Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have used two of the TERK HDTVa (amplified version) in a city enviornment with broadcasters coming from 3 directions on two different HDTVs. I get very good HDTV and SD reception, both VHF and UHF, but I am no more than 6 miles from any transmitter. I recommend for short distances, directional antenna needs; I also reccomend the amplified version over the non amplified HDTVi version.

"antennas are pretty ...

By James C Verified Reviewer from Undisclosed on 08/07/2006

antennas are pretty finicky. This one didn't work as well as the terk tv3. This model is very directional. Also, due to the inherent design of this model, the VHF ant could not be moved to the desired location without moving the entire thing, which then detuned the VHF ant. So, when changing channels between vhf and uhf, you have to physically move the antenna each time. A real pain. Another thing, for this model to work, you have to have power applied to it at all times.

"This antenna worked ...

By William C Verified Reviewer from Undisclosed on 08/03/2006

This antenna worked great when I lived in the city, less than 10 miles from the transmision towers, but when I moved out 25 miles of the city to the suburbs it no longer picked up all of the digital hd channels. I was told that I need a much larger antenna for this task.

"I knew when I purchased ...

By Michael W Verified Reviewer from Undisclosed on 01/18/2006

I knew when I purchased the unit it was going to be "iffy" as there is only 1 HD station within 60 miles. I works fine on that station but does not pick up the 3 that are 60 miles out.
