Cybershot

By Lacey from Northern wi on 09/17/2012

Pros:

Great Pictures

Cons:

Do Not Last

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We have bought 3 Sony Cybershot cameras, ranging from $200+ down to $90 and none of them have lasted more than a year. Very disappointed as I love the quality of the pictures, but having repairs quoted in ALL 3 of over $250, it's all a bit ridiculous. Will be buying a Nikon or Canon.

great pocket camera

By bigI4 from Undisclosed on 08/24/2012

Pros:

Great Quality Pictures, High Mega Pixels

Cons:

Gets Dirty Fast

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The first thing is that this camera is probably the best pocket camera in the world! It also does really good video! It really works for just events that pop up. I got some pictures of some deer in the newspaper because of this camera! The only thing is that if you like to keep your things clean this camera will drive you CRAZY!! Because it gets dirty fast.

Good camera

By murfanator from GA on 08/12/2012

Pros:

Colors, Good Image Quality, Easy To Use

Cons:

No Soft Skin Mode, Burst Mode Is Slow

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I reccomended this camera to my sister. She wanted a good camera that came in a variety of colors. She got what she was hoping for. The pics are good quality, smile shutter is very handy, and she loves to take lots of video. You have to set up the zoom before you start the video- it cant zoom in while taking a video. The sweep panoramas are also very cool and are great for landscapes. There are a few cons, and this is not a sport camera. But it does the job and i reccomend it to begginers.

Very Disappointed

By Shocked from Southern New Jersey on 07/25/2012

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This camera is a big disappointment. First indication was the very flimsy battery/memory card door/cover. There is no display mode for date/time even though this info must be entered on start-up (has to be entered later). No adjustment for resolution, and not even a 2G memory card was included. I returned the item. I guess that's what you get for $109.00. I'll look for a better model.

Good camera for price

By MWPart from Springfield, Mo on 07/03/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have bad hand tremors and camera still focuses when I use steady shot feature. My only complaint is the poor perspective imaging in wide angle mode. That issue can be corrected in photoshop. I definately see a new sony in my future.

Good but not GREAT

By M4tchb0X from Singapore on 06/23/2012

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Got this as a birthday gift, pictures take were out of this world, color and depth were amazing, auto-mode was simply idiot proof, just point and shoot. When you try to fidget around to use the other manual features, they aren't around, like setting the F number or shuttle speed, very sad. Well, for it's price, I can't think of a better model than this for beginners.

Amazing Photos!

By Anonymous from Undisclosed on 04/25/2012

As an avid photographer and a beginning youtube movie-maker, I love this camera. It autofocuses to what I want (either macro or just regular pics). Also, it has reasonable night photos, which is rare in point and shoot cameras. During video, it focuses DURING the video so that the once-in-a-lifetime clip will not be awkwardly out of focus. Overall, this is a must-get. An extra battery is nice for hiking trips or other itineraries that have no access to charging capabilities. Love this camera.

Great buy!

By Greencrew from Palo alto, CA on 04/25/2012

I bought this camera in store yesterday and have been playing with it all day. Picture quality is better than I expected from a 14.1 mp. Only 4x zoom and not a touch screen which would make it easier to navigate. Overall, your getting what you pay for and some. Pictures look great.

THIS CAMERA NEEDS RECALLED

By ThatDaltonGuy from Lafferty, OH on 01/12/2012

I have been a Sony fan for years now, and when I bought this camera I was elated! I was so happy with the picture quality and size of the camera. I have had the camera for about two years now AND IT IS ALREADY DEAD!! I babied this camera, I never dropped it, never got it wet, never did anything wrong and it JUST STOPPED WORKING! It does not display anything on the viewfinder when in use. Before it stopped working all together, the images appeared purple and nasty. Then it stopped alltogether. SONY, IF YOU HAVE ANY SENSE AND COMPASSION, YOU WILL RECALL THIS CAMERA!! I AM GETTING MY MONEY BACK!!

Can't recharge battery from USB

By rechargeUSB from Undisclosed on 12/19/2011

This camera has a lot of great features and takes great pictures. For me, it has ahuge flaw that I can't get past. I can't recharge the battery via USB as I'm transferring pictures to my computer. I'm so disapointed by this shortcoming that I'm going to sell the camera and buy one that can recharge the battery via USB.

Didn't last a year with out major problem

By mynana from Undisclosed on 12/17/2011

I liked the camera for about 10 months. I don't like it now and will need to buy a new camera as the screen shows as blank white on the left half and about 1/3 of the bottom of the screen. Very hard to take pictures when you can't see what is in the frame. I talked with Sony and there isn't a known problem with the camera at this time. I believe that I would have to pay for service for a camera that has been taken excellent care of and is less than a year old.

Not happy

By sterncastlemc from Undisclosed on 12/14/2011

I ordered this camera and was very pleased with the look of the camera.. I turned the camera on started taking pictures the button worked only about half the time... I took a picture had to turn it off and then turn it back on and this was EVERYTIME! I called Sony they wanted me to send the camera back but the customer service I was less than pleased with.. Maybe I would have a return shipping label in 24hrs in my email and then maybe I would have the camera back before Christmas which was the whole reason I ordered it... I wouldnt recomend a Sony camera this is my second one and the quality of it just isnt there

DSC W370

By JeromeX from NY on 12/01/2011

I got this camera at NYC store, brand new... The camera just do not work properly since the very beggining... I love trains and this camera cannot capture any quality sound from the enviroment, even wind brakes the sound recording on video... I had had the send this to repair and the camera came back having the same issue... Camera is always looking for focus on video, so the images are not clear all the time... This is not a good product to me... I am totally dissapointed, I have had Sony devices for years FBH sound systems, Trinitron TVs, Dream machines, Betamax, Hi8s Attrac 3 MP3s, but this one makes me think that I will select a different brand next time...

Great camera, great price!!

By SHERvillan from Winnipeg, CANADA on 10/19/2011

After 5 years with the same camera, I was in desperate need for an upgrade. Let me start by saying that while researching to get a new camera, I knew that I didn't want to spend an "arm and a leg" on my new camera because - let's face it, I will be the first to admit that I am not the greatest at taking great care of my camera - meaning, I have dropped my previous camera multiple times, I have a 3-year-old son who thinks he is a photographer and he also thinks every electronic device is a toy. I thought that I wanted a Canon for my camera upgrade because my sister has one and it never failed to take immaculate pictures, but the price point for the Canon i wanted was a little too pricey, and with the possibility of my son pressing one too many buttons or me dropping it, I wasn't about to spend that much. With plenty of research and back-and-fourth testing between canons and sony cybershots, this camera definitly lured me in with its great price and ability to take fantastic images and I must say this was definitly a great investment! PROS: Great price, awesome 3.0 LCD screen, 14.1 MP allows you to enlarge photos and have them still looking great (and not "pixely"), the flash is in a great spot therefore it brightens up the picture in all the right places, sleek design, HD video, fast processing time - meaning the wait time between shots are slim to none (whereas the W570 16.2 MP had a longer waiting time), easy to use, very user-friendly! CONS: No black&white/sepia feature, but can easily be fixed on a computer or at the photo kiosk when printing photos. Overall, a great gadget with a great price!! Definitly reccomend!!

