So far the recorder does everything I want it to. You can record to DVD+RW then go back and add chapters (Great for home movies and football games, I make each possession a chapter). Even with the disc not closed I can copy the files to my computer then easily make DVD-R copies that play on most DVD players. When recording you can pause just like a VCR. It plays back my AVI files with no problem, the timer allows recoding while I'm away and it is very easy to use. It has an optical audio output so DTS sounds great on my surround sound system. I had never heard of the Protron Brand before I just hope it will hold up for at least a couple of years, that I cannot comment on at this point.
