Product is very disapointing

By loyalswannuser from australia on 11/06/2013

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I have a few swann dome cameras, that perform to my expectations. The "ultimate" zoom, with variable focus, led me to think it would have control from the monitoring software, like my other dome cameras. This camera has: NO pan control, (only manually adjustable by removing the dome cover) NO electronic zoom, (only manually adjustable by removing the dome cover) NO electronic focus, (only manually adjustable by removing the dome cover) Further to my disappointment at this camera having no electronic control, the manual focus wont adjust enough to make the image sharp, Im left with a soft focus ghostly image of the view area. This is a very poor camera, and I feel misled by the sales hype.

High Resolution. No OSD/remote control of zoom or focus.

Read the specs and box carefully. "Adjustable focus and 4x Zoom"- "remotely adjust camera settings"... "control the video images with the on-screen display" (OSD). Note that the OSD DOES NOT adjust focus or zoom. Focus and Zoom are manually adjusted inside, under the dome: "Adjusting Focus and Zoom To access the zoom and focus, remove the dome cover. To open the dome cover, use the included star-key tool. Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to turn the now exposed control rods. The zoom is located on the top left, and focus on the lower right. Be sure to securely replace the dome cover after adjusting the positioning of the camera, or the zoom and focus: otherwise the camera will no longer be weather-proof. If you want remote control of zoom/focus - select another camera. I needed remote zoom so will be returning my camera.
