Just konked out

By Buying another fan guy from Fort Worth TX on 06/05/2011

Pros:

Stable Base, Powerful

Cons:

Died After 2 Years

Describe Yourself:

Value Oriented

Primary use:

Personal

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Initial setup was easy and the fan was relatively powerful. Remote worked great and was a major consideration for purchase. Unfortunately it just died just shy of 2 years after purchase. Not sure how long one should expect a fan to last in Texas heat but I have a Honeywell pedestal that is much older that is still going strong.

Great Airflow...will it last?

By LANMan Verified Purchaser from Dallas, TX on 07/02/2009

Pros:

Powerful, Adjustable

Cons:

Loud, Plastic Base

Describe Yourself:

Value Oriented

Best Uses:

Large Rooms

Primary use:

Personal

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I wanted an inexpensive large fan and this one fit the bill. I was replacing a pedestal fan that recently quit working, and I have yet another pedestal in another room, so I am kind of familiar with these fans in general. With that in mind I will say that I was surprised that the pedestal base of this fan was injection molded plastic, and very light. Because of this the fan (when on carpet)actually sways backward a little bit when switching it on or changing speeds. Also most of the other pieces are plastic...fan blades, the "cage" (not sure what to call the part that covers the blades), everything. I do have a concern about the longevity of the product because of the extremely lightweight construction, but it does have good airflow. Other comments are it is a little loud, but no more so than the fan it replaced...and the remote control is very spartan. Only 3 buttons and you cannot control the oscillation from the remote.
