This product is grand

By Thew from Undisclosed on 10/11/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Bright Display

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

It's small and comfortable to wear, though a bit feature lacking in my opinion, even if it is primarily meant for fitness. (Which it does a pretty great job of monitoring by the way.) Overall I like it and would recommend it.

Good at first, now dies in a day.

By ad1313 from PA on 10/09/2015

Pros:

Realistic Color

Cons:

Poor Battery Life

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had many other fitness trackers (Nike, Jawbone, fit bit) this was by far my favorite until recently. I was getting 3 days out of a charge, now I am barely able to get a full 24 hours before I get a critical low battery alert. I love the screen and notifications alerts. I am also having issues with the band coming open more frequently than when I first bought it. I wish the battery issue could be resolved. I have only had the watch for about 3 months.

A good almost great fitness watch

By Oldfishingguy from Gunnison, CO on 10/07/2015

Pros:

Love The Apps, Lightweight, Bright Display

Cons:

Not Very Robust, Small Band

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I really enjoy my Gear Fit and how well it interfaces with the S Health app. As I recover from a knee replacement it has been very good to monitor the amount of exercise and heart rate with it. I particularly like be able to check messages and phone calls in meeting with out having to pull out my my S6. Less intrusive to others. I am not happy with how small the band is. Big guys will find it tight. Also the Gear fit is not very robust - if you are really active, it will show the wear.

Samsung Gear Fit - Issues

By BBCHATTER from NH on 10/05/2015

Pros:

Useful Features, Bright Display

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations, Has A Software Issue

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I used this watch for a few months and then it had an issue that others have also experienced with the watch being stuck in a rebooting loop. It took a month to get the serial number authorized. And a few weeks to get the actual RMA for the service. Once sent in for repair and it came back quickly. Fixed! Two months later the same issue occurred. I will attempt another repair and that's it. When the watch worked, it was awesome! Having the watch able to control the media play on my phone and have it tell me who's calling, show me text messages, track my exercise and steps. Super! Since it's stuck in the rebooting loop there appears to be no real solution for the end user (I have tried the suggestions - it worked once and then a day later it was back) to resolve the rebooting issue on their own. Sending it back every few months is not acceptable. This should not happen. I cannot recommend this watch to others. I may go back to a FitBit.

Excellent, EXCEPT

By KeepingFit4us from Los Angeles, CA, USA on 10/02/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations, Poor Quality, Chrome Around Face Scratches /wears Too Easily .

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had my Samsung Gear Fit almost a month. I am pleased with its performance overall. What I am totally unhappy about is how easy it gets scratched/scuffed. The chrome surrounding the "display face" has worn off and has scratches from just normal use, it now looks tatty and inferior. I believe for the price paid, it should be more resistant to scratches/scuffs taking into account it is worn like a normal watch.

Samsung Gear Fit

Pros:

Durable, Realistic Color, Lightweight, Built-in Speakers, Bright Display

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Most of my family and friends has a fit-bit to track their activities. I decided to get a Samsung Gear Fit to go alone with my Samsung Phone. And I love it.... it has more than enough features for my use. I've used them all and would recommend the Gear Fir to anyone. Very comfortable to wear, be careful, you can knock it off your wrist. Also I enjoy some of Samsung App that works great as well.

A good fitness watch for the minimalist

By TestUser12345 from Undisclosed on 09/30/2015

Pros:

Good Battery Life, Lightweight, Bright Display, Durable

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The gear fit is a good tool for the minimalist. It doesn't have all the features that you may want in fitness watch, but it has all the basic functionality that you need. The gear fit adds a nice touch of simplicity to my workouts, allowing me to keep track of my lap times, heart rate, and makes it easier for me to take consistent breaks between sets with the timer function. One of the main features that I use is the media controller because not only does it make it easier to control my music while I workout, it also makes controlling my music in the car much easier and safer as I no longer have to look down at my phone to switch songs, instead I can keep my eyes on the road. The gear fits functionality combined with the data stored in the gear fit manager app make it just as useful as any other fitness watch I have owned. It also has a "find my device" function which calls your phone if you ever misplace it, which definitely comes in handy. All that plus a substantial battery life and reasonable price make for an all-in-all good investment

Very Disappointed

By Boots789 from Norwalk, CT, USA on 09/30/2015

Pros:

Inexpensive, Bright Display, Realistic Color, Lightweight

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Expected much better performance based on experience with other Samsung Products over many years. Negatives: when swipe from display to another display and try to choose new option it reverts back to previous display - must repeat action several times before desired option displays. Power runs out quickly without adequate warning to recharge and how do you recharge in the middle of a busy day/calendar when you started the day at 100% and don't have a lengthy break-. Date and time do not always display accurately when display. Pedometer is very inaccurate - seriously under tracking actual steps and mileage.Band is difficult to secure to arm. positives: attractive design; timer and stopwatch features are handy.

Things it does, it does well

By blrg891 from MA on 09/28/2015

Pros:

Sleep Activity Tracking, Inexpensive, Durable, Lightweight

Cons:

Limited Exercise Tracking, Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought 2 of these, one for myself and one for my girlfriend. After a couple months we have a good handle on them and what they can do. For me, I bought them to track our sleep. I also liked that they tracked fitness and worked will with our Samsung Galaxy S6's. Unfortunately, the exercise options they can track are severely limited to Walking, Running, Hiking, and Cycling. With Cycling your phone has to be paired and nearby to track with the GPS. I wish that the Gear Fit could track every activity you can track with the Samsung S Fitness app. Specifically, I play both basketball and hockey and it can basically only track the steps for the pedometer and the heart rate. I wish that Samsung had continued system development for these devices. Unfortunately the Samsung Gear Fit doesn't run Tizen like most of the rest of Samsung Wearables. This makes it a hard platform to write independent applications for since the platform is not open. You can write companion apps to run alongside the phone, but no native apps. I would have also liked an inactivity reminder function on the Gear Fit.

Works great!

By TeamW from SSMD on 09/28/2015

Pros:

Striking Design Appearance, Durable Display; Not A Scratch On The Screen, Generally Accurate Heart Rate, Functional, Responsive, Generally Accurate Pedometer, Bright Display, Lightweight, Sharp Display, Personalization Options

Cons:

Charging Cradle No Longer Clips To Watch, Significant Silver Accent Paint Chipping

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I primarily use my Gear Fit to track my heart rate while running. However, I wear it throughout the day and get lots of inquiries. I'm surprised by how few people have heard of it. I've compared it to my chest strap, and the two devices are only a few BPMs apart. My Gear Fit has been very reliable and the features are exactly what I was looking for in a smartwatch. Would love more detailed heart rate info (charts/graphs) so I get a better sense of the range/peaks during workouts, or if Samsung would open up heart rate info to other fitness apps like Endomondo or Strava.

Excellent, As Expected

By Sichuan from Canton, OH on 09/27/2015

Pros:

Longevity, Inexpensive, Realistic Color, Quality, Bright Display, Lightweight, Durable

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought this for my wife. I initially bought her the Samsung Gear 2 Neo but she didn't like the large size. The Samsung Gear Fit does everything it's advertised to do and I have had no problems with it. She really likes it. All my electronic devices are Samsung, which includes TVs, DVD players, computer monitors, Blu-ray players, cell phones and Surround Sound. I wouldn't think of buying any other brand.

Pros:

Inexpensive, Bright Display, Lightweight, Durable

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I was not looking for a full function smart watch and I am glad I got this one. This does everything that I was wanting. Having to just look at the watch to see who is calling is nice when I am working. It's easier to look at my wrist than to stop working and grab the phone. I love how it syncs with the S health app on the phone. So if you are looking for something to assist your phone then this is it.

Bottom Line:

Bottom Line:

I love it, it has worked great for me. Only things I would suggest is more options for the clock, both vertical and horizontal. Would like to be able to customize the clock ie. The font color or moving it higher or lower. Also if you download a clock from the play store I would like to be able to change the background pic but keep the clock.

Love my Gear Fit!

By RunnerGal from Pine City, NY on 09/19/2015

Pros:

Inexpensive, Bright Display, Lightweight, Realistic Color

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is the second one I have purchased. I was disappointed when the first one I bought died after a few short months. I had purchased it refurbished, which I will not do again. The only thing two things I struggle with are that the heart rate monitor doesn't always work, particularly when I sweat (which is one of the reasons I bought it to begin with...to track my target heart rate) and the mileage is not always accurate (I have measured my running routes with both MapMyRun and my car).

Pros:

Inexpensive, Battery Built To Last, Realistic Color, Durable, Bright Display, Lightweight

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I received countless compliments daily on the look of my watch. It is the perfect size, shape, and contour to any wrist. It is also extremely durable, it has taken many drops and hits without showing signs of wear. The battery life is phenomenal, it typical last me 3 to 4 days before it requires a charge and I use it constantly. It is quick and easy to access information instead of always looking at my phone, so I can pay attention to what is going on around me and enjoy life.

Disappointing Performance but the Time is Accurate

By RedsFan61 from North Carolina, USA on 09/15/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Realistic Color

Cons:

Poor Accuracy, Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I've had this watch now for 9 months and put it through a lot of paces. Hard core fitness folks will be disappointed in the reliability of the fitness performance of this device. Tied to my Samsung phone, the path mapping is inconsistent. The calorie calculation is poor. The steps are probably somewhat accurate and gives a decent reference to mileage. Still don't know how the sleep measurement correlates to whether you slept well. It's based upon movement while you sleep. I can be wide awake, not moving and it shows 100% rest. The "wake" function of lifting the arm works sometimes and doesn't work sometimes. There are a lot of functions, but the hiking and cycling only works if you have your phone and you have some level of service. I do like the connection to the phone where I can quickly see who is calling/texting me without pulling out my phone. Really not sure it is worth the money.

Works Well, Doesn't Age Well

By VIvaVickii from Hackensack, NJ, USA on 09/14/2015

Pros:

Discreet Alerts, Watch-like, Bright Display, Lightweight

Cons:

Silver Trim Deteriorates < 10 Months

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The GearFit is definitely an upgrade from my FitBit Flex since I have alarms, text message, call notices, along with workout tracking. I got mine in November 2014 and have worn it daily for the last 10 months. It's great for step & workout tracking (walking, skating, weight training) and it doesn't look out of place with my corporate suits and dresses. Unfortunately, the silver detail around the screen has started to flake off in spots (have less than 50% left). Please make sure the next version is a bit more robust. The main reason I got the GearFit is that it's at a great price point and doesn't look oddly oversized for my wrist. Thanks Samsung for designing a slim streamlined smartwatch.

Gear Fit

By Dorrell from Davenport, IA on 09/14/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Bright Display, Durable, Inexpensive, Realistic Color

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

In an environment where fitness is becoming a priority, this device is working out great for me. I am a beginner when it comes to working out. This device is easy to use and shows me everything that I want to see without picking up my phone. If I want to see more, I can send the message to my phone with the touch of a button. I am a fan of checking my messages and phone calls from my watch. There are a few apps that work well with an overall easy to use interface. Within the first week I had a perfect understanding of how to use this device and everything that I could do with it. Many of my friends use the Fitbit trackers and this one does everything that the Fitbit does and way more all for a similar cost. ! This is a good intermediate between a Fitness tracker and smart watch. I love mine!

Can't disabel auto unlock on phone

By YYCTimmy from Undisclosed on 09/10/2015

Cons:

Disabels Phones Security.

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Some update happened and now as long as I am close to my watch whomever picks up my phone does not need to enter my lock code to use my phone. So if I am sleeping next to it, my room mates, friends, or people who I don't know why they are staying at my place can pick up my phone and do what ever they want. There is no spot in settings to turn this off, in the app, in the watch, or on the phone.

Cons:

This device was easy to setup and connects easily to my galaxy 5. I love the ability to set a background, and though I am still learning many of the festures, I love the sleep monitor, pedometer and many other options. All in all this was a great purchase and I would recommend it to anyone looking towards it. Battery seems short lived, but same holds true for the galaxy 5 so I adjust to it I am very pleased with this device.

Great product could be better.

By Rick224 from Beaverton, OR, USA on 09/07/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Inexpensive, Attention Grabbing, Bright Display, Realistic Color, Great Looking

Cons:

Needs A Better Clasp., Needs More Default Apps, Needs To Be Fully Integrated With S-health

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Huge fan of Samsung products, this one is no different. I do however hope there is a software update soon. There needs to be some tweeks on this to make it a major contender/necessity on everyones wrist. First there are only a few apps to download and us on the watch that most people will use. These apps are accessable through app connect, but should be able to be put on the main scroll through screen or swapped out with other built in apps i dont use. Second some of the add on apps to download should be done by samsung and included like phone dialer, calendar, and calculator. Also for some reason some features from s-health are not acessable from the fit. I cannot track my weight from the watch. You can adjust it on the fit profile, but does not track it on s-health. It should also have quick inputs for food/calorie intakes to track on your s-health app as well. I mean this is common sense it is to be used in conjunction with s-health so it should do all the features of s-health. Also needs an automatic sleep tracker. Sometimes I forget to turn it on or off. Lastly the band comes detached often because it does not clip in. I know there are little rubber add ons to buy for it, but how about make a full band replacement for people who want an actual clasp. Other than those minor complaints this product is great. I get alerts from apps I choose on it. Can read my texts and respond easily when my hands are full. (Dont use email they are way too long compared with txts) Great feature is the triple tap for emergency help. I know of times when this would have been useful for people, like my sister when she was at a bank when it was robbed. She could have alerted someone with out being obvious grabbing a phone. If Samsung fixes those things this would be a nearly perfect watch. It is great looking, inexpensive and highly useful. I get comments all the time asking what it is and most people think it cost a ton of money, but are shocked at the low price.