Okay Camera

By syousuf from Undisclosed on 09/17/2011

Pros:

Good Macro Shots, Good Outside Shots

I bought this camera about 15 months ago. It was giving me amazing outdoor pictures and great macro shots. Then 3 months ago, this strange blue line has been appearing on ALL of my pictures - more on darker ones and less apparent on lighter pics. It's showing on videos too :-( I called customer service, but since this problem started after my 1 year manufacture warrenty, I would have to pay $91 for servicing it...might as well buy a new camera. Not sure what the problem is, but it was good while it lasted :-/

Disappointing

By TravisD from Boston, MA on 09/02/2011

Pros:

The Panorama Feature Is Nice.

Cons:

Pictures Distorted; Slow To Work; Mechanically Poor

This camera has been really disappointing and totally not worth it. Almost all of the pictures come out distorted as if I had a fishbowl lens on it - really sad to have everyone's face twisted or scenery ruined. It takes way too long (up to ten seconds) to turn on or off once I press the on/off button. The second time I opened the battery compartment, it no longer closed and the door gets caught on the case all the time. The panorama feature has been fun, but overall this product was a huge headache. I would not suggest buying it.

Nice, compact snapshot camera

By NikoB from florida on 08/06/2011

Pros:

Easy To Use, Compact, Decent Photo Quality

Cons:

Not A Lot Of Advanced Features

I bought this for my lady today and I am pretty pleased with it. It is a nice looking camera, good lens, image quality is decent, and enough features to handle her everyday snapshots without confusing her. There are not many advanced features like what you find on the new, more expensive models but that's to be expected. Even the advanced features that it does have, like movie recording and sweep panorama are watered down versions of what more advanced cameras have. Also, it not a very quick camera, slow to actually snap the photo and then a few seconds of processing. But it has a Zeiss lens, good resolution, image stabler, and decent enough control over camera settings to handle most situations. (like exposure compensation). I think for the money, it's a great buy. I know my lady will love it.

Horrible Sony

By GoRam from New York on 08/04/2011

Pros:

The Camera Is Good

Cons:

Sony Is Bad

I bought a refurbished camera under the impression that Sony would make sure to at least check damage if any on the camera. I got the camera with scratches on it and a big clearance between the LCD screen and the surrounding body. Beware before purchasing a refurbished product from Sony

horrible!!!

By sisnky from erlanger, ky on 06/27/2011

Pros:

Slim Design

Cons:

Extremely Slow Shutter, Forget Taking Pictures In Anything But Bright Light

i am SO disappointed with this camera!!! i wanted to upgrade my 5 megapixel canon camera for a slimmer design. i had done a lot of research and asked for opinions and felt confident in buying this sony camera. IT IS HORRIBLE!!! the shutter is painfully slow... i mis good shots all the time, people hate posing for pics because it takes FOREVER, even in daylight. FORGET about trying to take any kinda of picture in low light. i also think the picture quality and color is extremely poor compared to my old canon. also, as a side note, i attemped to buy and extra lithium ion battery for the camera. i bought a non-sony brand battery and i couldn't believe it when i put the battery in and the camera had an error message that said the battery wasn't compatible withthe camera... and i got this message while i was at a concert!!!! i was furious!!! it's unconscionable that sony would "block" people from using other brands of batteries so that they can charge 10x's the amount!!! i will NEVER NEVER NEVER buy another sony camera!

Really Nice Camera

By Denali from Omaha, NE on 05/14/2011

Pros:

A Lot

Cons:

Can't Zoom While Taking Video

I really like this camera. It works really well! I love how clear the pictures are. Not many of my pictures came out blurry. I like have they have a small feature where you can cut the picture on the camera without having to do it on the computer. Red Eye Remover is nice, too. I would definetly recommend this camera. I have the Sony Cybershot DSC-P200 and it's still working with really nice pictures. Still good quality, but I thought that I should get a new camera considering that the P200 is almost 6 years old. I love this camera!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bring it with me everywhere and it fits in almost any camera bag and really cheap SD cards will work in it fine. It's very easy to use. I didn't read the instruction manual and i found out how to use it very easily. It's design is super nice and it's very light. The LCD is really big and it's very easy to take pictures.

VERY upset about my purchase.

By hadtowrite from VA on 04/15/2011

The camera takes HORRIBLE pictures. They are ALL blurry. When I looked online to see if anyone else had a problem like this, I was shocked to see that this camera is suppose to take "steady shot" photos - it does not. If you don't keep your hand PERFECTLY stiff, your pictures will all be ruined. I feel like having this camera is absolutely pointless since none of my pictures come out well and my friends/family and I have to re-take a picture about three times to finally get a decent shot.

Best Camera for its Price

By Crichton55 from Uncharted Territories on 04/14/2011

Pros:

Mp Rating Is Amazing, Takes Flawless Pictures, Too Many Things To Count.

Cons:

The Sweep Panorama Feature Isn't Fond Of A Subject's Movements, Although That's Not So Unusual. 4x Zoom Is Not Enough.

Honestly, this is the best camera I have ever owned. Nothing at all went from as far as malfunctions are concerned. I had it for only a couple of months and I absolutely loved it. There are only three things I do not like. Sweep panorama needs to have whatever it's capturing to be still and not moving around, though for landscapes that isn't a concern. Four times optical zoom isn't quite enough, but it gets the job done. And finally, my biggest complaint is that there is no lost or stolen replacement plan of any sort, or at least none that I have been informed of. I got this camera for Christmas after wanting one for three years, and it got stolen within three months. Nevertheless, this is an amazing camera and definitely worth $150 and an extra $20-30 for an SD card.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA!

By BaseballDad from Cape Coral, FL on 04/04/2011

Pros:

Great Looking Camera, Great Size, Compact

Cons:

Blurry...blurry...blurry...slow...slow...slooooow!!!

I retired a DSC-W100 (which I had purchased when the W100 was "cutting edge") a few years ago. The W100 was a dream camera, I dropped it a million times, it kept taking amazing photos, crushed it, kept taking amazing photos, splashed it, kept taking amazing photos. Alas, it finally quit but I was more than satisfied with it's performance. I figured, how far could Sony depart from this ultra-dependable powerhouse? I'm safe buying Sony again, right? WRONG!!! My DSC-W330 has never been dropped, scratched, sneezed on...heck it hasn't even been rubbed vigirously...the camera is pure JUNK! I can rest the camera on a table top and it delivers the little "hey stop moving" symbol no matter what the setting configuration. I've literally stood there, people waiting to be photographed, for 1-2 minutes while this camera tried to focus on the scene...you have NO idea how frustrating this is. I'm technologically savvy and figured my settings were off...nope...this camera is just horrible. If you EVER think your going to snap a photo of anything that's moving with this camera, don't buy it. This camera CONSISTENTLY delivers BLURRY photos. READ THE REVIEWS, I DID BUT I IGNORED THEM, THIS CAMERA IS JUNK!! By the way, this is the second review I've ever written in my life and I'm 36, I'm THAT disgusted by this waste of money I'm toting around and would only buy a Sony camera, heck ANY Sony product at this point, in the future if Sony gave me a full refund for this piece of garbage. I am SO upset by this purchase you have no idea.

