Great Laptop!

By animaura from Arcata, CA on 09/28/2009

My very first laptop was a Toshiba and I am glad that it was. I had 3 excellent years with that laptop and to this day it is working very well. It has been passed down to my family and I bought a new laptop for school. When I first told myself I was going to buy a new laptop, I knew it had to be a Toshiba, not just because I trust this brand, but also because I had heard and experienced first-hand how unreliable HP or Dell can be - at least for my purposes. I'm sorry but I just didn't want a laptop whose fan fails after only a couple months or whose power cord fails in no more than a year. This is only my second Toshiba laptop, but already I can tell it's going to be a great one just like my last one. The only problems I have had is just some slight problems with the operating system, but that is to be expected, given Windows Vista's instability. I am hoping these minor problems are solved with Windows 7 which I plan to upgrade to. As far as the Toshiba hardware and software, it is flawless. I really enjoy having Toshiba's Sleep and Charge - charging my mp3 player without having the computer on has been pretty cool. Another useful utility is the Toshiba eco utility, which really does save energy. As a student I don't need much power to run a simple word processor/text editor so it is a great utility to have. I can go through an entire 2 hour lecture and still have at least 30-45 minutes of battery life leftover, which is plenty for me. At times when I need more processing power, I can still squeeze nearly 2 hours of battery life with a full charge. To me, that is pretty good considering the power-hungry OS Vista that is installed on this laptop. One final point I'd like to make is that I love the design of this laptop - the LED lights, the fusion finish, the color, and the screen size is just perfect - 14 inches was a good choice. :) I would (and have) definitely recommend this laptop - or any other Toshiba product - to anyone who is looking for a great, reliable product.

Good design and good performance. Bad for games

By edderp from Bogot, Colombia on 09/24/2009

This Laptop has many advantages starting by its design in a cool black color, the lines across its surface and the elegant touchpad almost integrated with the rest of the design. Next, we have the internal part, equiped with a 4 gb memory (which give it the power needed) and the powerfull processor which have the best benefit for its price. This laptop it's not all good. It's faults starts with the video memory which is shared and it is amolst unnoticed. You will realize that this is not a Game machine. In general it's good for many of the functions that you will execute, but only if it is plugged to the electrical cord, beacause with the eco mode it turns very slow.