Bottom Line:

I've had my gear fit for a few months now and I love it.... the heart rate is sometimes off but it's still I really good product. The one thing I would love for this to have is to add dance to the exercise. I do zumba about 3 days a week and it would be nice to see exactly my calories. Since it only show my step calories and not the dancing steps... I'd it's anyway you guys and update the gear with that it would be great!!!!

Ok for a starter fitness tracker

By Tsansmerci from Houston, TX, USA on 09/01/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Durable, Inexpensive, Bright Display

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I think this is a good inexpensive fitness tracker with lots of good features to figure out if you really want to use or need a tracker. I like that there is an interactive app that works with the gear fit to track the results. A computer version would be nice to view the results in a larger format. As a pedometer I think it is excellent. I like that I can set a goal and I want to walk more during the day to reach the goal. I like that there are exercise settings that goals can be set for those as well. My problem with the gear fit for me is that I initially got it to track my workout. which is cardio kickboxing. There isn't a setting that can track this activity accurately and even with an app that supposedly works with the gear fit it is highly inaccurate ( and needs a separate heart monitor device and seems unable to share any information with the S Health app). I like the interactions with the phone, notifications for messages, calls and emails are nice & convenient. I can do a quick standard reply from the gear fit without using my phone or monitor for important messages/calls while working out. I've used the timer function several times. It's handy to have it on your arm. I also like that the alarms set on my phone will vibrate the gear bit when they go off to wake me. It is very durable I've worn it all day at work, out running errands, during kickboxing and self defense classes. So far I've only managed a small scratch on the screen. I thought it was going to be hard to keep it scratch free but it holds up nicely. I think this was a good start for me to try out a highly functional tracker to figure out what kinds of features I want and need out of a fitness tracking device.

Love it

By aliejays from Undisclosed on 08/18/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Inexpensive, Lightweight, Durable

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I never write reviews but I was very skeptic about this after reading the reviews especially compatibility with newer phones and battery life so I thought I would share. I have the Note 4 and it is compatible and works perfect. The battery lasts about 5 days without being charged and i have had no problem plugging the charging clip in. I never wore a watch i only bought it for the text message and calling feature. But I find myself using the health portion of it and trying to reach the step goals and the sleep function. Overall this is great and great price.

Issue right out of the box

By Droidguy2015 from MD on 08/15/2015

Pros:

Bright Display

Cons:

Burned Out Corner On Display

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The product seems to function as it should except the screen is burned out in one corner right out of the box. The strap also may be an issue as you wear it and wear out the holes since there is no clasp or buckle type strap as you would traditionally see on a watch band. Last, I am not quite sure how accurate the heart rate and ped may actually be.

Wonderful product. I got this because I have a heart condition, & this lets me monitor my heart. I have had other monitors/watches before , but they were bulky & not very stylish. This is stylish, especially with the interchangeable bands. I have really enjoyed it. The only time I take it off is to charge it. I have recommended it to others.

Off the Charts!

By MikeV11 from Duluth, GA, USA on 08/08/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Sleek Design, Inexpensive, Durable, Bright Display

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I was really looking forward to ordering and receiving my Gear fit because I own the Galaxy S5 phone and knew that they could sync up with one another. I have owned the unit for the past couple of weeks and am really pleased with my purchase. I love many of the features the product comes with. My favorite is the alert feature that enables me to see my calls, texts and emails as they arrive on my phone. I have the option of declining the call and sending a message or rejecting the call from my Gear fit. This is especially useful when I am working out, in a meeting or on a conference call. There are more features than I can recall. Like I can see what the temperature is outside, check my heart rate at any time, set a timer, a stop watch, change the color of the face, track my steps using the pedometer, clock the number of hours that I sleep motionlessly. I love the sleek design, the almost secret agent black face that can be set to automatically display by the movement of my arm. This product is off the charts with features and functionality. I love my Gear fit and recommended it anyone, especially those who own a Galaxy product.

Love the extras

By Techrox from Cadiz, KY 42211, USA on 08/07/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Inexpensive, Durable, Simple To Use, Lightweight, Many Features

Cons:

Band Needs Improvement

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I mainly got the Gear Fit to keep track of my steps per day (cyber Monday deal through the Army Exchange, cheaper than fit bit!) I tried a fit bit (ugh) & returned after 1 1/2 charges. Have the S Health feature on my Galaxy S5 but live in cell phone dead zone so don't always carry it around at home. The Gear Fit does so much more than steps, aside from being a watch, I can use it as a stopwatch, timer, heart rate monitor, sleep monitor, and can get message notifications. Love the "find my device" feature too, being in a dead zone I can't call my phone to find it so this feature is great when I misplace my phone. Battery life is much longer than I expected too, don't have to charge it very often. Everything syncs easy with my phone. Have had to reboot it a couple of times by holding the power button, but usually its after my phone had an update. Only thing that really needs improvement is the clasp on the band, almost lost it at a donation drop box when the clip popped loose. Slight panic attack! Now use braided elastic craft string to make a tab to keep band from coming off if it gets caught on something, cheap fix.

Cons:

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I really liked it at first! but then the Pedometer kept pausing my steps, it wont take my heart rate, it keeps disconnecting from my Samsung galaxy 6 phone even when my phone is in my hand, doesnt sync with S Health. the only thing I like it is that it is lightweight and waterproof.

Good features for the price, nicely interface with my S5

By ElRme from CA on 08/05/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Inexpensive

Cons:

No Wireless Charging Support, No Built-in Speaker And Mic, S/w F/w Can Be Better And More Robust, No Real Time Continue Heart Rate Monitor

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Get it on sale, it was quite good in general. Got all the features I needs including tracking step, sleep and heart rates. Like the notification features, displace is nice but may be hard to read in bright light or at some angle. S/W has room for improvement, had problem sync'ing data with my S5 and need reset. Would like to see real time continue heart rate monitor (instead of just on demand). Wireless charging will be Very nice. The rubber band could be more comfortable.

Bottom Line:

Great middle-of-the-road smart watch

By Moosch from Indianapolis, IN, USA on 07/31/2015

Pros:

Inexpensive, Lightweight, Bright Display

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had the Gear Fit for about a month now and love it. I wanted a fitness band that actual showed the time and this was it. Paired easily with my S4 and setup was pretty simple. Notifications are great and the bluetooth covers a good distance (still connected with my phone a level below me) I have to put a lot of space and walls between me and the phone to lose it. Pedometer and heart rate seem accurate, although the heart rate makes you stop what you are doing in order to register. Sleep monitor seems about right, I can tell the nights I am restless and the watch tells me I was motionless for 66-70% of my sleep time. Battery lasts about 3 days, as advertised. All in all a great value-feature fitness/smart watch.

Bad Design

By azjeri from Arizona on 07/19/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Realistic Color

Cons:

Not Waterproof, Did Not Meet Expectations, Power Drains, Poor Quality

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I purchased this and thought it was a good product until 6 months after owning it. I wore the watch daily and it picked up normal wear from oils from my skin. This caused the on/off button to get stuck in the "pushed in" position. This drains the power almost immediately and causes the watch to send out an emergency alert to your preprogramed list of emergency contacts. If the battery power is to low it also does the same thing. This happened on two different watches. There are some good features otherwise but this is a problem that makes the watch very difficult to use, Also it is supposed to be waterproof but if you sweat while exercising it tends to cause problems too.

I've had this gear fit for 3 months. It has automatically reset on its own 4 times and today, it turned off on me and would not turn back on. The battery was fully charged overnight. My husband also has a gear fit and his has auto reset 3 times and yesterday it "drained of battery" though it was also fully charged. We have both had this device for 3 months.

Pros:

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had my watch for about a month. I love it. It has so many features. I wasn't used to wearing a watch and I have come to rely on it. It makes so convenient. You can look at your watch to view messages instead of looking at your phone all the time. You can dismiss calls with preset texts. You can respond to texts with preset texts. It makes it easy when you are in front of customers or your phone is buried in your purse.

Smart watch, stupid strap

By lostwatch from San Francisco, CA, USA on 07/07/2015

Pros:

Gives Me An Excuse To Be Late (no Watch!)

Cons:

Bad Strap, Poor Quality

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The Samsung Gear Fit watch worked great for me for about four months. The strap, however, is horrible. It constantly came detached from my wrist with the most minor activities. Most recently, the watch came off when I was on a boat and fell into the water and is now lost forever. Try this one on before buying, you might want to go with something that will stay on your wrist.

Pros:

Accurate, Lightweight, Inexpensive, Realistic Color, Bright Display

Cons:

Manually Set Sleep

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've tried many other fitness bands and none have been as appealing as this one. It is accurate, customizable and absolutely beautiful! I love the gear fit and will not be taking it off any time soon! (except showers and swimming) I'm a long time user of samsung products and that will not be changing. The only thing I would like to be added is automatic sleep tracking, after a long day I forget to set it to sleep mode. Hopefully a software update will fix that! I would definitely recommend it to friend .

Pros:

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations, Does Not Last, Poor Quality

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I got the Gear Fit for my birthday in February and it worked great until the end of March. Then it went into a permanent boot mode. You can't shut it off or turn it on, it just continuously reboots. I enjoyed it while it worked, using the pedometer and the heart monitor. I also liked that I could get and send messages and screen calls. The kids I worked with thought it was cool. However, for the price, a month and a half of operation is not long enough. It is not worth the money.

Love the design but not totally happy with the function

By LeannaCrain from Cincinnati, OH, USA on 06/18/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Durable

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had my Gear Fit for over a week. I like it's looks. It fits on my wrist comfortably and it functions mostly well but I have several disappointments from what I expected. 1. I use my Gear Fit with the S Health app. The Gear Fit will track heart rate and distance traveled only for four categories of exercise, running, walking, hiking, and cycling. The S Health app has many more sports that is capable of tracking. I do not understand why the Gear Fit will only track those activities where you are traveling distances. Many workouts don't travel. Why can't I track my heart rate for these? 2. This best syncing interval is only three hours. Why can't I constantly sync? 3. When I try to do the transfer now sync, the app tells me I have to set up a profile, which I did a week ago. 4. The Gear Fit also does not measure stress level like I can using the S Health app. 5. I tried adding my own photo to the wallpaper list. I thought that was a cool feature until I realized you cannot change the color of the font for the clock and other info that overlays on the wallpaper. White is not a perfect color for everything. 6. I downloaded several apps, but have yet to figure out how to use them. And only two of them appear on the list in my Gear Fit. I hope Samsung will continue to work on this items functions and I look forward to investigating the next generation of Gear Fit. Waterproof would be nice to.

Pros:

Bottom Line:

I was skeptical about the trend of smart watches. But started a new fitness plan and was looking for something to track my heartrate. I'm a die hard Samsung fan/user, so I knew I'd only try a Samsung smart watch. The Samsung Gear Fit has been a great addition to my fitness plan! I love all the other features as well... notifications, call decline responses, sleep tracking... even the ability to change the face wallpaper to match my outfits! I get tons of questions about it. Many iPhone/fitbit users are jealous of the look, cost and features. ;)

Samsung Gear Fit/with my Samsung S4

By Mikeyp4916 from Maryland, USA on 06/09/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight, Quiet, Inexpensive

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

beside the benefits of keeping time and keeping track of my walking there was an additional feature that I hadn't thought of. where I work I have to be quiet and I can now receive calls without disturbing anyone else. My phone also vibrates but I don't usually notice it when I am busy. I always notice the one on my arm. I also use it to keep track of my sleep and heart rate. I checked it on my last visit to the Dr and the numbers match with what the Dr got. although my phone also comes with a pedometer I do a lot of walking when I have forgotten my phone. also I am surprised how many people notice it as well as complimenting me.

Cons:

No Integration With Non-samsung Products, Did Not Meet Expectations, Poor Developer Support, Poor Design Of Charger

I liked the Samsung Gear Fit initially. But after I realized there was no major developer support and Android apps won't run on it, I quickly became unhappy with my purchase. On top of that, this device only works with Samsung products and a clip that holds the charger in place broke. Not happy at all with this productproduct.

A great assistant to my managing my exercise program

By easyK from Oregon, USA on 05/31/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight

Cons:

Screen Is Very Sensitive To Movement

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

It is a great device. It is a bit sensitive when trying to select a icon, it will often move to the next screen. I'm getting better at selecting what I want and not moving to the next screen. It is a great device since I work in a place where some of the facilities will not allow me to take a personal cell phone with me, so this keeps track of all of the walking I am doing inside the secure facility. The heart rate monitor is very quick and accurate. It looks like a nice watch but doesn't jump out at you, very subtle. I'd recommend it to a friend.

love the technology - hate the band, now it's gone forever . . .

