA, USA on 05/29/2015

Pros:

Mechanical Action Of Lid

Cons:

Confusing Cooking Instructions, White Body Black Cord, Pan Makings Hard To Read

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Sleek gloss white shell is uglyified by a very utilitarian black electrical cord. Hinged lid opens and closes nicely. Water level graduations on the non-stick pan are difficult to read in all but the most direct light. For me the thing takes up more counter space than desirable at 14" deep x 9-1/2" wide x 7-3/4". The size is reasonable though if one needs to make 5 cups of rice day in and day out. My rice making needs are more modest than that and probably will not use the steamer function. For my daily use I really have capacity overkill. One more observation on the unit's construction concerns the flexible membrane function buttons. I have to wonder how ware resistant over time and use they will be. Likely not an issue with my expected usage of once or twice a week though. Have yet to reconcile the conflicting proportions (rice to water) recommend in the instruction booklet with those on the unit itself. Trial & error and guesstimating, using one of the instructions as a departure point, will eventually get you some rice that is not too hard or soggy. Be patient with your experimentation because long grain white rice takes 38 minutes to cook. Once cooking is complete the machine shifts to warming mode. Too long on warm mode however, rice will brown at the pan's bottom.

Love this Rice Cooker

By momof2 from New York, NY on 09/23/2014

Pros:

Compact, Exceeded Expectations, Easy To Use, Durable, Convenient

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

It cooks rice perfectly. My daughter is obssessed with the rice and it is easy enough that she can operate it, which she loves. It also is attractive; not like the one my mom had back in the day. Next task: Watching tutorials on how to make pancakes in a rice cooker!

Sub-par performance on Keep Warm

By TC from Indianapolis, IN on 08/03/2014

Pros:

Easy To Use, Inexpensive

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This rice cooker adequately cooks rice and, if consumed within a short period of time, the quality if good; however, the KEEP WARM feature quickly causes the rice quality to deteriorate, some grains becoming hard and crispy while other grains become soggy (I suspect uneven heat or temperature in the chamber too high). Excessive amounts of water pools at the back of the unit, much more that any rice cooker I've used in the past. I would recommend considering another rice cooker if want to cook and keep rice beyond a couple hours.