DSCH55 Refurbished

By AbeAbro from Houston on 04/04/2011

Pros:

Fast Delivery

Cons:

Poor Packaging, Not Tested

I ordered this refurbished one from from Sony online. The delivery was fast. But I really disappointed on the quality of refurbished one. The camera didnt start. I charged the battery for 5 hrs and still the camera didnt start. About packing, they use a type of gum on a cardboard sheet and stick camera to the gum. When pulled out from the package the gum leaves stains on the camera also due to poor handling there were scratch on camera and packaging. I have called Sony about the camera issue and they are sending me a new battery. But I am going to return as I am not happy with the first time exp of Sony refurbished. I really doubt if any quality check has been done prior to shipping.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA!

By BaseballDad from Cape Coral, FL on 04/04/2011

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Garbage

By sitgarath from Boulder, CO on 04/03/2011

Pros:

?

Cons:

Everything

this camera is garbage. takes very poor pictures in 'easy' mode. totally counter intuitive controls. the adjustments to compensate for the horrific factory defaults are not adequate to take even quick snapshot type photos. combine that with the need to buy Sony's proprietary memo card and this camera is a big loss. save yourself some time and buy something else

H-55 Awful photos and apparently no way to fix

By Atlantan from Atlanta on 03/29/2011

Pros:

Good Zoom And Wide Angle

Cons:

Washed Out Photos/poor Color

I bought this camera for a trip to Ecuador. I have an earlier version CyberShot that I love but wanted something smaller. I am extremely disappointed. ALL the photos, no matter what setting, are washed out. Flash is much too bright with poor results and awful color. I contacted Sony help line and followed all their suggestions, including resetting camera to factory settings. Nothing has worked. Sony refuses to replace the camera with a different model.

Excellent camera for the money

By Enthusiast from Atlanta and the world on 03/17/2011

Pros:

And Sony Reputation, Great Picutre Quality And Zoom, Ease Of Use, Low Light

I am a photo enthusiast and have owned several pro SLRS. I have had this camera for 8 months and it delivers great quality in low light indoor settings. Different shooting modes offer great versatility and vivid colors. Easy to use (my children are now taking great photos with it ). I have owned more than 5 good compact digital cameras and this is the best. I compared it to the Panasonic Lumix Zs7, which also offers a manual mode, but still like this camera better. Sold the Panasonic.

Excellent Purchase

By afwife87 from North Las Vegas, NV on 03/13/2011

Pros:

Lightweight, Compact, Great Quality Photos

Cons:

None So Far

The last digital camera I purchased was in fall of 2005. I used that Kodak for many years, but was disappointed at how quickly the AAs would run out, and how simple the software was at editing. I wanted to buy a new digital camera and so started reading many reviews. I looked at the w370 and w330 but noticed many negative aspects- this w350 seemed to be the midgrade and I got an excellent deal on the price and extra memory chip. So far I have been very impressed with the overall quality of the images and clarity the extra megapixels provides (my old camera was 5.1 mp, this one is a whopping 14mp). I am going on vacation to Cancun next month and am looking forward to seeing how the images will turn. It definitely helps that the camera itself is so lightweight and tiny. It's perfect for stashing someplace inconspicuous and fits in my husband's pockets easily. Great investment. Cannot comment on the reliability so far since it's new, but am very positive!

Do NOT buy this camera

By witchiepoo from Michigan on 03/07/2011

I bought this camera after the salesman raved and raved about it thinking that I was getting something wonderful. How disappointed was I when I finally started using it. The actual user features at first appear to be very limited but as you get deeper and deeper into the menu there is more to offer. Even with all these options I was still not happy with the final results. The camera was very unresponsive to what I wanted it to do. It would focus in perfect, only to go out of focus immediately before it would snap the pic. Low light?? You might as well draw yourself a memory of the moment because this camera will not capture it for you. Movement?? Hope you like picutes of blurs... I've seen some reviews that people say this camera is the best they've ever used so I have to wonder if I've gotten a lemon of the bunch. Maybe it's just my camera thats defective. I don't see anything about this camera that is worth the $149 I paid for it or equal to half of the raves the salesman had. I've never been so disappointed in a Sony product as I am with this one. I don't know how yet, but I am going to get my money back one way or another. Do yourself a favor and get a Cannon or Nikon.

Very uncomplicated...

By canative1938 from San Jacinto, CA on 02/24/2011

Pros:

Good Eye Appeal, Compact, Very Well Constructed

Cons:

Slow Shutter Capture Time

Haven't used enough yet to find out just "how" good or bad this camera is. If the other reviews I've read are anywhere close to accurate...then, I will be very disappointed for a second time with a Sony Point & Shoot camera. The first was a DSC-H2; picture quality was great. That said the operation of the camera was way too complicated. And for a P&S at that time I paid nearly $500.00. Gave it to my granddaughter... Oh well.

Pros:

Cons:

I have had this camera for about a few weeks now and have been toying around with it to learn as much as I can. The zoom is great, the resolution is amazing. The intelligent auto is superb and tells you whatever scene that is applicable at the time the pivture is taken. I just tried the sweep panorama and I have to say that I was extremely impressed. This camera is also very very simple to operate. Thank you Sony!

Not too bad camera...that is if it doesn't give up

By wannabiewaniewan from Undisclosed on 02/08/2011

Pros:

Nice Sharp Images When Used With Flash, Panorama, Alright Images When No Flash, Excellent Video Mode

Cons:

Battery Runs Fast, My Camera Is Broken, The Camera Is Broken, Panorama Is A Little Grainy

I bought the camera in September last year, and it worked perfectly fine until about December when the lens stopped communicating with the camera. As in, I would have to try to physically twist the camera to get it to even produce an image, and it wouldn't even stay there for a while. Before it broke I used the camera almost everyday, it IS a point-and-shoot camera so I didn't expect much functions wise, but I wish there was a little more.

LOVE THIS CAMERA!

By wildbluemontana from Mission Valley, Montana on 02/02/2011

Pros:

Everything!

Cons:

Nothing I Can Think Of

I bought this camera nearly a year ago and absolutely LOVE it! I thought about models with higher zoom and/or more features, but ultimately bought this one and have been so happy with my decision. It's beautiful (RED), small, so easy to use, and it takes great photos. I set it on the 5 megapixel 4:3 setting most of the time (who needs memory-grabbing 14 megapixel photos?) and on the 2 megapixel setting for panoramic shots. I have more than 1200 photos on a 2GB card and it's not full yet! This camera replaced my old Sony Mavica (still works great!) that recorded on floppy disks, so it's a huge improvement and I couldn't be happier!

