Excellent Ultrabook

By John from Undisclosed on 03/23/2013

Thin ... Light ... Fast. Very pleased so far. No problems. I ordered mine with Windows 7 Professional and a 128 SSD.

Great ultrabook

By techie from Wlliamsburg, VA on 02/19/2013

I'm very pleased with the purchase of this Toshiba Z930 Ultrabook. I think the screen is very clear and crisp and has very good color, it seems more crisp than my 15.4 Satellite. The thinness and compactness and light weight, and security features are the reason I purchased this, to take when I travel. The power brick is very small; someone commented in another review of a wish for a small power brick and this is about 1/2 the size of my Satellite power piece. The battery life does not seem quite as high as the specs but still very good. The tools loaded on the ultrabook are really good and I'm pleased with them. The speed of the SSD drive is superb. The backlit keyboard is excellent and works well, all keys. The keyboard works well on mine also. The touchpad is fine, but I have been using a Bluetooth mouse which I prefer, which was easily installed. My internet connection was also easily installed. I have activated the anti theft feature and this also is a feature that appealed to me; I am still trying to find an appropriate software package that will allow me to use the TPM module, the trusted platform module, which allows more security of the ultrabook. The ports are placed in the back except for one usb port and that is fine with me, it works well. It does meet my expectations for an ultrabook and I would recommend it to those looking for a high end ultrabook.

Over all - it's great

By blue2012 from centreville, va on 12/02/2012

Got two of this. Light, Fast and steady. No problem with any hardware. Upgraded to windows 8 Pro (clean install), Toshiba made very easy to install the drivers via Toshiba Upgrade Assistant -one download take cares of all drivers. Toshiba could make the screen quality better. Toshiba made it difficult to upgrade the memory, but finally I was able to upgrade it - now I have 6GB total. Using it heavily, 9/10 hours in high tech environment with 24 2nd monitor. It is keeping up with the load nicely and working flawlessly.

Lightweight, quite usable really

By Vadim from San Jose, CA on 11/06/2012

I have done a good deal of research planning to buy an ultrabook this fall (2012). This model is somewhat unique as it packs a lot in a chassis that amazes everyone who get to test its weight: - upgradable RAM and upgradable SSD - full-sized VGA, HDMI and Ethernet ports (no dongles to loose) - matte LCD (on corporate z930 models; consumer z935 come with a glossy LCD I believe) - excellent Synaptics touchpad with plenty of settings and good sensitivity - keyboard that has dedicated Home, End, PgUp and PgDn keys - SD card reader that does not have the card sticking outside of the chassis - separate audio-out and mic-in jacks (all my Skype headsets are like that) - good driver support with most of them updated for Windows 8 Onthe downside, there is only one USB 3.0 port (the other two are USB 2.0), while some competing brands have up to 3 USB 3.0 ports. Also, I saw many reviewers complaining about the keyboard and especially the space bar. I am not a fast typist myself and do not see many space bar presses not getting registered. I actually decided not to correct any such instances for this review and can see it happened only once at the beginning of this paragraph. Z930/935 also got a sturdier LCD back cover, than its predecessor Z830/835. I have had this ultrabook for over a months now, 3 days since upgrading it to Windows 8. Keep liking it so far.

Destroying the Toshiba Laptop Brand!

By Trains from Los Angeles CA on 11/01/2012

Mostly a good machine, but I will return it, and this is the last Toshiba I will ever buy: 1] Spacebar doesn't work. You can press, get tactile feeddback, 20 times in a row, and no space. Sent the first one back, second just the same. Product defect. 2] Advertised 128 GB SSD. Delivered with 101 GB usable. Second unit just the same. Not a word about it in the product literature. 3] Base unit actually bends to a warped position, sits on three corners, fourth corner in the air, wobbles on the table. 4] After all these years, mousepad still unstable.
