Not compatible with both Mac and PC

By cdc from Long Beach, CA on 08/22/2008

Cons:

Difficult To Use, Unreliable, Difficult To Setup, Difficult To Set Up

Describe Yourself:

Power User

Pros:

Portable, High Capacity

Best Uses:

Boat Anchor, Fish Lure

Primary use:

Business

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This drive is TOTALLY worthless and dangerous for multi format usage. The STUPID PC driver software that comes with it does not work between my Mac and PC. Data and drive names don't show up between PC and Mac. Constantly asks for reformatting. Worthless and not safe! The 2 gig PNY Attache data sticks I currently use have worked great for years between my Mac OSX and PC running XP. I well stay with them. I got this Sandisk drive as a gift and will give it to somebody that only is on one platform. Why anyone would make a drive that only works on one platform seems dumb!

So far this has been a great device. I recently had the 4GB version of the Titanium Cruzer die on me, so I purchased the 8GB model. I like the heavy titanium metal it is made with; feels much better than cheap plastic. The device comes with included U3 software which allows the device to have password protection, and you can install programs directly to the device. As nice as that is, I still prefer to format the drive. (formatted space is 7.47GB) This makes it open much quicker, and the program doesn't have to load each time you plug it into a new computer. FYI Sandisk tech support sucks. Took me over 2 weeks just to get an RMA setup so I could send my failed USB drive back to them. So if you buy this, just hope it doesn't fail! (five year warranty is excellent though.)
