The GOOD: I am very happy about this laptop. It is very fast. I maxed out the options and upgraded the hard drive to an OCZ 512GB Vertex 4 SSD because I needed more space. This thing can restart windows7 in a flash. It is ridiculous how much faster it is than my old 1st gen quad-core HP. The battery will last me about 5 hours. I am sure you could get more if you turned the screen brightness all the way down and just played music off the hard drive or something. This is very light compared to my old 15 HP with extended battery. So much so, that I thought it was going to come out of my hands the first few times I picked it up. I love that it has all the options: hdmi, vga, dvd optical drive, sd card reader, webcam, ethernet port, and even the dock connection (although I wont use that one). The BAD: No backlit keyboard. This is absurd. Even the thinner Toshibas have a backlit keyboard. The speakers are terrible. I mean worse than most smaller ultrabooks. The SRS Premium Sound panel is very helpful, but I would have happily added a little more weight and size to have better speakers. The keyboard takes a bit to get used to, but it is not a big deal. The keys feel a little different and don't have as much throw as I am used to, but I will happily take that if it means a smaller and lighter laptop. It would be nice if the touchpad were bigger with integrated buttons like my HP was. I also wish it ware a little thinner and sleeker. Yes Toshiba has done a great job, but compared to the macbook pros, it leaves a lot to be desired. I am as far from an Apple fanboy as it gets, but I have to say, their hardware is impressive. Why can't a pc be as nice as that?
