I have used the DVR 650 so far mainly as a QAM tuner to receive "In the Clear" HDTV channels for my home theater projector. It receives all the network "in the clear channels" as well as dozens of music (audio only) channels for free from my cable provider. These functions are working great so far. [...] Thanks.

DVR 650

The prerecoreded DVD picture quality is very good. However, the DVDs recorded on the Toshiba when played back do not have as high a resolution as I expected. Moreover, it is difficult to figure out how to be able to re-record discs on a RW DVD from the enclosed Toshiba instructions. Also somewhat disappointed there was no HTML cable included with DVD - definitely worth purchasing one separately as the picture quality is far superior to using the enclosed RCA conectors.

convenient machine

By RI Grimace Verified Purchaser from Hope Valley, RI on 07/24/2007

Cons:

Timer Record Is Tedious, Remote Is Too Sensitive

Describe Yourself:

Couch Potato

Pros:

Attractive Design

Best Uses:

Home, Make Dvds From Old Tapes

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Timer record always defaults to DVD mode, so to use a VHS tape you need to select each item in the record setup. I wish it would leave it in the previous mode so you could just enter the time/date info and just toggle through the rest of the menu.