By Anonymous from Saint Paul, MN, USA on 05/22/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Inexpensive, Bright Display

Cons:

Poor Band Design

Gear Fit is lightweight, easy to setup and use. Works fabulously with my Samsung smartphone & tablet! I've been using it several months and really like it for the fitness features and the Bluetooth technology to get certain updates where I didn't have to have my smartphone out. However, I no longer have my Gear Fit - the one draw back that I was concerned with came true this past Sunday (May 17, 2015) and that was with the band design. The way the band is designed, as I found out several times over the past months, that if it gets caught on something (like my shoulder bag or placing my hand in coat pocket) it will pop off. I've even woke up to find my Gear Fit missing from my wrist & on the floor. Would I purchase another Gear Fit? Would I recommend Gear Fit to a friend? YES, IF and only IF the band is redesigned where it will NOT come off until I remove it from my wrist. Now, I have to believe that I'm not the only one that this has happened to. I have made an attempt to contact Samsung regarding my experience but was on hold via chat for too long - I will try again later. I love my Samsung products, I have several and I hope they will seriously look at this band design & fix it.

Great while it lasted

By Shmaime from Buffalo, NY, USA on 05/13/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Bright Display

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations, Design Flaw

Initially I loved this watch and enjoyed every function it had to offer. I would challenge myself daily to beat my previous days steps, monitor my HR and occasionally my sleep. I loved that it would alert me to phone calls, as well as receive text messages. I received this as a mothers day gift in 2014 and wore it every single day until it broke in the beginning of April(2015). I was very disappointed when I realized it was no longer working. The button to initiate the display had broken, most likely due to the fact that I wore the watch on my L wrist placing the button at the bend between my wrist and hand. Because I could not find the receipt or the original box there is nothing I could do to get it replaced.

Nice looking watch and applications are great

By MsKhakiM from El Paso, TX on 05/10/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Durable, Lightweight

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Although I read some so so reviews on CNET, I still purchased it and to try out and I absolutely fell in love with it. I like that it syncs well with my Samsung Note 4 and since I've been using it it has actually motivated me to eat better and exercise (moderately) compared to no exercise and not eating well. The colors are brilliant and it just works fine for receiving texts and when I get a call it just vibrates which is all I really need. Depending on future watch styles, I may upgrade in near future only because I loved this style and cannot wait to see future style and applications.

Close to what I was hoping for

By 2Busy2Stop from Washington State on 05/08/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight, Realistic Color, Inexpensive

Cons:

Pedometer Could Be More Accurate

I have only owned my Samsung Gearfit for a week however in that time I've used it continuously, trying the various features of it. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with it. I started out looking for a fitness band. In searching for the various features, I began to look more at the smartwatches which feature the same things as most fitness bands but offer a few additional features that I thought might be nice to have. I don't want to wear a phone on my wrist so I'm not looking for tons of features. That being said, I do like the ability to receive text messages and other message updates and quickly reply to them when I'm out enjoying my leisure time just in case one of my family members is trying to reach me. For me, the pros are: Fairly attractive design that works on a woman's wrist Offers fitness tracking features I was looking for Has optional applications that work with my Samsung S4 phone (the apps list seems to be growing, which is a good thing) Allows me to check text messages, email, pm's from social media as they come in Affordable price (it cost less than the fitness bands I was looking at) Cons: Pedometer seems to be inaccurate, over-calculating my steps (after all, fitness tracking was the main reason I was looking for a device such as this) Could be a little slimmer design for women Would rather see apps on a main screen vs buried in menu Overall I am enjoying my Gear Fit band and I like how it interacts easily with my phone. That being said, I'd like to see the fitness tracking become more accurate and I'd love to see the apps be more easily accessible. The make or break thing for me will be whether or not Samsung supports it with software updates over time as they roll out new products. If the band lasts a few years but they don't keep it updated, then I'll be looking at other brands in the future.

great watch

By potatoinyomusicbox from Minnesota on 05/04/2015

Pros:

Inexpensive, Ip67 Rating, Lightweight, Realistic Color, Durable

Cons:

Not High Def

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

the watch/ fit band looks really nice. The curved screen just kinda fits with it to. It looks like something from the future and has alot of features with it. Only problems are is that sometimes you need to press on an app more than once to open it and the heart rate sensor is not so good. The battery life is also pretty good. The brightness is good but it could be better. I would recommend this to anyone. It doesn't just have to apply to people with a fit lifestyle. Last thing, it's had an ip67 rating for dust and water resistance, but it's not shock proof witch for a fitness band, is kind of a let down.

By MariaRuns from MA on 05/03/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Inexpensive

Cons:

Poor Battery Life, Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

What I like. I'm a small woman, this watch fits me without looking awkward. I like the different bands. Dislikes. The battery life is poor. This is my second gear fit watch. Both have had poor battery life. I will keep the phone not synced, the light at its lowest setting most of the day, and I am not able to log 24hrs. The watch will turn to and if I'm moving and the watch rubs against me it will switch screens, stop the pedometer, put me on sleep mode. Very frustrated. Have it 6 mo., looking for a different watch!

Pros:

Lightweight, Bright Display

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had this product for approximately six months. It started off great! However, now, it dies without warning, reboots without warning, pauses my pedometer randomly, does not sync well with my phone (S6 edge), and stops tracking my sleep in the middle of the night. It is incredibly frustrating. If I wanted just a watch to tell time, I'd go to Fossil.

Pros:

Durable, Customizable Display, Stylish, Bright Display, Lightweight

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I received this watch for Christmas and started off using it just for the pedometer and watch function. But within a few weeks I was using it for the exercise function too. Love that you can decline calls from the watch and it is sleek and stylish enough for business wear. I get compliments on it everywhere I go. Between the watch and Weight Watchers I have lost 9 pounds in 4 weeks! I intend to keep changing my wallpaper to keep myself inspired and keep going! It worked well with my Samsung Galaxy SIII, but looking forward to even more options with my new S5.

One major flaw

By TKB526 from Undisclosed on 04/19/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Bright Display

Cons:

Syncing Options

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have only had my Gear Fit for about a day and I love it, but the one big flaw I have discovered is that it doesn't sync with MyFitnessPal. If it would have the ability to do this, I would be 100% satisfied. There's nothing better than being able to combine two great services to get an overall picture of your health. Samsung, if your listening....let Gear Fit sync with MyFitnessPal and/or MapMyFitness. I know you would have many happy customers.

Love this "smart" tracker

By HollyAnn122 from Indianapolis, IN, USA on 04/19/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Realistic Color

Cons:

Doesn't Seem To Have Accurate Calories Burned From, No Integration With My Fitness Pal

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I love the display on this device. Bright, colorful (if you want it) and a well made wristband. I checked it's heartrate monitor while working out and it was a decent amount off in the calories burned. I'm not sure what to do about that. The main reason I gave it 3 stars is because of the inability to link with my fitness pal. It has it's own food tracker, but no barcode scanner.

Meh...its okay

By anotherday from New York, NY, USA on 04/10/2015

Pros:

Lightweight

Cons:

No App To Manage Since The Update, Did Not Meet Expectations, No Centralized Location For Support/fixes, Not Enough Options For Fitness

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This product is basically a glorified pedometer. It would be nicer if you could track more exercises than running, walking or hiking. While the style is nice and the screen displays more than the other famous brand, it sometimes gets buggy and needs to be reset, which there are no instructions on THIS site to assist the user on how to do that, you have to scour the internet for a solution on your own. Most recently, there was an update to the Gear Fit Manager app for the phone to synch this device with, that caused the device to be unable to connect. When attempting to remove and reinstall the app...discovered it no longer exists for free. Now you have to PAY for it. Oh and there are no other apps that will provide the same functionality for this wonderful device. NICE! So now what do I have? A watch?

MORE THAN A WATCH

By Rugbymom from Wisconsin, USA on 03/29/2015

Pros:

Inexpensive, Bright Display, Intuitive, Comfortable To Wear

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I am close to retiring and for years a company would give a Gold Watch. Years of devotion to a company is barely recognized. But with this gift by my husband it feels good. I like the features, it is very intuitive; I already made a quick jpeg for new wallpaper. It is effortless and I like the email notifications a lot! I can choose to ignore them or react and it is in my control--makes the emails and calls less invasive AND you get both hands BACK no longer clutching a phone. I think they should incorporate these in a business setting.

By Robopath from Seabrook, TX, USA on 03/16/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Realistic Color, Lightweight, Inexpensive

Cons:

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Bought the Samsung Gear for my wife, she immediately made it part of her arm and began to worry when she didn't have it on. Amazing...my wife is a techno-phobe and this she loved. I bought it last June for her birthday and yesterday 3/15/2015 it died, we had a ceremony. It appears that the only button (mechanical) collapsed...as if the stainless steel dome below just gave up. Usually these domes are rated in the millions of button pushes. Not this one. I'm going to look around and see if there is a more robust unit on the market that will fill the void, the rating should be 5's across the board, but it just didn't last.

This product is great! It`s simple and has the features I need

By CostaDiego00 from Niteri - State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 03/16/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Durable, Bright Display, Inexpensive

Cons:

Need More Apps

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The first thing to notice about this product is the design. It is a good design, lightweight, good to read notifications (it`s my main use nowadays) and to navigate through the system. The biggest difference from this product to similar ones are the features, with Gear Fit you can read notifications, use S Health, customize the Clock to the Samsung ones and some downloaded, control a Windows PC - I`ve downloaded an app that does it on App Connect in Gear Fit Manager. It`s a good product overall to use with my smartphone.

Can only enter 4 exercises and not compatible with most popular fitness apps

By Devy1980 from Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA on 03/11/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Durable, Realistic Color

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

I thought that this would be cutting edge, but it is not. I cannot track any exercise if it's not walking, running, hiking or cycling. If this were at least compatible with apps that allow me to track other exercises, I would be happy, but its not. From what I read, it used to be a feature of S Health but was taken away. I'd really like to know what the logic behind that was.

Good but not usable with trackers.

By Anonymous from New Jersey on 03/02/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Durable

Cons:

Incompatable With Many Fitness Apps., Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I enjoy my Gear Fit, but now that I am trying to track my progress with a group I can't use the information from my Gear Fit in any trackers. It seems to only work with SHealth and a few SHealth friendly apps but nothing else. It seems that almost all the competitors are available to share their data except Samsung. This has made me consider Selling this and getting something from a competitor. It may have a nice screen and such but the fact that it is so locked down is discouraging. As of now the only data I can share is on my phone and nothing else, so my Running and Exercise never gets shared since the tracker has no access to that I guess. I am a big Samsung user and I chose the Gear Fit over others because it was Samsung, I am now regretting that loyalty.

Love some of the features but...

By HappyMomof2 from District Heights, MD 20747, USA on 03/01/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Find My Phone, Flashlight, Camera Launch, Lightweight

Cons:

The Pedometer Was Off, Heartrate Should Be Continuous, S Health For The Phone And Watch Need To Be As One, Did Not Meet Expectations, The Sleep Mode You Have To Turn It On And Off

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I really wanted to love this watch, it has so many features that I love for example Find my phone feature. But I bought it as a pedometer and I counted 20 steps before the watch started counting and with other pedometers I could run in place and the steps are counted but not with this one. And can someone from Samsung explain why I have to look at two different S health screens to get a total of my steps (I am using a Note Edge). This is the most ridiculous and easy to fix situation. Rather than toggling from the watch to the phone combine them. Example when I have to charge my watch I carry my phone and when I am at work I have my watch on combine those steps together. Checking my sleep is pretty accurate however, having to set it and turn it off is a pain. Especially when your trying to get the kids to bed and wake them up. One fix is to have it automatically detect lack of movement for some time and go into sleep mode or on the phone the person can set their bedtime and it goes into sleep mode that way. Features I loved Find my Phone ( I must have used it 3 times at home) Notifications on the phone Added apps like flashlight, calender, camera launch, Features I liked Pedometer (would love it they would work as one) Heart rate (would love it would be continuous) It's a beautiful, light weight smart watch that needs an upgrade. It has so many features but the ones that truly count need improvement. (Pedometer, Heart rate, Sleep mode)

Have had this less than a month and it got stuck in a rebooting "loop". Now it won't come back on. I am greatly disappointed as I really liked the product when it worked. I will gladly change the rating I gave if support comes thru on how to get it working again.

Working Great since S Health update!!!

By MzStackedUp from Denver CO on 02/13/2015

Pros:

Gives Instant Notifications, Controls Music, Durable, Inexpensive, Lightweight

Cons:

Detached Battery For Charging Can Be Easily Lost

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I purchased the gear fit 2 days ago and it was not syncing with my S Health. I realized the issue was with S Health, so I called Samsung and was on the phone for roughly 45 minutes with 3 different agents. I almost took the Gear Fit back to Best Buy until I saw that Samsung planned an update to S Health to fix the issue. I woke up this morning and was so excited that the update worked! I love the design of the watch. It's not boring like other fitness watches. I will continue to be a loyal Samsung customer!

Promising Device wasted by poor execution

By SanjeevTechDelhi from New Delhi, Delhi, India on 02/08/2015

Pros:

Good Design

Cons:

Limited Connectitivity, Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This device had the capability to become one of the best. But unfortunately, the limited connectivity of this device to other devices make this device almost useless. It does not work with android nor windows phone nor it is compatible to any desktops! Also, it does not work with many Samsung Phones too!!! I have wasted my money on this product I hope Samsung guys are listening!!! Samsung could have one of the devices but its wasted opportunity because of the limited compatibility of this device!

Needed update

Pros:

Durable, Inexpensive, Lightweight

Cons:

Need To Be Able To Enter Length Of Step For Pedome

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

the gear fit is a very good product however he could be improved by updating the software for the pedometer. If the software was updated to allow you to enter the length of your stride the pedometer would be more accurate.

