This is my first MP3 player so I cannot personally compare it's performance to iPod or other brands. After reading extensive customer reviews I decided on the Sansa over the iPod Nano because of the FM receiver and ability to play videos as well as twice the capacity for the same price. I chose the newly released 8gb model so that I could load enough music to listen for several days without having to reload as often. I have hundreds of old LP's from the 70's, many of which were never released on CD. I'm in the process of burning them to CD as a backup and then ripping to wma files, using Windows Media Player to synch to the Sansa. I've found the performance so far to be quite good. I got about 1400 songs on the Sansa before filling it up. I have not had the problems of the unit locking up that some other reviewers reported but I've noticed that it does seem to work better if you don't fill it completely up. The included earbuds seem to work fine but I prefer headphones and wanted a better sound quality so I purchased a set of Sennheizer PX-100 folding headphones. Wow! They really make a difference in the sound quality. I've tried the FM receiver and it seems to work pretty good. I haven't yet tried the included software for converting and loading video and photos since I purchased the unit primarily for music. My only complaints are the same that other users have had, a lack of available accessories and having to recharge through the computer usb cable but I'm sure as this model grows in popularity, accessories will start to show up in stores. I found the unit easy to use with excellent sound quality, especially with the upgraded headphones. I would highly recommend the Sansa.
