Excellent video quality -- I was really impressed with the video once I saw it on TV -- looked like documentary-film quality. But actually getting it onto a DVD to play on my TV was the tricky part -- a lot of it had to do with my lack of expertise regarding all the different file formats and standards related to video and audio. I'm very tech-savvy, but I was surprised by how complex it was. I had issues with sound disappearing or not syncing with the video. Once I figured out what to do, everything worked fine, but it would have been helpful if the software were a little more user-friendly, more like Nero -- I can't imagine what someone without computer expertise would go through trying to create a DVD. But I suppose that's what you get with default manufacturer software (especially software lacking perfect translation into English), and I've had similar experiences with other products. To be fair, it might have also been an issue with my third-party video editing software -- EditStudio. (By the way, I ended up having to export my video as 704x480 with MPEG sound in order to get it working properly in my video-editing software.) Software learning curve aside, the camera itself is a fantastic value for someone who doesn't need HD. Great sound and video quality. Battery life is decent, but bring the charger with you if you plan to film for more than 2 hours. Also, be sure to buy the right discs -- there is a difference between DVD+R and DVD-R. When you format the disc, select "VR" if you plan to do editing in your computer. All in all, I would wholeheartedly recommend this camera for a casual user.

The one negative is that you can't use the flash memory to record videos. This feature will only allow you to take photos. I wish this would have been more noticeable before purchasing the camera.

I'm an ex-pro with movies, used to work on commercials but its been 15 years since I touched a camera. I needed one for some events so that being said I looked at this based on other online ratings and its is exactly what I expected. I got it mostly because it was one of the few 3CCD recorders with a microphone-in jack. That being said, the stock microphone is great! I recorded at a night club with ridiculously loud rock music and it came out really well. The low-light mode is a bit grainy and has a low frame rate, but I was told to expect that. It actually looked really cool. I've done only limited daylight shooting, but the picture quality is great. The software converting the files to workable MPEG files is easy to use.I think this is Great Value!

A very nice camcorder. I find it a little difficult to operate the controls one-handed, it may be just me, but need to use two hands for sure.