A.......for effort but buy something else...!

By msp116 from Undisclosed on 01/30/2015

Pros:

Bright Display

Cons:

Pretty Much Useless And Software Is Horrible

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

View Image Gallery Samsung Gear Fit Smart Watch, Black A for effort but look elsewhere.......... By msp116 on Jan 26, 2015 OK This was a Christmas gift and started using religiously on 1/2/15 here is what I think so far...... PROS: Keeps good track of your heart-rate without having to wear band....but can be finicky if not on your on your wrist just right. Keeps track of your actual run time......just don't forget to stop it when your done running. Haven t used the sleep function. Screen is awesome as long as you change the orientation so you can read while running. Getting text on watch is OK but your probably not buying this to monitor your text messages or answer phone calls. CONS: Maybe its just mine but after reading a lot of reviews I think I'm definitely with the majority......the calorie counter is completely useless. On morning runs I don't get anywhere near what I should be burning and what's weird is that when I run in the evening its more accurate, but usually overshoots the mark see pics, and yes I have my stats put in height weight gender age I'm 6'1" 255 and know for a fact that I burn more than 360cal after running for 45min@6mph. see attached pics.....also notice on log screen about the only useful info it gives is how long you ran, I could care less about what time of the day I started running and the calories which are big and bold are useless and why wouldn't you put total miles? you would think that would be the one important thing you would like to know? Actual distance ran. If you use just the watch it usually overshoots your distance by as much as a mile sometimes I usually run 4mi. This has been verified by gps and other devices. I usually subtract a minimum of 30% to get accurate distance? The step counter is OK but is completely useless unless you remember to actually start it......where as every single other device you find does this automatically. Have only used GPS function once because you need your SAMSUNG phone and need to be outside. Even then its spotty. Junk: Yes I know that this really isn't a category, but feel it needs special attention.....The SOFTWARE S HEALTH. I have to admit I'm into programming so maybe I'm a little bias on this, but this software is total junk. Come on Samsung did you not even ask/test this before just putting it out. First of all the Gear Fit is not compatible with any other fitness software only S Health you would think that this would be open source so other software developers could at least try to put out something better. About the only thing it does accurately is keep track of your time and avg heart rate. Navigation is a nightmare lets say you run almost every day for a month and would like to know something simple like total miles ran, guess what, doesn't do that so you literally have to navigate through every day and add them up. Same with total calories same with avg run time? and even if it did this it would only be 50% accurate......I hate to say I will probably keep due to being a gift, this has been out for almost a year now and it seems like there has been little to no updates from Samsung not to sure of its future and with CES just ending over new products will be out soon.....unless some major improvement to firmware and software are made look elsewhere.

Great and Getting Even Better

By Vic2000 from Fort Worth, TX on 01/29/2015

Pros:

Realistic Color, Bright Display, Stylish, Lightweight

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

For a fitness tracker, the Gear Fit is ambitious. It doesn't have all of the features of the Gear smartwatch, but was designed to monitor physical activity. It does also allow users to view incoming text messages, and reply with saved responses you can customize yourself. You can also customize the background screen image. It also charges very quickly. I've had this for over 6 months, and it still attracts the attention of whoever is around. It's getting even better because the software is consistently improving -so I can see data today that I couldn't several months ago. I hope Samsung will continue to evolve the S Health software app (you view this on your phone), because I plan to keep the Gear Fit in daily use.

Don't know how I lived without it!

By TiberianFiend from Crofton, MD, USA on 01/29/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Realistic Color, Inexpensive, Bright Display

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Went to one of the big electronics stores and looked at every fitness band. The Gear Fit was the only one that looked worth the money and had all the features I was looking for. It's screen is big enough to see messages easily and pairs seamlessly to my Galaxy phone all the time. You can still get away with wearing a nice leather/stainless banded dress watch on your other wrist without looking lame since the Gear Fit isn't oversized and doesn't look like a regular watch. Highly recommend a high grade screen protector/shield for the screen. Only feature I feel they could improve on is the Sleep Tracker function, I use that feature every night but it doesn't give too many details like some of the competition, a software update for the sleep function would be awesome. 5 stars though overall!

LOVE THIS!

By Flashy1 from Sandy, UT, USA on 01/28/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I absolutely love my gear fit. I wanted a Fitbit for Christmas but my family got me the Gear Fit instead and I have a friend that has a Fitbit so we compared them and the Gear Fit is way more accurate. The only thing they can improve on is the cycling feature, I only get on a bike at the gym and it doesn't work with that. I would it if they improved the sleep feature so it would tell you how many times you woke up during the night. Overall, I will stick with the Gear Fit and I recommend it to everyone. My friend that has the Fitbit is looking at getting a Gear Fit.

Sleep Walking?

By Ashley1446g from Undisclosed on 01/26/2015

Pros:

Realistic Color, Bright Display

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I wake up every morning with 19 steps no more no less, however my sleep monitor says a different story... I also find it cannot measure my heart rate during a workout even after I have taken the watch off and wiped my wrist and the gear fit off from sweat. I am over all happy with the gear fit, however as I got this for the sole purpose of measuring my heart rate during workouts as well as calories burned. Finally, during my run it some home stopped calulating the time...I will try again to make sure i just didnt press reset accidentally... I dont know that this product could exactly be given a 4 star rating due to the fact that it really doesnt measure those when you need it most.

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I got mine for Christmas and was very disappointed. I loved the design and fit. After realizing it doesn't work with S Health on the Note 3, I returned it. What's the point of having it if it doesn't sync my activities with my phone. I was very disappointed to find only works with the S5. It was advertised to work with the Note 3. Back to the drawing board to find an activity tracker with a heart rate monitor I like.

Love, love, love it.

Realistic Color, Bright Display

Cons:

Wish It Had A Way To Listen To Music.

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I was wanting a wearable device that would track my steps without having my S5 on me all the time. I liked the larger "made for men" watches but they were just too big and bulky for my arm. I received a "Fitbit" from my work and it worked fine but if I'm going to wear something on my arm I wanted a watch. I also love all the other features it gives me. Now, my husband want's me to hurry up and upgrade my S5 phone, he always gets my hand-me-downs, so he can have my watch. I told him he would have to get the big bulky one, I was staying with Samsung and it would work with my new phone when I get one...lol Thank you Samsung for such a great product!

Kind of a fun gadget, but does not calculate distance accurate.

By SusieQtheScrooge from Yuma, Arizona on 01/15/2015

Pros:

Inexpensive, Lightweight

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I received it as a gift and love the look and all the functions, however using the pedometer on my wrist does not calculate the correct steps. I have tried using it on my hip and it calculates the steps very accurate there but I wanted a wrist device. Hmmmmm. I have tried the exercise portion and found the exact results - not accurate. I am walking and hiking with a friend who is also using a pedometer and have something to compare to so that is how I know mine is incorrect. I don't want to give up so will to do some more research on settings and carry on. Love the different bands you can get for them.

a neat concept but needs work

By fitathomemom from Cochrane, Alberta on 01/14/2015

Pros:

Lightweight

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

After purchasing the Gear for my husband, I thought the Fit would be better suited for my lady wrist. The style is sleek and thinner. I am only reviewing this to try and give Samsung some feedback. I have been wearing it now for several months. The positives- caller ID. I have the Samsung Note phone and so it often gets put in the diaper bag and is not easily accessible. This is a handy feature so I know when someone is calling and dig for the phone sooner. I like the text notifications. The quick reply back is limited. Not enough selection an you can only input a few of your own. But at least I can view them. The weather is handy...and the correct time since it's blue toothed to the phone. NEGATIVES...The fit part of this watch. It doesn't accurately count steps. I often walk with a stroller and if my arms aren't moving/swinging...it doesn't detect . The exercise part of this watch is pathetic. It only gives the options of walking, running, hiking or biking. I'm assuming because these are all GPS traceable and will track distance if you are doing all of the above outside. However if you are...say...doing a Spin class on a stationary bike, it doesn't track a thing. I think this part needs a lot of work. There is much more to exercise than these sports and outdoor fitness. I even tried to track a walk when I was at a resort on holidays and we were doing a lot of walking. However if you are stopped for any length of time, it stops. The heart rate monitor also needs work. If I'm doing a fitness class and want to monitor my heart rate...I have to stop and stand still, remove the sweat off the inside of the watch so it will detect...and even then it says it can't be detected. So unless you want a resting heart rate, you're out of luck with this pathetic heart rate monitor. The sleep mode is kind of neat. You can track hours of sleep. However I'm not consistent in using it because I have to charge the watch at least every other night. I am a good candidate for this watch as I have the Samsung phone and I'm also very active. However I had to buy a watch that had a better heart rate monitor that straps around the chest and will accurately measure calories and continue to measure heart rate as you work out. I also use the amazing myfitnesspal app, that Samsung should be affiliated with, to track food eaten and all my activity and calories burned. Much more work needed. Too bad the watch wasn't like a phone or app where updates could be done to improve performance.

Love this Product just needs a Few more Features!

Pros:

Cons:

No Oxygen Level, No Telephone Conection, Not High Def

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I really love this Samsung Gear Fit. It's light weight it works well with my Samsung Galaxy s5. Just wish it would work better with a few more feature. 1 in the HEALTH Dept. since it does your Heart Rate it would be great if it did your Oxygen level as well since they work off the same dept. Plus I also wish this device would answer my phone calls for me & make my go to speaker phone for me especially when I am driving down the road it would be very helpful in that dept. Other than I think it a great device for people with medical needs. I still have not figured out how to use a lot of things on this device, wish there was somebody around here locally to show me how to use it more & more to make it more enjoy able to me.

Very good product...

By hmata3 from TX on 01/12/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight, Access To Notifications, Realistic Color, Inexpensive

Cons:

Unavailability Of Full Customization

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've had the Gear Fit for about one week. The heart rate monitor is excellent and fairly accurate. The pedometer is good, but I haven't had it long enough to evaluate its accuracy. I work in an building where phone service becomes very weak. However, I can now leave the phone in covered, discreet area near a window, and will instantly receive notification of a text or call. The Bluetooth range is very good. The downside is that now many apps are available to fully customize the display and usability of this watch. I'd like to change the font color of the clock and other function, but I guess this is expected in the early stages of development. Highly recommended product, nonetheless!

Cons:

this is really a smartwatch and I love this feature. But the fitness tracker part is truly a miss. Pedometer count is way high than the real count, as well as the kilometer count in running. I wish Samsung will have software updates soon to correct this.

Great Product

By Bishopkc from Kansas City, MO, USA on 01/06/2015

Pros:

Lightweight, Inexpensive, Bright Display, Realistic Color, Durable

Cons:

The Watch Band Is A Bit Bland

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had my Gear Fit for almost 1 month now. I have not had any issues with it and I have been impressed with design, functionality, and the integration with my phone (Samsung Note 4). The battery life is great also. I currently can go 3 full days before recharging the Gear Fit. Durability has been fine as well although I not the type of person who test things I buy to the limit. I have washed dishes wearing the Gear Fit and although I did not submerse the Gear Fit in water, it withstood the water it did encounter without issue. The only feature missing for me right now, is that I would like my Gear Fit to automatically check my heart rate throughout the day/night. Right now, you manually do that by clicking the Heart Rate icon on the Gear Fit (yes...that is very easy) but if the Gear Fit can do it for automatically on some periodic basis, you could have a more complete heart rate history (i.e. heart rate while sleeping).

Does not sync with any Samsung apps*

By Erk80 from Huntington, IN 46750, USA on 01/06/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Durable, Lightweight

Cons:

Doesn't Sync To Apps

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I downloaded the required app per the instructions; it Fails to Sync when the app is opened, once you retry countless times and finally hit cancel, it shows that it Synced with the current date and time and data. HOWEVER, you cannot access anything else, as in NO PAST HISTORY. The app shows details charts - which you cannot access because of this issue. It doesn't work with the Gear Fit apps or the Gear Fit Manager or S Health. I am using it with a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active which is 15 months old. Very disappointed with Samsung, I love my Galaxy Tab and S4 and like what the watch does, just wish it would work correctly with apps - ya know - LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO!

Cons:

Needs To Sync With More Commonly Used Fitness App

Bottom Line:

Such a great piece of equipment. Meets almost every need for a working busy mother also trying to stay in shape. Most experienced fit geeks are using the well, known apps myfitnesspal and mapmyrun. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone! If only they would allow this gear to sync with those common apps. S Health is pointless for those who live in conditions where sometimes the gym workout is the only option. Please update soon to sync with those more commonly used apps! Your product would be number 1 for sure!

Depends on where you work

By JavaWoman from Virginia Beach, VA, USA on 01/05/2015

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight

Cons:

Not Usable At My Work Place Due To Security Issues, Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I got this because I take a medication that affects my blood pressure and heart rate. I thought this would be a good way to keep an eye on them during the day without having to carry my BP cuff to work. Unfortunately, I work in a secured building. Devices that connect to a wireless signal are not allowed, so I had to carry it back to my car and leave it there. So I am not allowed to carry my new watch into work. I went back to wearing my reliable old analog Timex, no flashing lights, no calendar, just time including seconds. The Fit Watch fit well, and I am sure that it would work well for people who don't work in a secured area, but if you are in the military or work for the federal government in any secured capacity, don't buy this or any other wireless connected-style watch, as it won't be allowed in your facility. If you will only need it during your off time, then maybe that is okay for you. For me, only being able to wear it at night or weekends is bad performance. The design and features were good, if I could have used them, they would have met my performance needs, especially combined with the apps on my Samsung tablet. But, not being able to use it at the times I needed equalled a poor value for me, so I returned the unit.