Really good camera

By theCoop from Blanco, TX on 02/02/2011

Pros:

Battery Life Is Very Good., Easy To Use, Easy To Understand, Excellent Videos Are A Bonus, Great Pictures

Cons:

User Manual Takes A Little Getting Used To

In response to others' comments about low-light seeming grainy on the display: If you take advantage of the ability preset the white balance, this problem goes away. Doing this also improves the quality of the image as actually stored on the memory card. All-in-all, as an upgrade from my previous digital camera, this is really good. Because its features are so accessible and flexible, it has encouraged me to learn more about taking good pictures, and the results are very rewarding.

Okay Buy

By Meeshellers from Marquette, MI on 01/25/2011

Pros:

Pictures Are Amazing, Feautures Are Awesome

Cons:

Finding Replacements That Fit

I bought this camera less than a year ago, never dropped it or did anything to it, yet the bottom doesn't latch tight enough to read the memory card unless I push it in. Also, my USB cord that came with the camera was stolen, about a month ago, and this website doesn't offer a replacement, and it's been awful trying to find one that fits (I've already ordered and returned two...). So as long as you don't lose pieces, maybe you'll be happy with it!

By Rach from Huntsville AL on 01/19/2011

Pros:

Sweep Panorama

Cons:

Poor Picture Quality, Cannot Be Compared To A 2mp

I have been a SONY fanatic for 30yrs.i have a SONY T.V,receiver,DVD,Computer, if Sony made a car probably i would have bought it,until i bought this camera 7 months ago. It was the worst thing I ever spent my money on. Poor pic quality, worse in low light and the pictures are blurry. How I wish I could return this camera to sony. I stopped using it 2 months after purchase because it was not giving me any details with the family pictures. Bad investment but i have learned and will try Nikon as i hear good things about that camera. I have a Sony cybershot 4 mp which is better hands down in comparison to this DSC-W370. SONY you let me down with this product and i will think twice now before buying any products from your company,

Not that great

By Sikora from Atlanta, GA on 01/13/2011

Pros:

Nice Pictures

Cons:

Slow Shutter

This camera isn't all that it is cracked up to be. The shutter is way to slow. If anyone or anything is moving it will be a blur. It takes about 1 second for the shutter to close. The smart functions aren't very smart. You can't take any sports photos or they will be blurry. Now my camera always tries to record a video instead of take a picture when I turn it on. If the camera worked like Sony said it does it would be a great camera. There are times the auto focus will work properly, that is when I am close to being satisfied. A good picture looks very crisp. I am usually satisfied with Sony products. Don't buy their cameras.

Pros:

Easy Use, Excellent Pics, Battery Life, Size

Cons:

This camera is awesome. I got it two weeks ago, on sale at a very good price. I noticed the reviews before mine comment on the short battery life. This was not the case for me. I took this camera on my trip to cuba and the battery lasted for the whole trip (which was a week) . When i came home the battery wasn't even close to being dead. I didn't even need to pack the charger. The pictures are so clear even the panorama pictures are awesome. The size is very small and it is very easy to use. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone.

Excellent camera, one major flaw + one minor flaw

By Vivifiant from Mentor, Ohio on 01/07/2011

Pros:

Hd Movie Clips, Excellent Features, Great Pictures

Cons:

Auto Focus Problems In Medium And Low Light

About 6 months ago I bought a SONY W370 and it would take me a couple of pages to describe all the good features and excellent pictures. The only complaint I have is the struggle with the focus in less than optimal light conditions. The camera tries to adjust constantly but is mostly unable to focus. This happens as well taking pictures as with video clips and in a all three focus modi. (multi / Center / Spot). In video mode there is no choice of a focus modus. Basically the camera is unusable or difficult to use in all medium or low light situations, i.e. parties or indoor pictures w/o flash. Don't count on using this camera for pictures of your kids unwrapping gifts unless you use flash or many bright lights... Since this is certainly a known problem at Sony engineering I don't know why the engineers did not add a menu function to allow setting the focus to a fixed distance or to simply allow shutting off auto focus in all shooting modi.

I keep the camera in a soft pouch but even with moderate use the symbols on the shooting/viewing toggle button and delete button are worn off. Again those are the only issues I have with an otherwise fantastic camera.

Cons:

Picture Quality Not As Good As Expected

Revieved as a birthday gift and have tried all photo settings and am not impressed with photo quality. Bought my wife an olympus , comparable model , and it takes much better quality pictures and has 1 gig of built in memory. I took 3 pictures and was out of internal memory! I have owned many Sony products and am sorry for quality of this one! Also price of the Sony was much more than the Olympus.

I was a big fan of SONY camera. I have SONY P8, P90, W100, and this W370 and other SONY TV, DVD player and camcord. I think I can say this camera is the worst SONY product I have ever bought. the image quality is really so so. It doesn't perform well in low light and high speed as most other cameras in the same price range. However, the worst thing is, the time from you click the button to it actually takes a shot is so long. This almost makes it unusable to take living family photos. If possible, I really want to return this camera and buy a different one.

Partial images

By clyde714 from Oceanside, CA on 12/25/2010

Pros:

Ease Of Use, Size

Cons:

~30% Of Pix Are "cropped"

About 1/3 of the pictures taken by this camera are arbitrarily "cropped", i.e. only the top portion is displayed. The amount of cropping varies - sometimes it's a lot (like 80% missing), other time it's less (like on 25% missing). It happens at random. This camera is only 6 months old. It started doing this after about 1 month.

Poor Quality

By ClickedOff from Dayton, Ohio on 12/25/2010

Pros:

Good Features

Cons:

Does Not Take Good Pictures

Bought this camera last April 22. At first it worked well, but after 4 months it wood only take pictures of white outs. There is only one mode it works in, and even that isn't good. The color isn't right and the picture is a little to light. So I ca not recommend this camera to anyone

I have a Sony Alpha SLR ...

By BryanCanuckRD from Red Deer, AB on 12/25/2010

Pros:

Panoramic Option

Cons:

Does Not Focus On Either Photo Or Video Option, Battery Door Opens Easily

I have a Sony Alpha SLR and decided to get this camera for my last trip as we were going to be mostly at the beach and didn't want to risk getting my SLR camera damaged. Some photos were ok, but for the most part, I used this camera less and my iphone more. There was such a huge delay once you've pressed the button to take photo; if you were taking still photos this would be an excellent camera but (like another reviewer) i missed quite a bit of photo ops because of this delay. Took some videos as well and they were, for the most part, blurry and have no way to adjusting this manually. Some of the photos were also blurry and although i have set the focus to whatever options were available, it just doesn't seem to work. Extremely disappointed, I'm definitely going to return this on Monday when the stores are open again.

