Works in extreme environment...

By Krish B. from Undisclosed on 09/05/2013

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Bought Summer 2011 for use in Jamaica where power is 120v 50Hz. It adjust to 50Hz with no obvious effort. 1KW/hour here cost roughly $0.50 and is very unreliable. Never a week without an outage or major brownout. It powers internet devices and workstations as I work remotely to the USA. Its power consumption once charged is 20W and its normal load for modem, router, 16 port switch, small PBX and 5 phones is about 60w and will keep these alive for nearly 4 hours in temperatures of 80 to 95F and never complains. I test its rnning time every few months for battery life concern at these temperatures. A/C is too expensive to run, cooling is a ceiling fan. Only concern in small office was fan noise level, so I replaced it with lower CFM since purchased and never more than 50% load.

Fans are too noisy

By JPond from Undisclosed on 09/05/2013

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Bought this over the net and when I fired it up was shocked at how noisy the fans are. Check the specs and they indicate that the fan noise is in the area of 45dB. I tested with my noise meter at the front of the UPS with the back pointed at the wall and I measure in the 54 - 59 dB range. Would be ok in a server room but not in an office or home environment.

Very noisy fans

By Martin from Undisclosed on 09/01/2013

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The unit works great, cheap for a Online/double-conversion unit, needed it to protect my SSD. But the fans are far too noisy. If I had known about it, I would have not gotten it. Ordered it over the net.

At our sawmill, we have a lot of peak on the voltage line. We are also scared of lightning flashes. Computer have random problems because of theses reasons. An UPS from Tripp-Litte like this one solve all of theses problems. Small, quiet, efficient, this what we need! Excellent products!