Power Button broke and poor heart rate monitor

By Coalgirl from Colorado Springs on 01/05/2015

Pros:

Bright Display

Cons:

Poor Quality, Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I am very disappointed in the heart rate monitor. It can take up to 3 times trying before it will read my heart rate. When it does, it is very off. I walked up 15 flights of stairs and showed my heart rate to be 83 bpm. The power button is stuck and I cannot turn the unit off now or on. I have to swing my arm to get the display to show. I will be taking this back to where I bought it for a return.

I'm disappointed with the performance with this product. Distance calculation is way off and sometimes as much at 1/2 mile after running a 5K. I work hard for my miles and I'd prefer a more accurate unit. It looks stylish but that's all it's has going for the Gear Fit.

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I am hard of hearing so I never hear my message alerts, rarely hear my phone ring, etc. This is great for me because I do feel it buzzing on my wrist so now I get to my messages in a timely manner. Also, most of the time I don't hear the alarm in the morning and once again I do feel the buzz from the gear fit and that wakes me up. The pedometer function is great. It helps me to make my fitness goals. I also like the sleep function. There is a find my device function which will be helpful. All in all this is a useful little device for me.

Departed with my Gear Fit with Great Sadness

By Jiria from London, UK on 12/28/2014

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

With great excitement, I purchased my first Gear Fit four months ago. The watch had all the functions I wanted in a fitness watch - heart rate measurement, pedometer, syncs in with my phone for receiving notifications as well as tracking my fitness progress through the S Health app. The watch itself is easy to use and aesthetically pleasing. However a fundamental flaw for the watch lies in the design of the strap. The buckle design means that the watch can come off your wrist easily. A few close calls where the straps loosens and the watch fell off my wrists onto the ground. I was previously lucky to have spotted this and manage to not lose the watch. It is with great sadness that the day has arrived where the strap failed due to the buckle design becoming loose once again resulting in the my watch falling off my wrist. This time without me noticing at the time as I was walking down a street and now the watch is lost. I am very disappointed in this as I believe the watch itself is a great product with all the functions but the strap really let the whole product experience down. I urge you to consider a more secure design for the strap so customers don't bare the risk of losing their watch. I truly believe if the strap is designed better for a secure fit then it wouldn't have fallen off my wrist.

OK for smart watch terrible for fitness.

By kkllppooiiuuyy from Fairfield CA on 12/28/2014

Pros:

Lightweight, Bright Display

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations, Poor Quality

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

My wife bought me this for Christmas as a replacement for my fit bit flex. I wish I had read all of the reviews. As the title states it is OK as a smart watch, but is absolutely sub-standard for any of its fitness functions. Unless you just want a middle of the road smart watch do not purchase this.

fails in calorie counting

By csmith9176 from naples, florida on 12/27/2014

Pros:

Realistic Color, Stopwatch, Previews Cell Phone Messages, Alerts You To Phone Calls, Lightweight, Bright Display

Cons:

Calorie Calculate Is Off 5000%, Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

fabulous that this small device can connect to your cell phone for tracking your steps in running, walking, or even cycling but because it lacks a set for general gym activity it fails miserably in calculating the amount of calories that you burn per day. For example wearing another tracking device, I burned 2200 calories today and wearing the gear fit device it says I burned a hundred and sixty two lol after 1 hour of intense high intensity weight lifting and cardio circuit training. And walking half the day.

Good Options, Tracker not for me

By AngelLike from Long Island, New York, USA on 12/26/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Inexpensive

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I am very disappointed with the exercise tracker on this device. I purchased the product thinking my calories would be tracked with the intensity of the workout (Higher heart rate). This is not the case. So far I have tried running because there is no option for personal training/ kickboxing type of work out. During a 1 hour hard workout, my device says I only burned 65 calories. It is totally useless for me. Also, even though it reads heart rate during the exercise, it does not record it. It would be nice to be able to analyze the workout intensity myself. I do like how it integrates the rest of the options with my S Health and it would work well for those who just Run/ Walk/ Hike/ Cycle.

Love Love Love

Pros:

Durable, Lightweight, Bright Display

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I tried other fitness bands and my consistent complaint was inaccuracy. I tested them all using the same 4.0 mile hike and all were inaccurate, as much as 7%. I decided to try the GearFit because I've owned a Samsung Galaxy tablet and smartphone for years and have never had any problems. This product did not disappoint. It is accurate, sleek, and easy to use. The only drawback is that it is not integrated with MyFitnessPal, but I'm hopeful!! I would definitely recommend it and HAVE!

I have been looking for a heart rate monitor since mine died 2 years ago. I had a fit bit but it did not monitor heart rate. This watch has everything I have been looking and more. I am excited to track my sleep along with my workout tomorrow! I love the look and that I can see my notifications on my wrist.

Not too shabby...

By GenericOreos from Vallejo, CA on 12/16/2014

Pros:

Realistic Color, Lightweight, Phone Integration, Bright Display

Cons:

Usb Charger Is Not On The Unit Itself

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My wife bought me the Galaxy Gear Fit smartwatch because I'd been bugging her about getting me a competitor's watch. I had actually never heard of the Gear Fit until she brought it up, at which point I read up as much as I could about it. Suffice it to say, I was hooked. It had almost everything I wanted in a smartwatch: steps counter, heart rate monitor, phone connectivity. I already had a calorimeter in another watch, and I could track my runs using an app on my phone. So I guess I was set. Tonight is the first time I've used this watch, and I can't say I have anything bad to say...yet. The steps counter is almost the same as having my phone in my pocket, except obviously it's smaller. Which leads me to my next thing. I can barely tell it's on my wrist, which is a definite plus. Since this is my first time playing with this watch, I'm really careful about banging it against surfaces and risk scratching up its face. The good thing about this watch is that you don't have to have the phone with you to track steps (although I think you need your phone with you to track other activities). It will make sounds if you set it up that way, and will vibrate accordingly. It has notifications when you get a new msg or a twitter interaction, and you can even control your media through it. Appearance-wise, it's definitely stylish and sleek. Its silver trim mirrors the Samsung phones and actually looks like a mini-phone on your wrist. I believe that Samsung has since upgraded its system since its initial release to allow more apps to integrate within the Gear Fit's framework, and that is a good thing when you want to add some fitness-related apps. All in all, it's not a bad deal if you want the phone integration with your watch. Haven't tried it yet but you can accept/decline phone calls from your watch, which is cool. Give it a try if you want something cool on your wrist.

Cool gadget but needs work

By ColdForgeRings from Undisclosed on 12/12/2014

Pros:

Cool Gadget

Cons:

Needs Better Partner App, No Web Site Log Like Others, Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Just got 2 of these and while it's ultimately a cool gadget there are some bugs. 1. The manual shows features that are non existent example would be Auto Sleep Mode...not a function on the device. 2. The app S Heath shows the temperature in Celsius even though it's set to F. 3. S Health has no way to set weight goals (I'm coming from a Fitbit) i.e. I weight 180 and want to drop 10 lbs. Based on my 1 lb a week goal what is my calorie intake? You can set the calories but it's not really intuitive. I like the Fitbit where it says "Hey, you have 500 calories left...unless you exercise! Then you can eat ice cream" (OK I mad that up but it does say intake and burn and shows the budget). I realize that this is ranting about the app and the device but I view this as an eco system that should all work together flawlessly. This is a cool "gadget" but not great

By aztecaman from Santa Ana, CA on 12/12/2014

Pros:

Inexpensive, Bright Display, Comfortable To Wear, Lightweight

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

So far I'm pleased with the Gear fit, it's just the right size for my needs, I wish it had a better locking mechanism for the wristband as I fear I might loose it some day if I get it caught on my clothing. I'm happy with the features, heart rate monitor, pedometer, sleep pattern monitor, plus messaging and locate my device to make my Galaxy S5 ring if I misplace it. Plus battery life has been better than expected.

Great device, but...

By hummelbabe from Fairbanks, AK, USA on 12/08/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Easy To Use For All Phone Related Items, Hr Sleep Exercise And Step Monitors

Cons:

Too Big

I have had this for over a week. Now. I love the features of this Gear Fit. It does everything! It even has some add on apps like a flashlight, which really came in handy last night when I knocked something off my nightstand. It sinks really well with my Note 4 too. I have no issues with its functionality. My complaint with the Gear Fit is that it is really huge on my wrist. When I wear it I feel like I have a wide leather strap on my arm from the 70's. It also makes it hard to put on my winter gloves since the wrists don't want to stretch out that far. I also don't like the ridges on the band. I was hoping to see a belt clip accessory for this, but it appears Samsung only wants to focus on the wrist type applications. I did take it off the band and wore it in my pocket for a few days, but that was very inconvenient when checking my progress. It also won't work for sleeping patterns when it is off your wrist. Overall is a great tool if you don't mind wearing larger jewelry, especially for a man. As for me, I am returning it and going with the Fitbit which isn't as thick and comes with a belt clip.

Awesome companion for my note 4

By Alpinef1 from Decatur, IL on 12/01/2014

Pros:

Realistic Color, Great Companion To Smart Phone, Lightweight, Bright Display

Cons:

Some May Not Like The Small Sideways Screen

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This thing works flawlessly with my note 4. I use it to see my messages, who is calling, and change songs while I work out so I don't have to drag my phone out of my pocket. I have had this for about 3 weeks and love it. It lasts about 2 to 3 days depending on my usage. Also I like how you can use your own wallpaper on the watch. Only thing I wish is when it dislays messages it would side scroll to show the entire message. But the sideways screen doesn't bother me.

Good Design, but FAIL on fitness tracking.

By JJbean from Undisclosed on 11/28/2014

Pros:

Durable, Bright Display, Lightweight

Cons:

No Fitness Tracking History, No Tracking Website, Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I loved this when I purchased this, as I find out now there is no website to track your stats. It is supposed to sync with your phone and Samsungs fitness app. , but big fail on that. It will show you today on your phone but will not sync to whatever server it is supposed to be syncing to to track your stats. The gear fit will NOT work with any android wear apps. Big fail for Samsung, I really like Samsung, but the Gear Fit is a fail, unless you only want to track today and have no history of anything you use the gear Fit for. Time to sell it and move on to another company for fitness tracking.. :(

Gear Fit

By Cody90 from texas on 11/18/2014

Pros:

Waterproof, Bright Display, Lightweight, Realistic Color, Fair Price, Durable

Cons:

Needs Weight Training Added To Exercise Options

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

At first i really was not happy with the Gear Fit and wanted to return it after 2 days. But instead since bestbuy had a 15 day return i decided to give it another shot. I do wear my gear fit upside down seems to work way better in this position For my weight training i start of with the treadmill so i set the device on running, which it tracked my heart-rate continuously throughout and distance and was fairly accurate. I left it on running mode during my weight training so it can track my heart-rate and calorie burn and same thing it did very well. throughout the day at work i do a lot of walking around so i set the device to walking mode, as well it track my heart-rate continuously and distance. when i know i am going to be sitting for awhile i set it back to just the step counter. For accuracy i know it is not 100% but it does give a good general idea i workout and train almost everyday and i use to wear a heart rate monitor so i know when my heart rate is in the 120 range or above 160 so it does come fairly close So now i feel differently about the gear fit i really does a good job and i love that it is water-proof. I dont like that i have to be changing modes but then again it keeps me active. Samsung Really needs to add weight lifting as an exercise option and cross-fit style i dont mind putting it on running mode (which tracks well) but it would be nice to see it on my logs on S-Health. Also it needs to fix the calorie burn i feel its under.

Gear Fit & Note 3

By xenaaz from Arizona, USA on 11/16/2014

Pros:

Lightweight

Cons:

Doesn't Work With All Samsung Phones

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The Gear Fit does not work with the Note 3 nor with any of the associated apps. It doesn't work with S Health nor with the Fitness with Gear app. You link it to your Samsung account, pair it with your Note 3 and it only keeps your daily information. Gear Fit keeps a log but it can't sync it with the other apps for you to track your progress. There are numerous forums and complaints about the incompatibility issues and apparently Samsung doesn't respond with an update to fix the issue. It works well with the Galaxy S5, but I'm not buying a new phone. Samsung needs to fix it with any update. I am a strong supporter of Samsung and their products. Have had them for years not just phones, but TVs, refrigerator, headphones, etc. I am really disappointed with their lack of response to this issue. I will be returning my Gear Fit.

Two Services in Two Months

By OrWolfe from Undisclosed on 11/14/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Inexpensive, Lightweight

Cons:

Poor Quality

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I've had to have my Gear Fit sent in for service twice in the last two minutes because of getting caught in an endless reboot cycle. When it is working I've loved the ability to be able to quickly see summaries of my emails and text messages at a glance. Also receiving sport score updates and other notifications all without taking my phone out of my pocket. I wear a Bluetooth so I can leave my phone at my desk while I get coffee and if I get a call I can tell who is calling and take it or send them a text response that I pre create. Again all this is great when I have it and it is not off to the service center.