Fantastic Buy

By jillylady628 from Kennesaw, GA on 12/24/2010

Pros:

Crisp Images, Clear, Nice Extras

Cons:

Yet To Find

I am a professional photographer and I bought this camera to have on the side for trips etc...I have LOVED this camera! It has amazing detailed picture and even on 100% zoom, the pictures do not pixilate! I have found that the battery has fantastic life to it and that the smile detection feature is so fun and interesting! This is a great first camera! The picture I uploaded was taken on my honeymoon and I was very impressed with the macro quality of the camera!

This camera is the best i ever had

By HappyH55User from Romania, Saint George on 12/24/2010

Pros:

High Detailed Images, Can Make Light Painting Too, Full Hd Video

Cons:

Nothing

Before i bought this product,i read a tonn of reviews and opinions, i saw on many sites that people wrote : you can't manually set shutter speed or do light painting with it. No,thats not true. Yes you can do, there is the manual mode, where you can set the shutter speed,ISO etc... I'm very impressed and happy to see what it can do,iEase mode is also very reliable in light,it selects so easily and fast the scene mode for the shot.In dark places or at night you can use again the manual settings,so don't say that it can't take good photos at night.I took two shots, whit shutter speed set at 15", and f/8.0,and made light painting, max setting of shutter is 30".

Disappointed

By rfwwcw from Cincinnati, Ohio on 12/24/2010

Pros:

Looks Great

Cons:

Photos Are Not So Great

I have had this camera for about a month and used it only a handful of times. Like other user mentioned, photos look great on LCD screen but not so great when printed. Hard to find the right setting for your photographs. They are either too bright or too dark. I have tried every setting in many different lighting conditions.

THE WORST CAMARA I'VE EVER HAD!

By NELLA from Upland, CA on 12/14/2010

Cons:

Blurred Photos. Wated Of Money

This camara is the worst item I've ever had. I bought this camara becase I had a Sony camara before which I loved, but It was very old and I didn't work well (I had it for 5 years). So I trusted in Sony products I bought this camara expecting more than my old camara but this camara is overrated. The pictures are blurred not matter what feature I set up. If I set up for big smile, or less bright or auto flash or anything the photos are always blurried. This camara ruined my family moments luckily I have my iphone that takes photos thousand times better than this mediocre camara. I dont recomend this camera at all. Waste of money.

sorry...but this is the poorest quality camera

By txboatlady from TX on 12/12/2010

Pros:

Small And Light Weight

Cons:

Poor Design, Poor

perhaps I got a lemon as I read reviews that people just think its the greatest ever. Not me. The button to press to take a picture is impossible. If it snaps the picture after 5-6 presses, the subjects have gotten tired of waiting and moved, eyes closed etc. Pictures are blurry...yes really. And the software PMB is the worst. What a waste of money this has turned out to be.

Great Purchase

By mckymse1 from OFallon, MO on 12/12/2010

Pros:

Easy To Use For A Beginner.

Cons:

None Found So Far.

After months of reading reviews on the internet and borrowing different brands of digital cameras from friends I decided to buy the Sony Cyber-shot W370. I played around with my mother-in-law's Coolpix and found it hard to operate for a beginner. I also watched my mother-in-law (65) take forever to get her camera to do what she wanted. We went over to her house yesterday and she fumbled with her camera trying to take pictures. Some of her shots were blurry while I could hold my Cyber-shot with one hand and a take a photo and it would come out perfect. If she wanted to take a photo of the whole family she would have to have everyone sit really close together. I could use the panoramic mode and get the whole family in as they sat on the sofa and love seat that were feet apart from each other. I have to say after only 2 weeks of use, I love this camera.

A useless and expensive camera

By mej123 from Buenos Aires on 12/06/2010

My first camera was a kodak (it was amazing), my second one was a sony dsc w180 (the best one, cheap and very useful) and the last is this one. I hate it. The image is poor when you see it with the computer and the edges are like if you were looking with fishbowls in your eyes! It has no macro funtion, the intelligent auto detects what situation is (it doesnt work very well, i hate the IA). The optical zoom isnt of 4x, one day I felt that the zoom couldnt be of 4x so I bought a tripod and I compared the dsc w180 (with 3x) and the dsc w350 (4x). I couldnt believe what I was seeing! the dsc w180 has the same zoom as the w350! The camera is worst I ever had for night shots, its impossible to make a good takes with this camera (day and night, but a little better when there is light) Where are Mr. Sepia and Mrs. Black and White? Oh they arent here... they got lost in a traffic jam and they dissapeared. The video quality is terrible 720p must be amazing but his camera changed my mind I could not believe that 720p could be pixelated like my olde kodak. It doesn't focus well. I dont find a way to get rid of this problem and the others a wrote. I think if I buy new camera I will buy a lumix.

One huge MINUS for me though is that I have found no way to date and time stamp the pictures. I've been through all of the menus and have found no option yet to place the date and time on the pics. This is extremely important in my line of work so if any of you in law enforcement are considering this camera, keep looking. I'll keep it for family photos but I'm looking elsewhere for a camera that includes this important feature.

DO NOT Buy

By goodcameraman from Hartford, CT on 11/22/2010

DO NOT buy this camera. It is the worst camera I have ever owned. In the Easy Mode (auto), there are some great features. The problem is that you have to push the shutter half way down to focus the picture. This takes too much time and you never great the picture you want. It does have another mode where it just snaps the picture without the shutter delay but then you do not have any of the options available in the Easy Mode. The battery life is terrible and it takes forever to charge. Buying a spare battery is very expensive. The latch to the memory and battery compartment is too small and dainty. Since you always have to open it up to get the battery out you wonder how long before it breaks. A good feature, the HD video is great and easy to use.

It might work for you

By Billi from SE Georgia on 11/20/2010

Pros:

Hd Looks Great Online, Clear Crisp Pictures And Videos

Cons:

Very Short Battery Life Video Format Is Not Usable On Computer

On paper this camera seems to have it all, IT can take great pictures, it just refuses to do it reliability, often it takes too long to choose a mode, or focus, and night shots are rarely even usable. The HD video is great, if you view it with the auto-run software the camera installs when connected to the computer, or if you upload it to an online site. The issue is the mp4 format which I haven't been able to find a converter or player that will handle it on my computer. The power button and the shutter button both feel similar, causing problems with accidentally turning off the camera. The sound quality is very good on video, and the panorama mode is really great. The worst thing of all is that the battery will not last even a few hours. I could keep going but my guess is Sony will pull this review, so why bother.

A lot of camera in small package

By Waggs from Cincinnati, OH on 11/19/2010

Pros:

Feature Packed Including Panorama And Great Video

Cons:

Blurry Shots Are Common Even Though Stabilization Is Touted

So far this camera is a surprising small package with great versatility. I am getting too many blurry shots especially when indoors or at dusk. No on-screen warning about shake. The video is amazing for a small camera, but some light fares happen when shooting in low light situations. The panorama is an unexpected feature that is very versatile. Great value.

Fantastic Little Camera

Pros:

Has Features Of Much More Expensive Cameras, Fits In Your Shirt Pocket, Small, Simple To Use!

Cons:

None!

This is the best camera I have ever owned. I have had several point and shoot digital cameras, and this is by far the best one I've ever had. It is almost $300 cheaper than my other digital camera but it does so much more, and has features on it that you would never think would be on a camera in this price range. I take it with me everywhere, just to catch that special moment. I can't say enough about this camera. Sony has come up with another winner. Thank you Sony!

Reasonable performance at the price point

By Sturmhafen from Beloit, Wi on 11/11/2010

My beefs with the camera first: Sony has not corrected the excess noise at high ISO conditions. the shutter lag is grossly excessive except in full sun. the intelligent auto has poor selection for close up shots with poor focus and too large aperture for the close up shots. It does not consistantly select Macro under these conditions when taking flower and detail shots. the G-lens on this camera does not seem to be a clear as the Zeiss on my dsc-w7. Good stuff: image stabilization appears to function reasonably well. For most shooting the intelligent auto selects all the correct settings. the zoom is excellent. the sensor resolution allows good large prints. the camera is small enough to carry in a shirt pocket comfortably but has large controls for ease of use. Overall a good value at this price point

Cons:

Video Sucks!

I bought this camera specifically for the HD video and HDMI interface. The previous Sony camera pre HD had the same problem. Could not stay focused and was useless. The software for copying over is very cumbersome and the format is quicktime vs windows. If you are looking for a digital camera with video buy something else VERY DISAPPOINTING!

Compact Digital Camera with powerful zoom+

By Punk from Palmdale, CA on 10/31/2010

Recently purchased this camera and I am amazed by the astonishing quality of the photos it takes. You don't need a very steady hand to take great photos with this mini machine of a camera. The quick auto focus and face detection software makes taking pictures a snap! A bonus is the panoramic function, quality in this mode suffers a little, but it is still a neat function. The HD movie mode looks great on a computer once downloaded, Sony could have put a couple more holes in the camera to allow more sound to be received/heard. The 25 mm lens is great because of the wide-angle quality and the Carl Zeiss/Sony G lens. I am an avid hiker/biker and I needed a compact, rugged camera that would allow me to take great, memorable pictures. The DSC H55 filled that requirement with astonishing shots. The only "gripe" I have with the camera is that the lens and processor produces slight color tinting on the edges in sunlight (outside shots) and the powerdown time takes a little bit of time (1.33-2.0 seconds). So if you are looking for a great camera, look no further, this camera will not disappoint!

Simply Awful

By lutefisk69 from westmisnter, md on 10/19/2010

Pros:

Lots Of Great Features

Cons:

Very Big Shutter Lag

Having had three Cybershot's already I did not hesitate to purchase this one. However, there is a massive shutter lag. Maybe about 1.5 sec from the time the button is pushed to the time when the camera takes the shot. This would be ok if you were posing for a picture, but to try to take a shot at the right moment is just not hapening with this camera. The shutter lag has caused me to miss several precious momment photos, and for this I cannont recommend this camera. It does not function as a point and shoot should. I thought this would be a step up from the last cybershots, but it looks like sony decided to let 100 monkeys design this camera rather then the engineers that designed my last Cybershots. I would not recomend this camera to anyone but someone who is taking still photos.

By Vikuzia from Chicago, IL on 10/13/2010

Pros:

Soft On The Eyes

Cons:

Horribly Delicate!

This apperance of this adorable little camera is the first thing that i was drawn to, its sleek and the perfect size for my lifestyle. However, within the first dozen pictures I took, the lens jammed and it hasn't worked since. I lost the reciept and haven't been able to return it, and i didn't buy a warranty. But come on! It broke on the very first day. Now I am stuck with a broken camera. I'm quite sad that it broke, i was able to really modify the pictures i had already taken with it and they turned out really beautiful. In the end, I don't think I would reccomend this camera because it is just too fragile, or maybe mine was just defective.

It is too slow

By Ziad from Iraq on 10/12/2010

Pros:

Good Pictues

Cons:

Slow Shutter

I couldn't take a picture to my little daughter because of slowness it is horrible and all so it takes tow flashes instead of one if you are looking to the camera you can blink your eyes a couple of times before the picture

decent camera

By Rajveer from India on 10/04/2010

Pros:

Zooming While Video Shooting, 10x Zoom

Cons:

Battery Life

I am using this camera since last couple of month. It is pretty good camera with good zoom at a decent price. I upgraded from Sony dsc73 to this and satisfied about it. People who are used to bulky/big cameras may find it difficult to handle this one.

Really Disappointed

By Senthil from Phoenix, AZ on 09/29/2010

Pros:

I Cannot Say Any Pros Of This Camera

Cons:

Everything

My first camera is SONY H20. I bought recently this camera. But I really disappointed of this. When compare to the image quality of H20, W370 gives poor quality. Focus is not good, it takes much time to shoot each image. Also shutter sped is too slow. I suggest my friends to go H series or T series instead of this.

Battery

By Grief from Undisclosed on 09/28/2010

Pros:

Nice Pictures

Cons:

The Battery Has To Be Taken Out Of The Camera To Charge It

The simple fact that I have to take the battery out of the camera to charge it makes this camera non portable. And to make the package more cumbersome, the USB cord is huge. This camera as semi-slim as it appears, needs a separate case to bring its battery charger and very large USB cord. Very inefficient.

By Phnompenhpaul from Phnom Penh on 09/20/2010

Pros:

By Nightmareartist from Shelton, CT on 09/13/2010

Pros:

Quick To Respond, Battery Life, Easy To Understand, Good Price

Cons:

Glare On Screen.

I bought this camera after much comparing. It replaced a Nikon Coolpix that let me down for the last time. This little Sony is everything the Coolpix was not. It is good on batteries. I bought an extra battery and recharged it for a trip to a Renaissance Faire and I never needed it. And I took alot of pictures. The battery recharger came with the camera, that was something I wasn't expecting. Very nice.

I bought an extra battery and recharged it for a trip to a Renaissance Faire and I never needed it. And I took alot of pictures. All the features are explained succinctly on screen if you need them. The panorama feature works well and I even took a little movie. The sound was good too. I really like not needing to keep track of a lens cap. A protective shield covers the lens as soon as you turn it off. Now, I may be waxing on about stuff that has been standard in the industry for a while. This Sony is the first camera I've bought in many years. It was great right out of the box. The only thing I don't like is not really a big deal. The glare on the monitor screen when the sun is behind you makes it hard to see what you are taking a picture of. It does help the argument for a viewfinder. But, I'll deal. All in all, I'm thrilled!