Great smart watch but not for fitness

By anthonyg from Undisclosed on 11/02/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Durable, Realistic Color, Lightweight

Cons:

Fitness Function Is Weak, Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I bought the watch primarily to measure sleep patterns (e.g., restful sleep) and miles run, pace per mile and heart rate during exercise. The sleep part works well but the heart rate monitor during exercise was way off. It measured 172 beats per minute during cool down periods of interval trainign which is ridiculous. I could get a more accurate measure manually. And the distance was off anywhere from 25% - 40%. based on the S Health app in my S5 phone and my own general knowledge of the courses I run and walk. I only had the watch 29 days and returned it. I forgot to mention thar the software froze during the 29 day period and I had to reset the watch. The non fitness features work very well but for me, I purchased it for the fitness function.

Fitness with Gear no longer logs data for me anymore.

By AKUMA888 from Houston, TX, USA on 10/23/2014

Pros:

Lightweight, Bright Display

Cons:

No Longer Logs Data To Fitness With Gear., Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

When I first got my Gear Fitness, I was very happy that it's able to track my exercise activity, amount of steps, and sleep pattern and I can see my own historical pattern to see my progress. However, after Oct 10th (to many others... 12th) 2014, this feature stopped working for me. The only thing I can see from the Fitness with Gear is the current snap shot of the pedometer or the last recorded data. It no longer save the data for you to review later... Wouldn't be easier if these data can be logged locally on the smartphone itself? What is the point of tie Gear Fitness with fitness with gear when no one is addressing this issue? The purpose of buying the product is that you can view your activity from your Samsung Smart Phone. If the functionality isn't there... you're better off buying a cheaper sport watch.

Got this for the wife to replace her failing Fitbit Flex. She loved its design, I loved how easy it was to use out of the box compared to similar products. It is somewhere in between a smartwatch and a fitness tracker. Battery life is great, screen is amazing and it is not all bulky like a smartwatch. Good job Samsung. My only complaint is that it does not work on non-Samsung phones so I am unable to buy one for myself :(. Oh yeah, waterproof is nice, used to take off the Fitbit when giving the baby a bath and you can pause the pedometer whenever you want.

Love but would ABSOLUTELY love

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight, Realistic Color, Durable

Cons:

Wish It Linked To Myfitnesspal

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I am obsessed with my Gear Fit. I love it, but I would absolutely love it more if I could link it to MyFitnessPal. I have the SHealth but its hard to enter portions on the food for me. Ive been using MyFitnessPal and love using it...I really wish it was able to be linked with them. :/

The Samsung Gear Fit is a very poor fit!

By VeryDisappointedCustomer from Winston-Salem, NC on 09/28/2014

Pros:

Lightweight

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations, Very Poor Data On Website., Poor Quality

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This is a beautiful piece of equipment. I absolutely loved the feel and the look. From there, the accolades go downhill. Where should I start? The website simply would not let me download the manuals or any software to use the Gear Fit. It took a while, but the problem was that I am NOT Samsung centric in my phone or tablet. Heres a hint Samsung... DON'T say "mobile device" if you actually mean SAMSUNG GALAXY phone or tablet. I have neither and as a result, I am unable to use the fit. For me, this isn't even heavy enough to use as a fishing weight.

Massive disappointment

By GearF1t from Florida on 09/24/2014

Pros:

Lightweight, Good Size/shape, Realistic Color

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations, Poor Software

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Issues: 1. Locks up frequently 2. Start exercise/walking process and checks pressure then counts down 3,2,1 then you start walking. Only problem, it stops tracking your workout part of the way through your walk. 3. Press a button to check pedometer (or anything else). If the watch happens to be trying to sync to the phone it automatically locks up - game over! 4. Periodically doesn't want to charge up. 5. Pedometer stops counting steps for no reason and doesn't respond to pause/resume. Sometimes have to do a reset of watch to get it to work. 6. Don't know why - sometimes watch and phone get out of sync with each other and have to reset both, losing any record of workout that day. 7. Do not want to be compared to the "other" 10,000 people using Gear Fit. would like a way to disconnect that feature. 8. Would like to be able to exercise without the phone present. 9. Watch should beep if I leave the phone behind. Currently the phone beeps if I walk away with the watch. If it is in the next room I don't hear it. 10. Display does not stay bright after reset and requires setup again.

Needs some tweaks

By spnib from San Diego, CA, USA on 09/19/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight, Realistic Color, Durable

Cons:

Software Glitches, Won't Sync With Other Fitness Apps

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pro: Very nice and has cool features that allow to control phone (for the most part) while exercising. Con: While using the watch I have experienced the same problem twice now. When I receive a call while listening to music and running and try to answer and it seems to lock up everything. I try to return the call and the recipient can't hear me and music control is lost. I have to reboot both devices to get them to sync back up and clear the issues. That is very annoying. Distances are off compared to Map My Run and can't use on Stationary Bike.

It could be way better..

By meowsome from Louisiana on 09/14/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Battery Life Is Pretty Long, Lightweight, Durable

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations, Doesn't Open All Messages, Charger Dock Is Really Small And Easy To Lose, Distance Isn't Measured Correctly

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I like how it looks and that i can snooze my alarm from it. I like that i can jog and change songs without having to take my phone off my armband. I especially like that i can read texts from my watch but after one text, if you don't open it, the next message just says click to view but it doesn't allow you to click anything and you basically have to get your phone out to see the message. That gets annoying. The pedometer is great. The exercise (running) tracker is way off.. I've had it on while running 5ks and the time is right but the distance is never correct. I wish I could sync it up to my running app. This product could be so much better if they could just fix the little kinks.

Mostly what I was hoping for

By TraceyG from Upstate NY on 09/06/2014

Pros:

Lightweight, Pedometer, Bright Display, Notifications, Checks Heart Rate

Cons:

Data Sharing 'tween Apps Unavailable For Galaxy S4

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought this with the hopes of keeping track of certain things during exercising. Especially, heart rate and how many steps I've gone that day. Liked the idea that it would send call and txt notifications so that I wouldn't have to have my phone out as I went for walks and such. I don't always hear my phone in my purse. The Gear Fit vibrates when a txt or call comes through. You can also set up other notifications, such as twitter, facebook, and so on. I used the walking mode when on my treadmill. The calories burned according to gear fit matched with the estimations on my treadmill. I found that wearing the Gear Fit with the screen under my wrist (facing my palm) rather than on the top of my wrist (facing back of hand) gave better and constant heart rate readings. It also saved the screen from being bumped during exercising. For the most part, it does what I was hoping for. I have Samsung Galaxy S4. So, at this moment, the program, Fitness with Gear, doesn't seem to sync up with S Health the way I'd hoped. I dislike having half of my steps counted on the Gear Fit, while the other half is on the phone when I'm not wearing the watch. I know I've made my goal for the day, but the programs should record it completely. There should be a way to add them together. I know there is for a Galaxy S5. Hopefully, they'll make an update for this soon. I also wish there was a setting for aerobics. For the most part, I'm happy with my purchase so far and see me using this at least 5 days a week.

Easy to loose

By RegularJoe from Undisclosed on 09/05/2014

Pros:

Cons:

Band Clasp Is Terrible

The band is not very secure. The clasp has separated several times for my wife and myself. Fortunately for my wife she has found her device twice after it has fallen off. It get stuck on clothes and you don't notice that its off your wrist. For me, my device fell off several times and now is gone.

By dredroid from Washington, USA on 09/05/2014

Pros:

Lightweight, Realistic Color, Inexpensive, Bright Display

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I think the Gear Fit was a great smart band that showed a lot of potential but it lack the thin sleekness I was looking for plus the side height is to tall for me. I think the Gear S is the answer to what I mean. We have to thank Samsung for the array of options in the Smart Watch category that they give us.

Good - When it Works

By squarepegjer from Warren, PA on 09/04/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations, Faulty Software

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I purchased one for myself and one as a gift for my wife. Mine is pretty good. Occasionally, it will reset itself, losing all of the data that has not yet been synced with the phone... Which also means you have to set up all of your settings and apps again. My wife's, however, is a complete lemon. It constantly resets itself, and now refuses to sync data with S Health - which is the whole point. Heart rate monitor only works about half of the time - even when it's cleared of sweat and you keep completely still. It is accurate when it works, though. So far - I like it, but it definitely needs to be improved to demand a price tag like it has.

By appleh8tr from Tomball, TX on 08/13/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight

Cons:

Minimal Apps

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've had this unit for about 2 weeks now and for what I needed this fits the bill. Pros, the design is great..I dig ditches and work in the water field so this unit compliments what I needed it for because I measure heart rate back and run daily... cons, the unit needs more functions. ..when I run it monitors my heart rate so it would be nice if I could set it to monitor my heart rate when I want it too, also there are limited apps for the new unit as expected but I'm hopeful that will change soon. I like the unit though and am very optimistic about its future.

Eh... doesn't need to be sold as a fit companion - more distance tracking..

By ItWasMeKerri from Juneau, AK, USA on 07/30/2014

Pros:

Durable, Bright Display

Cons:

Did Not Count Calories For Gym Workout, Did Not Meet Expectations, No Control Over Vibration Strength/ Notification

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The concept is really cool. BUT... unless you are walking, cycling, hiking, or running the "fit" part doesn't really do you any good (these are the only choices of exercise you can choose from). I was excited to check this out, but was skeptical since no one that sold it to me could answer anything about the heart rate monitor. I workout and take classes at the gym. I was hoping to replace my heart rate monitor chest strap. It doesn't replace it. So, while I'd hoped it would count my calories burned, it did not. As a matter of fact, it counted 1 calorie every way I tried to use it. I tried it on all choices (run, walk, etc.). If it truly is reading my heart rate, I would think it would count the calories. HERE IS MY DISCLAIMER: I am not familiar with the "technical" side of the equipment, so I could be mistaken... BUT... it seems that if you are traveling (walking, running, etc.) it does not utilize your heart rate to count calories... OR maybe it doesn't initiate the heart rate monitor unless you are traveling? I don't know. As far as the notifications... text, FB, email, etc... It was neat, but that as about it. If you really needed to be notified that you have incoming items, it would be great. If you are using it to be able to check your messages, etc., discreetly, good luck. It's still pretty obvious that you are looking at something; difference is, instead of your lap, it's your wrist. One problem though most of the time I could not feel the vibration alert. I never found a way to increase or decrease the strength of the notification. I hate to sound so negative but I just wasn't thrilled. The "idea" of it is great, but it just lacks in follow through. If had done just a bit more, I would have kept it. I just felt that I couldnt justify the expense for something that I used more of as a watch. I think I'll wait to see what else happens in the techy gear fit watch arena a little longer. WIth much heartache, I returned it.

minimalist fitness tracker

By ranger67 from Florida, USA on 07/26/2014

Pros:

Inexpensive, Lightweight, Nice Sleep Monitor, Bright Display, Realistic Color

Cons:

Buggy, Physically Irritating

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This unit can be laggy and slow to respond to touch. I set it for running and it just stopped at 17:55 out of a 43 minute run. It seems to have a hard time with monitoring heart rate unless you are perfectly still. In addition, though I wipe it and clean it daily when I take my shower, and no I don't shower with it on, the plastic retaining pins have already flaked off the outer silver and are presenting red and have gotten rougher, sometimes irritating my wrist. On the upside, I get 3-4 days on a single charge with the pedometer on full time and it integrates nicely with my s5. If it wasn't for my s5, I would return it. Btw, I've only owned the device for 20 days.

Research before makin your purchase

By Gljbm2014 from Undisclosed on 07/25/2014

Pros:

Lightweight

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I did a lot of research before making my purchase. So I knew before hand that it would not function just like the gear 2 neo. This watch did what I needed it to do and I knew that I didn't need the extras. So far I've lived with it on my wrist pretty much 24/7 for the last two weeks. My only complaint is the touch screen doesn't always respond (which was in reviews I read). Suggestion: is it possible to add a glucose tracker/app to S health?

Cons:

Wrist Strap Not Secure Enough

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

purchased this watch for my wife for her birthday back in May. She liked the watch and what it did, but the wrist strap kept coming undone while wearing it. well it finally happened to fall off and she did not notice until she got home. Went back and retraced her steps and of course she could not find the watch and no one turned it in. Due to the fact I do not have the watch anymore I can not get a new one. Just want to give everyone a heads up to be careful while wearing this watch because you will be out the cash before you know it. I would also like to know if anyone else is have a wrist strap issue.

Almost perfect

By FitFearlessgirl from Monterey, CA, USA on 07/20/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have been searching for quite awhile for a strapless heart rate monitor and something that will track my steps, running and calories burned during exercise. I had REALLY high hopes for the Gear fit but it is missing one crucial feature....you can't track your heart rate or calories burned during stationary exercise! What the heck! I teach Yoga and Pilates and really like to see how many calories I have burned. Unfortunately this is where the Gear fit falls short. Seems like a simple fix...Hint Hint Samsung! If this feature were added I would give it 5 stars as the rest of the functions are fabulous! Steps seem pretty accurate, same with heart rate. I love that I can see text messages and emails without having to look at my phone. Overall great product...just needs a few enhancements and it will be top notch!

Cons:

Bottom Line:

I like it, The pedometer seems more accurate than the walkmate on the S4. And it syncs up great with my phone. I like being able to see the text, email, and call details. The wake up gesture feature is a wee bit wonky while driving and tends to come on often for me. considering how much I use it the battery life isn't bad. I charge it about every other day overnight. Overall I think its a good value for the price and features compared to other similar products.

frustration

By biker955 from Zurich, Switzerland on 07/14/2014

Pros:

Bright Display

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Dear alll I bought the Gear Fit to be notified before a Outlook appointment. Now I'm very disappointed because this feature is only working if it is connected to my Galaxy S5. Why is the Gear Fit not able to keep the next 5 appointments stored without connection to S5? For me this function is absolutely useless if a connection to the S5 is a requirement:-( Otherwise the step counter is really unexact: after 5 hours with my car (manual gearbox) I had more the 500 steps on my Gear Fit:-( The heart rate sensor is only working if you don't move: but I like to measure while I'm walking, same as with a chest belt! When does Samsung plan to fix this with an Upgrade??? THX & cheers, biker955

Great hardware, bad functionality

By m31c from Geneva, Switzerland on 07/11/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The FIT in the product's name is misleading. In fact, the fitness tracking functionality is greatly reduced by the bad software design, which does not allow continuous heart rate monitoring, which is a shame considering the dedicated hardware it has. S-Health will not read live hear rate either, even though it has the option in the menu. The 'quality' of the sleep when in sleeping mode appears only to be affected by the gyroscope activity. HEART RATE is yet again missing. I wonder if it's worth keeping this device hoping for an update in firmware and better Android software. I don't need 2 day battery color watch! I need a fitness tracker!

Good but with major issues - No AutoLock after update

By DW83 from Undisclosed on 07/07/2014

Pros:

Lightweight, Bright Display, Durable

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations, No Auto Lock, Health Data Is Way Off

First of All, this has potential. The screen looks great, the curve is nice, it is lighter than I expected, battery life isn't bad at all, in fact, I kind of wish they made the watch with a similar (just wider) curved screen because it works well. Unfortunately, the software is extremely limited and one of the biggest selling points of the watch, auto lock (the ability to lock your phone when out of range of the watch) is now gone!!!!! Thanks Samsung for selling me on this feature and then taking it away after I buy it. I really wanted to give them 1 star for that but I'll be fair. The fitness side is not much better. The data, while awesome, just is not accurate enough to be useful. And that is the big deal with this. Notifications work well enough...similar to any gear smartwatch and that is really the biggest selling point at this time. I enjoy notifications but unfortunately it's not enough to make this device worth it.

I've had the gear fit since launch day, and I chose this over the gear 2, one because I work out and run a lot so the gear 2 was too bulky for me. I have worn it nearly every day and night and have not had any rashes like some say they do. ( take the watch off and clean your wrist helps) the heartbeat monitor is sometime hard to get, you have to make sure your really still, however while you check It while running/walking it picks it up very quickly. I'm not sure what the difference is in it doing that but it does. I have noticed they are a few apps slowly coming out for this gear fit watch. I downloaded a calculator and I am able to scroll my contacts now and call. I just wish it had a speaker or mic so you can chat on it. One thing I do not like or at least haven't figured out is how to delete screen savers I've made or used for it. I highly recommend this to the extremely fitness person, because I have many friends who have the FitBit and they absolutely love my gear Fit watch since it can do more then theirs. also I have yet to have it come off the band holds together well.

Cannot use with a Nexus 5

By supergrover from Undisclosed on 06/23/2014

Cons:

Is Not Supported On Non-samsung Handsets, Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Got this as a present and seemed like a cool little device. Unfortunately I was not able to download the Gear Fit Manager app for my Nexus 5. Kept getting a message saying "This device does not support Gear Fit". Its a shame the app is only available for newer Samsung handsets. Samsung is really limiting themselves here. At least I have a gift receipt...

Very Comfortable and Well Designed

By ConnieL429 from Racine, WI, USA on 06/14/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight, Very Comfortable To Wear, Durable

Cons:

Probably A Little Over Priced

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I haven't had this watch long but I did have both the original Gear and the gear 2 for a short time. While this watch can't do as much as those two, it is extremely comfortable to wear and gives me most of what I want. I really like the band on it too. I'm a little older so I may not utilize all the fitness stuff but I love the notifications and the overall design of this watch. With the other ones, it was always obvious to me I was wearing them (size and weight) but this one is much easier to forget you have it on. I'll be interested to see how I feel about it after about a week. I see no reason to think I'll change my mind about it.

Excellent for me, may not be so great for hard core fitness folks

By ajb65 from The desert on 06/14/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Durable

Cons:

Mediocre Fitness Features, Needs To Be About $50 Cheaper.

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I was intrigued by the Fit because of the sleep mode and HRM, and the ability to have some limited phone interaction. A pure smart watch was just too geeky for me, and the fitness band was more than I was looking for. What it does well for me: The HRM is adequate, but I'm sure not medical grade. I can get spot readings, and when I put it in exercise mode it displays my current HR along with the elapsed time.. My fitness routine is fairly moderate compared to many when it comes to cardio activity. I'm primarily in the gym for weightlifting, but I do spend a couple of days a week on an elliptical or bike. For this, it works well. The sleep mode is interesting, and while I have no way to gauge it's accuracy, it has provided some insights into my sleep patterns. Samsung admits the pedometer is not as accurate as the one on my S5, but it works good enough and provides a quick glance of my steps. As a smartwatch it does a fine job. I don't want to take pictures or respond to emails or text from a watch. I want it to tell time, and have the ability to communicate with my phone. To this extent, it is an excellent product. I like the media player, and that it works with Spotify. The display is beautiful, and can be customized to just about anyone's liking. It uses a standard micro USB charge plug, and I like that. I have mine paired with a GS5, and have no issues with that aspect. What's not so good: The S Fit app does need some work, and hopefully will get plenty of updates. For the most part all it really does is track your steps, and your manual HR measurements. I would like to see the app have a social element to share progress etc with others. It would also be helpful if your HR info during exercise was stored. Conclusion: Overall I'm happy with the product. It does a lot of things fairly well. For hard core fitness people it may not have enough features to justify the cost, and for the techies, it may not have enough geek factor, but for me it is just right.

Good product but materials causing skin irritation

Poor Materials, Poor Quality, Did Not Meet Expectations

Where's the fitness

By tactnuke from Chattanooga, TN, USA on 06/11/2014

Pros:

Lightweight

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I still have to wear a separate heart monitor if I want to track indoor workouts. It does fine if I walk on the treadmill. But if I go and do a class it is useless.

Great Look, but Poor Integration

By Rafitti from Atlanta, GA on 06/09/2014

Pros:

Lightweight, Durable, Bright Display

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This watch does what's expected of it well - tracks footsteps, notifications, beautiful display and sleek looks. I always receive compliments over it. However the integration was done poorly. For example - 1) You need to download the Gear Fit Manager - it's basically the expanded watch settings app. 2) S Health App - This is used to port the info from your Fit to the app. Good app, but needs improvements. Also, due to an update, a major week of activities tracked by my fit didn't port into the app, causing it to be over-written. 3) The sleep app is an additional app within the S Health ecosystem ... it's not part of S Health. That was extremely bad in my opinion. Conclusion - Samsung rushed to the market with this product and did not spend the money on R&D like they should have. Your competitor will release a smart watch and get it right the first time. Sorry, but you failed this time. (Of course you can keep updating the software and make it better, which is what's probably going to happen)

I Love the Gear Fit

By Mauk67 from North Platte, NE 69101, USA on 06/04/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight

Cons:

Battery Life

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I like new tech and am often in meetings all day. I must leave my S4 smart phone on vibrate so often, actually all day, that I sometimes miss important calls. With the Gear Fit, I can check what's going on outside the current meeting, and if needed, can quickly excuse myself to take that important call. Another benefit; I no longer pull out my cell phone to check the time. The Gear Fit is my new watch. The battery life is somewhat less than I expected but charging is easy, and battery life hasn't been a major negative. I use another device (FitBit) for fitness tracking, so rarely use the Gear Fit's fitness apps.

eh...

By chrish94 from West Palm Beach, Fl on 05/23/2014

Pros:

Durable, Bright Display, Lightweight, Realistic Color

Cons:

Very Small Display And Annoying To Read Notificati, Heart Rate Monitor Not Accurate.

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

-I was mainly interested in the watch for its heart rate monitor. However, after reading multiple reviews and testing it out myself, I have noticed that the monitor isn't all that acurate. There is no way my resting heart rate is over 85 and for some reason I get the message "unable to read" 80% of the time. Furthermore, anytime my heart rate is over 125, I never get a measurement. All the other features are decent, my favorite being the AMAZING display, just cumbersome to read your texts on such a small screen. The pedometer could use some help as well. Apperantly I walked 100+ steps while driving 30 mins to school. The built in alarm is wonderful, hard to not notice it in the morning. For the same price, I strongly suggest buying the Neo instead.

Gear Fit

By texan35 from Undisclosed on 05/19/2014

Pros:

Size, Smart Design, Lightweight, Bright Display

Cons:

Software Needs Work, Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The hardware is amazing Samsung Gear Fit is perfect for the active person. However, the software needs some work. At this moment they have changed so many of the initial launch features. It was supposed to link into S Health app so you can track all your data in one clean easy app. They also took away the auto unlock which was a great feature. Samsung you all need to include more activity types I like the three basics but I would like to set it to Cardio or Tennis so it doesn't show up as walking or running. The fitness link in the gear manager is not good enough to look at your calorie or work out data. I have faith in Samsung that they will get all the issue fixed. I just hope it doesn't take to long. I have so many products from Samsung and believe in the brand.

Unexpected acquisition!

By CentralWellnessClubs from Ft. Lauderdale on 05/19/2014

Pros:

Watch Replacement, Bright Display, Realistic Color, Long Battery Life, Durable, Lightweight, Water Resistant

Cons:

Software Needs Improvement

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I wanted to upgrade to a better fitness wrist band and decided to give the Gear Fit a go and I have no regerets ever since. I wear a suit 6 days a week and the bold, stylish look the Gear Fit has given me has basically replaced all of my 6 watches I currently own. It counts my steps and not just my steps, a lot of people say it is inaccurate, it's not, it counts your every movement and translate it to steps, then converts it to distance in miles or km and calories burned. Cool! Heart beat sensor, awesome, customizable background, very cool and the last thing I will mention is that the wrist band's amolded display, it's HD display, and comfortability is great and since it's release it has had several updates and tweaks made to the software. I am not a person to give a bad review, because of software, why? I am impressed by the way Samsung has been on point to improve the Gear Fit's software and it will continue to improve it as needed, so that makes me confident that my purchase was worth it.

Love it but temperture not accurate and battrey life

By TxBlownAway from Dallas, TX, USA on 05/19/2014

Pros:

Durable, Lightweight

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

this thing is awesome. Love it. I spend many hours on the baseball field and I wear this while on the field and at work. Very durable. Things I wished were better: The setting for the time and temp would be great for me if only the temperature was correct. Samsung guy told me they are working on fixing this. If it gets fix, I will be extremely happy. Battery life doesn't seem to last 3 days. Wish it would last longer but really that's not that big of a deal for me. The Pedometer and exercise functions are awesome as well as the stop watch and timer functions. I haven't tried the heart rate function yet but will soon. I also think getting text messages on it is very cool. No more digging my phone out of my bag or pocket. It would be nice if the price was about 50 dollars less but I purchased it anyway.

This product exceeds my expectations

Pros:

Worth The Price, Lightweight, Ingenuity, Bright Display

Cons:

Just Might Be To Expensive

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The Samsung Gear Fit really met my expectations and really surprised me with the features it offers. Down to the fitness level apps..I was really impressed at the accuracy and measurements of all aspects especially the Heart Rate app and coaching app. It's a great tool to account for your everyday living and fitness lifestyle. Not to mention, just the added features such as wallpaper, clock, sleep, emails, text messages, and social networks are some of the many advantages that the Samsung Gear fit has to offer. I can't wait for other Samsung products such as this that will continue to grow in technology! Great job in the ingenuity!!!

need to update software and have more third party apps

By Wassap from taipei, taiwan on 05/12/2014

Pros:

Realistic Color, Its Looks Sexy., Durable, Lightweight, Bright Display

Cons:

Heart Rate Monitor Sometimes In Accurate, Did Not Meet Expectations, Not Enough Third Party Apps That Work Right, Apps Did Not Meet Expectation, No Fix To The Problem As Of Yet

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I love your products, but gearfit is a little dissapointing. On paper it looks great but it lacks alot of the functionality that it claims to have. I currently own a galaxy grand 2 and the app that is used to link my gear fit to my phone is horrible. The pedometer doesnt sync correctly and i cant use gps with biking. I dont understand why you would make this exclusive samsung device and not allow all the phones to have access to all the functionality, it just doesnt make sense. I am pretty sure a software update can fix all these problems and I hope you guys are smart enough to do it. The one thing i have to say is gear fit is beautifully designed and that is why i was sold on it . It seems gearfit is selling well despite the reviews so this should make you guys want to fix the problem so more people will use it. Also can you guys try to get more 3rd party apps involved.

Works great for recording workouts but lacks app options.