Great camera purchase - versatile

By Semaj from Jacksonville, FL on 09/09/2010

Pros:

Clarity, Functions, Versatility, Ease Of Use, Size

Cons:

Microphone

I am impressed with this compact camera. It did better than I expected. It outperforms my previous point and shoot by a long shot. Very nice to have variable macro, zoom, wideangle distances with the autofocus and lock in capabilities. Locks on well also, quickly. A great set of resolutions to choose from plus the video is great even though I can't seem to record my own voice being in close proximity of the camera while a roam doing a video. The zoom capbility during video is a nice touch I like. I take this camera with me every where just in case I need or want to use it. I narrowed my search to Sony for the Panaramic Sweep which I needed for a project I was involved in. All the features available in it has wanted me to want to keep this camera on hand where ever I go. Color shots are nice, twilight shots are nice, shots with and without flash are nice. If the flash is a little strong for the shot, I turn it off quickly and shoot with no flash - then my picture is good. Even in no flash mode when the shutter has to be open a bit linger, its not much longer and the built in stabilitly control allows me a clear unmoved, nonblurred shot. On occassion I got a blurred pict or shot and the color wasn't so great, but I attribute that to operator error and having to grow more in familiarity with the cameras abilities.I bought the camer 08-08-10 but it seems like I have had it much longer. I have read a number of reviews at different sites. For me, this camera has the best options set, flexability, variables for a price I like. Some people get tooooo technical and nit pick. Maybe the want to criiticize based on their knowledge and experience and want people to know how deep they are. Well, I am a picky detailed person too. I am schooled in computer and electrical engineering and alot of times things have to be jsut right for my satisfaction. I bought a small case for it. I dropped it twice, once at 3 feet. Still works fine.Has a lot of options and I find the controls are not too small. I am 6'' 4" tall - so I don't ahve small hands. I admit I am not a professional photographer. It would be a great complement to an SLR for those who are pro's and use one. But, come on. How can you not appreciate this amazingly compact wizbang design of a camera?! I love it and recommend it any and all. Cool sound affect for turninng it on too. Wish I had a part in designing this little baby.......

It's New!

By koolkolyn from CA on 09/06/2010

Pros:

New Photo Options. Slim And Wide Screened. Great Mega-pixels. Comfortable To Hold.

Cons:

Can't Edit 'in Camera'.

Okay so I've had three Sony Cybershots so far. A DSC-W55, DSC- W220 and now a DSC-W350. The first two weren't broken by defect, but by water and drop-age. But I absolutely love my new one. It's fantastic and takes great photos. The only thing I would change is being able to edit photos within the camera. But other than that I love the advancement over my three generations of Cybershots.

Pros:

Cons:

Bought this camera to replace my old one. Have spent 2 solid days taking pics in every possible situation, in every lighting, day, evening, inside and out. You can't hardly take a bad pic with this thing. It's supper easy to use, has awesome point and shoot and easy to adjust settings when I want to. Controls are in comfortable places. You can't go wrong with this camera and it was a great price also. I am setting 20 ft away from hummingbird feeder and wow, what a shot! Crisp, clear shots in every situation I tried and I tried everything I could think of including action shots of son's football practice. Even those were crisp and clear. Love this thing!!!!!!!!!!

Have used the camera several times. Took to a concert and took MANY photos and videos. Photos were not as good as I expected. I have an old Sony DSC-W5 that takes about the same quality photos. I expected the camera to do a better job at not having blurry photos than it did. Video with the zoom was AWESOME, but sound quality was lacking. The DSC-W5 has MUCH better sound shooting video. The photo with the date is from the DSC-W5 the other is from the DSC-H55

By rhiannon from Undisclosed on 08/21/2010

Pros:

Its A Camera

Cons:

Not Worth The $$

I bought this camera, because it was the newest one on the shelf... I wish i hadn't. I don't like how you cant choose your own settings. I have tried to take pictures of precious family moments, and missed the opportunity because this camera takes too long to decide for you and most of the time the picture comes out blurry. :( I honestly do not think its worth the pay . and the battery life is short

Great little snapper

By revraikes from Santa Cruz, CA on 08/18/2010

Pros:

Panoramic Shots, Auto Iso, Black Adjust For Dark Shots

Cons:

Shortish Battery Life, Audio Just Ok

Man, I really got more than I bargained for when I bought this. It's tiny, does HD video beautifully. I'm getting a kick out of taking panoramic shots which I can stitch and do fun things with in Photoshop Extended. The DRO Plus setting takes those color dots out of dark photos and replaces them with black (I prefer not to use a flash). And the software that came with it makes things like fixing photos, trimming video and sharing on social networks a snap.

camera upgrade

By Yelowstone from Slingerlands,NY on 08/16/2010

Pros:

Pictures Clear, Panoramic Easy To Use

This camera was an upgrade from my Nikon. That camera was 3.2 mp. I found that the pictures came out better with the Sony in low light. I hope the battery used in the Sony will last longer than what I used in the Nikon.I would say in day light the picture quality is about the same as the Nikon. I like a camera that is an easy point and shoot,so far this seems to fit the bill.

Great Point and shoot

By Jencit from Undisclosed on 08/14/2010

Pros:

Zoom, Panorma, Intelligent Shooting

Cons:

Noisy When Zoomed In On Movie Mode

So I just got this camera and took it to Puerto Rico with me. I was very impressed with it. the Intelligent shooting mode knew if i was shooting a landscape, portrait, in low lightening. it was awesome! The panorma function is also very neat for capturing scenic images. I was impressed that I could actualyl zoom in while filming a video... however upon review of the movies they seem to be pretty noisy when in zoom mode. If the zoom is not on the audio works great, That ismy only complaint.

Best Point-and-Shoot I have Used.

By CyberShooter from Connecticut on 08/09/2010

Pros:

Panoramas, Small, Lightweight, Quick

Cons:

Power Button Next To Shutter, Odd Image Colors

I have had this camera for a while to replace my old point-and-shoot. This camera is quick to start and take pictures and the panorama mode is great. I've used the sweep panorama at my graduation and it handled all the people in the crowd nicely. This camera takes nice pictures under normal conditions, but the images are oddly colored when its somewhat cloudy, dim, or at twilight. The flash helps, but the camera doesn't seem to think the flash is necessary in some situations. The color seems to be a little washed out and as if all the colors in the picture are trying to blend into gray. The zoom is good and satisfies your average "zooming needs." Also a minor inconvenience is that the power button is close to and feels like the shutter button, so I have turned off the camera many times while taking a picture, but this has only happened when doing my "self-portraits" or when I give the camera to someone else who is unfamiliar with it. This can be annoying because although the camera is quick to start, it takes a little longer to turn off. This camera is also durable. I have been using it heavily for many months and there are not scratches on it anywhere, not even small little microscopic ones on the bottom or screen. But the screen does attract finger prints like crazy. The movie mode works wonderfully and has all the necessary features of a point-and-shoot camera, and it even warns you if someone blinks and it tracks faces. It does have some weird features though, like putting music on the card, I haven't really been able to figure out how to do that or why you'd need that feature. Overall this camera is great and you won't be disappointed.