By beef4288 from Seattle, WA, USA on 05/12/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight, Realistic Color, Durable

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought this device to record my running, biking, and walking exercises and easily control my music and incoming phone calls. It provides all these options with limitations. Good things: -easy to use, and setup -easily records workouts. All you do is press start and then stop. -Plays music easily, I no longer have to pull my phone out to stop/start skip music. Now I just touch my watch while exercising. -Variable display. You can setup view vertically or horizontally. You can even setup your own background. -reject calls, if you want send preload text message to caller to indicate why it was rejected. -Receive e-mails from various accounts and read most the text on the watch. -Receive calendar notifications and reminders on the watch. Bad things or wished for software improvements: -Other than it's manager program the watch only works with 1 app: Fitness with gear. Wished all the workouts recorded in Fitness with gear would automatically upload into S-health. So all I would do is select stop workout on the watch. Right now I have to select start/stop workout on both my watch and on S-Health. Very Annoying. -More display options. Be able to setup the viewed date and time in many different formats on all backgrounds: Day of the week -YYYY-MM-DD, DD-MMM, DDMMMYYYY, time hour-minute-second, etc. -The vertical options are lacking in variety. Would like to be able to view the time on one line and not over 3 lines. -Be able to change the font color to something other than white so I can have a different colored background other than dark colors. -Have an answer/end call option on the watch. I run with my headphones connected to my cell phone. If I can answer the call from my watch while running it would not have to stop my run to pull my phone.

Great Hardware and notifications

Cons:

Software Applications

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Love the design and hardware. The notifications are simple and effective. However the fitness software is not up to par and lacks any real functionality. If you use another program to track your fitness goals all is good just don't expect to use the Samsung apps with any measure of success.

So disappointed

By Dorianne from In on 05/05/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Durable, Lightweight, Realistic Color

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The display is beautiful. I love the heart rate monitor and the notifications, but I purchased this as a fitness tracker to help motivate me to move more. The step counter is way off. It counted steps when I was just laying on the couch doing nothing. I was so disappointed that it doesn't give you a total calories burned for the day, and that you have to push start on the pedometer. One more disappointment is that the Gear FIt Manager doesn't work with S Health. I returned mine. I would purchase another one if the pedometer was fixed and Samsung updates it to show total calories burned. All the other fitness trackers show total calories burned. I really hope that Samsung listens to these suggestions. I agree with the person who said that it sits up too high. Would like it a lot better if id didn't sit up so high.

Pros:

Durable, Bright Display

Cons:

Should Be About $50 Cheaper

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I didn't need the Dick Tracy/Maxwell Smart Watch. This is perfect, it's small enough and light enough yet big enough to get the job done. My only complaint is with S-Health. These items need to be fixed to make it an all in one fitness app. Interface with Facebook. Show maps of your riding/walking/running/hiking results. Set up a screen to input your diet and scan barcodes from food items. Track Calories consumed against Goal Calories. Then it would be the total package.

I love this watch. I think it's really cute and love that I don't need to wear heart rate monitor on my waist since before I was using Polar Ft4 however I wish it would just track calories like High intensity training, weight lifting ex. Jillian Michael's or insanity. It would also help if I could change font color so I can see font better. Maybe an upgrade Samsung and this device would be perfect!!!!

Good Start

By LilChicaMichelle from Copperas Cove, TX, USA on 04/22/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight

Cons:

Apps Need Upgrades

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is completely 24 hour impression of the Galaxy Fit. Personally, I love it. A little bit expensive for the application it does provide, BUT I feel because it is such a new product the upgrades and more "tweeking" can definitely can improve it! I love the design of it! It is very simple and can be adjusted to my design (background, watch faces, etc.). I enjoy that it is a minimum look and because I enjoy putting my watch on the bottom of my wrist rather than on top, it makes sense to me. It is pretty simple to set up and easy to access it. I can not wait to put it more into use for me. The only "complaint" (but it being new I am sure things will get upgraded and improved), I think the Fitness Gear app needs to be improved with better syncs. I have not been able to sync my Samsung Galaxy account for some odd reason. Mind you I only have one entry, which is fine. BUT in my "Exercise" tab, when I want to get a detailed information on my one entry, it shows as a "Link to your Samsung account" which I have tried numerous different ways and nothing changed. Now, if it just shows this screen because I do not have 2 entries, I understand but I feel it put me on a crazy goose chase. Also, is there anyway it can be programmed to other exercise apps such as RunKeeper? That would be pretty interesting. Other than that, I feel this is a great start! I can not wait for the improvements!! :D Thank you!

great fitness/smart watch but could be improved

By rtnl89 from kansas on 04/22/2014

Pros:

Lightweight, Bright Display, Battery Life

Cons:

Lack Of Exercise Options, Expensive

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I got both the galaxy s5 and fit within a few days of launch. After working in the cellular industry for over 5 years and being a big samsung fan I had high expectations. The fit is by far the best looking smart watch on the market. It is sleek and comfortable. I even forget that I have it on. The display is beautiful. I always get asked about it when wearing it. The battery life is also great. It will go 3 to 4 days on a single charge without issue. I love the notification feature. I am always sitting my phone down on a desk or table in my store and my phone is usually on low volume or vibrate. The fit insures that I never miss an important message or call when im working with a customer or helping another employee. There are a few things that can be improved. First is that the display doesn't always light up when you turn your wrist to check the time which can be embarrassing if you are trying to demo the features. Other times it lights up when you don't want it to like when you are driving or just moving in general. Another issue is that the outdoor mode in the brightness settings only stays on for a few minutes before returning to the previous setting. That can be annoying if you are outside for a walk or jog and have to constantly change back to outdoor mode to read the display clearly. The last issue I have with the fit is the lack of exercise options. There are trackers for walking, running, cycling, and hiking. But there are so many other options that could be added like basketball, tennis, general cardio and plyometrics, and many more. Luckily these issues could easily be fixed with an update from samsung and I hope they put one out soon. Overall the fit is a great buy. It is eye appealing and has practical features. (Lets face it nobody actually needs a camera on their watch.) I hope samsung puts out an update to help improve a few of the features but I am very happy with my purchase.

Cool and useful wearable

By xcutter from Seattle, WA, USA on 04/21/2014

Pros:

Lightweight, Bright Display

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Overall - I've used it for about one week, in conjunction with my old Fit Bit Flex. I really like the Samsung Gear Fit and I think it's a solid v1. There are some areas of improvements (mainly form the software perspective# and few things to fix ASAP like the pedometer #see the details below#. It works very well with my Galaxy Note 3 #Android version: kit kat#. I didn't experience any issue like device rebooting, phones incompatibility, etc.#please note I've updated the firmware of the Gear Fit as It asked, during the setup#. Form factor -I like the design but I find the case little bit thicker than it should be. However, I always keep it on even when I work out #and dance# and it doesn't bother me at all. I hope the next version of the Gear fit, will be much thinner #I'd expect 50% thinner#. Besides, I don't find the small button on the side to turn the screen on, very convenient #Samsung should redesign it#. You can set the Gear Fit to turn automatically the screen on every time you twist your arm for reading the time or notification. However, I decided to turn this feature off since it's too sensitive #if you drive, the Gear Fit will turn it on every time you use your steering wheel#. Battery life - I rate it as good since I need to recharge it every 3 days. I hate the custom adapter to the USB #required for the charging#. It seems you cannot buy another one #I'd like having one in the office and one at home - I could not find it on the Samsung web site as accessory or spare part#. Screen - absolutely fantastic. Easy to read, great colors and contrasts #I was able to use the Gear Fit even when the sun was shining#. However, I'd love to see the next version of the Gear Fir with wider screen #width considering the axes as my arm#. UI - not the best I've ever seen but I find it easy to use, it's consistent and clear. I set it up in portrait mode #rotated# so the Gear Fit it's easy to use, like a watch #I tried without rotating the screen and it's very uncomfortable to use it, in my opinion#. I can easily read email and text message #not ideal reading experience, if you setup the rotated screen mode but it's good enough - as I mentioned I hope next version of the device will come with a 15% wider screen#. Notifications - they are great and very useful - they work very well and they are not annoying. Several reviews I read on internet, complain you cannot select which app notification to enable #all or nothing#. This is not true - the software on the phone lets you select for each application, if you want to receive the notifications or not #which is really useful#. You can also decide if you like to turn the device screen on, when you receive a notification. Text messages and emails: text messages experience is good - I can easily read and reply #with pre-inserted message# to text messages. Emails are little bit more challenging to read. I like the feature that opens automatically the email on your phone. So if you cannot read or like to reply, you just select "Show on device" and the phone #I have a Galaxy Note 3# displays it on the screen right away #no need to launch the email client and look for that email again#. Please note - due to corporate Microsoft Exchange settings, you might not be able to read all the emails on your Gear Fit #however, you can still see the sender and the subject, which is enough for me#. In the future, I'd like to see the ability of choosing the notifications for each emails account I have one the phone. Currently I have my corporate emails and Hotmail. Pedometer: I have a Fit Bit and I keep using it for comparing the steps every day. Gear fit pedometer is not precise - It counts an average of 30% more step per day and is not possible to tune up, like I can with my fit bit flex. I think this is a temporary issue that will be fixed on the next software update. Definitely I'd like to be able to setup the sensitivity from my phone, and change for example, the size of my step - that would give me more accurate readings. Heart beat monitor - it works pretty well. I checked in with heat beat sensor of the machines I use to work out and the readings are similar. In exercise mode, it keeps reading the heat beat automatically. I also like that the readings are stored so you can review them for your phone #Fitness with Gear App by Samsung#. Sleeping tracker - it works well however you need to turn it on when you go to sleep. I don't fully understand why. If a device has an accelerometer and notion of the current time, it should be able to discover by itself when the user is sleeping. Fit Bit works the same #need to know when you are about to go sleeping#. Hear beat monitor should also give some clues about the sleeping. Calendar notification - probably my favorite features. I have several meetings during the day and I don't have to keep taking my phone out of the pocket to see what meeting I need to attend and where. You can snooze or dismiss it from the Gear Fit. Media controls - you can move to the previous or next song from the Gear Fit and you can also set the volume. I would like to see also the name of the current song playing and maybe the album art . I think these new feature will come on the next version of the software. Price - it's little bit pricy but it worth the extra $50 compared to the competition #the Gear Fit provides much more than any other fit bit like pedometer/wearable I've seen so far#. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS #after reading more customers' reviews#: 1# Pedometer - as I mentioned, I've been comparing the Gear Fit readings to Fit Bit's #I'm wearing both#. Gear Fit is not precise! However, the delta #30% more# is consistent and I'm sure I could fix it, if Samsung provides some fine tuning features in the next software update. I'm almost 6.1' tall and have long legs - shorter people might experience more accurate readings. 2) Device issues - I find questionable reviews when a defective device that keeps rebooting, is received and the customer has rated it as one star. You can rate one star to Samsung but you cannot rate a device if you got a broken one! 3) Phones incompatibilities - make sure to update your phone with KitKat and update the Gear Fit with the latest firmware, when prompt. I suspect majority of customers who shared bad reviews, didn't update the phone and device software. 4) Applications - I don't feel the need of having a marketplace of applications for my Gear Fit. I think Samsung provided what you really need #my two cents opinion#. I can think additional user scenarios, like blood pressure checking, that require sensors that don't exists yet. 5) Set the right expectations - It seems customers who had bought wearable in the past, have shared better reviews. All opinions count, but make sure you understand what the current generation of wearable offers. 6) Use the device first. I think you should test a device in different scenarios and make sure to test most of the features, before sharing your review :-).

Not Fully Functional

By DissapointedInGear from Eugene, OR on 04/16/2014

Pros:

Bright Display, Lightweight, Realistic Color

Cons:

Did Not Meet Expectations, Non-existent Syncing, Bad Apps (there Are 3 That You Have To Use), Not Ready For The Public

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I'll start off by saying that I am a big samsung fan. I have an S4 and the Note 10.1 2014 edition. But I do not like the gear fit. I've had this product since the launch date, and I totally love the design and concept of a fitness band/smart watch combination. I was super excited to have one product that fit all of my wearable tech needs. However, this band had one glaring error: it does not sync properly, as advertised, with S Health. It syncs with Fitness with Gear, a virtually useless app that does nothing more than display the data that can be seen on the Gear Fit. No editing, no comparing with calorie intake, just viewing. And none of this data gets incorporated into S Health. So, your food tracking and fitness information from the Gear will not be in the same app at all. This is very fruatrating. I am seriously considering returning the Gear Fit to puchase a less fancy and less feature-rich device that I know will work the way it is supposed to.

Awesome!

By Nighthawk06 from Undisclosed on 04/15/2014

Pros:

Lightweight, Durable, Bright Display

Cons:

Need To Be Able To Track Weight Lifting.

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have owned a fitbit, and a Nike fuel band and they were good, but no comparison. This gear fit is awesome. It works incredibly and syncs so smoothly with my s4. I hope to see more options for fitness tracking, perhaps an ability to log weight lifting as well. Also can't wait to be able to buy interchangeable straps. Keep up the good work Samsung! Never disappointed with your products.

By Anonymous from Chicago, IL, USA on 04/15/2014

Pros:

Built-in Speakers, Durable, Vertical Display, Lightweight, Bright Display

Cons:

No Internal Memory, Not Enough Colors

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Woman love to be fit but whats one of the main things they look do when working out. They listen to music to drown the world out and they want to look good doing it. They dont care what people think when theyre working out but they do care about how they see themselves. They Gear Fit is one of the best devices that that has been created but like everything else it would be considered flawed. Unlike the Gear 2 and the Gear Neo, the Gear Fit doesnt have internal memory so the next best thing (No pun intended) would be The Neo. Women didnt want the first gear because it seemed to manly or bulky, but when you give them some thats sexy and appealing, it wont keep the blood flowing or jamming pace to a constant rhythm keep it going. Re-release the Gear Fit as a set add internal memory, Bluetooth headphones and more colored bands