Very Good Camera

By Capture1 from Minnesota on 08/08/2010

Pros:

Lots Of Usable Features In A Very Compact Package. Pocket Friendly And Light.

Cons:

Somewhat Slow But Acceptable. Needs Textures Grips.

This is a very good feature packed camera. It will do most everything you ask. Like all camera's, you need to become familiar with how to get the best pictures. Some noted bad low lighting shots. Well to correct this issue get use to going into the limited program mode. Easy to switch ISO settings. You can also go into manual mode and adjust the f stops and aperture. However, doing this will require a slower shutter speed allowing more light to enter for capture. Steady shot helps in this situation allowing a clear picture to be taken. You will need to hold still or use a tripod. This can also be accomplished in intell. auto by adjusting the Oev mode for brightness. Play around and figure out what works best. I do agree the the flash is to strong sometimes but most cameras in this class have the same issue. A little brighter is better at distance shooting anyway.

But hey, at least you get to zoom on video unlike a lot of HD compact cameras out there.. Panoramic feature is a lot of fun and very easy to use. Overall, I am pleased with the results. This is a great camera for it's class. Personally for what I want in a point and shoot pocket camera with a nice wide angle zoom it's just about perfect. Oh, and for digital zooming up to 20x this camera takes very good pictures.

TERRIBLE CAMERA

By 87steele from Southern New Jersey on 07/24/2010

Pros:

14.1 Megapixels, Valuable

Cons:

Blurry Panoramic Shots, Grainy Video Indoora And Outdoor, Bright Photos With Flash, Very Poor Photos

Picked this up recently, thinking I was going to have a nice camera. How wrong was I. This was the worst camera I've ever owned. Nowhere does it say that the audio is barely heard when zooming in when filming. Not until you read the manual INSIDE that is. Photos were too dark without flash, and way too bright with flash. For 720p, I think my standard-def camera could take a better movie. Audio sounds garbled and low. And for 14.1 megapixels, it sure seemed blurry when using telephoto. This camera can't even focus on a simple flower. Can't upload movies to my computer either. Supplied software messed up my computer for a bit as well. My advice-stay away, and save up for a nicer camera.

The New Camera

By Macparson from La Grange Park, IL on 07/10/2010

Pros:

Very Good Camera For The Price

Cons:

Need A Standard View Finder Want To Turn Off Electronic One

Basically, I like the camera and it takes very good photos as shown in the shot of Wrigley, our Beagle. The settings are difficult to understand and I am not a beginner. I took excellent night shots and video of Oak Brook 4th fireworks. Had to delete a few.. I wish for a standard viewfinder. I want to turn off the electronic view which is excellent. Over all, it is an excellent camera for the price.

Bad within 3 hours

By yamada from NJ,US on 07/10/2010

Pros:

Cannot Think Out Anything

Cons:

Camera Bad Within 3 Hours

I got this camera the day before yesterday. I loaded memory card today and had a trip to New York City today. I just took several pictures and found the lens stuck outside. The LCD screen showed "Turn power off and on again." I tried many times but it's not working at all. I bought this from Sony Style Store. I am not sure what is the return policy. This is a very bad experience. I always buy Sony production since Sony made very good quality products. These days, looks like Sony became another "Toyota". I will update next week to see how the return process will be from Sony Style Store.

Enthusiast

By shuttereye from Reston, VA on 07/09/2010

Pros:

Compact, Several Photographic Modes, Functionality

Cons:

Not So "steady" Steady Shooting

I have "played" with photography since childhood, and have learned much about lenses, shutter speeds, light, etc. When I ventured into buying a new camera, I was interested in a Canon. SInce I have been a - by primary choice - Canon consumer. I began by reading the specs of all the cameras available at the store. As I progressed, I looked at the price, functionality, and other ammenities (steady shot). While other cameras offered the steadiness at a higher, more precise end, the price, functionality and other details (lens, zooming, MM opening, etc) of the Sony came up as higher "value" for the money. I must say that the only function I find that is less than expected is the "steadiness" detail. Frankly, I am surprised that the camera could not perform better, especially since all of the rest of it is truly of a superior nature. I am not necessarily swayed from Canon, but I understand now why in other "professional" evaluating revies Sony has been considered a true rival to Canon. I hope to see more and better. Go Sony!

Eh...

By Jack1234 from NY on 07/06/2010

Pros:

Light-weight, Small

Cons:

Painfully Slow Between Shots, Slow

I was hoping for more. I have had some success shooting my cats when they are perfectly still- macro zoom is tempermental and takes getting used to. Forget about shooting things like birds or anything fast moving. It's very slow between shots. It's Ok, but I would be remiss if I didn't say I was disappointed.

I had many other cameras in the past, but this one is far superior. The panoramic mode is awesome, the double exposure feature is handy for low light situations. The size is small and the features are incredibles for the price range!

So Disappointed

By Rochdaker from Rochester, NY on 07/05/2010

Pros:

Huge Clear Lcd Screen

Cons:

Low Light Level Anything

I have come to expect great things from Sony, but totally disappointed in the low light stills and video. No amount of tweaking in software afterwords helps. Video is even worse, keeps trying to focus constantly, so watching it is totally useless. I'm not talking about complete darkness situations either, just ordinary everyday situations indoors. Why can't they just have a fixed focus setting for the video? Seems simple enough, did they do any testing before releasing? Bought specifically for a college graduation ceremony, and everything I shot was totally useless.....SOOOOOO disappointed, and past 30 days and can't even return.

Disappointed

Pros:

Slimmer

Cons:

Blurry Pictures

This is my 3rd compact cybershot. Unfortunately, I wish I did not buy it. My first one was Awesome, my second Great but this is only average. I don't like that you can't choose your setting... it tries so hard to do the automatic stuff that you loose many precious moments. I have young children, they move quick. of course, the photos you do get are great but I have never had to delete so many photos before. I wish I could return it, I've missed some moments.

Disappointed

By JackFrost from Tampa, FL on 07/04/2010

Pros:

Sweep Panorama., Good Image Quality, Hd Video

Cons:

Shutter Lag, Blurry Video

I was terribly disappointed with this camera. This camera replaced another Sony camera, the DSC-W50, which I loved. I decided to upgrade because I am going on a trip to Japan in a couple of weeks. Received this camera and the first thing I noticed was the long shutter lag. Sometimes it will take up to 2 seconds before the image will snap. Playing around with the settings, I was able to reduce the time, however it is still unacceptable. The biggest complaint is the video. When recording video, even if the camera is on a table recording a static object, it will go in and out of focus, almost constantly. It seems like the camera is trying to auto focus when it doesn't need to. Because of this, also, you hear a clicking in the video that corresponds to the blurry sections. I had really high hopes for this camera, especially since I was so happy with my other Sony camera. Unfortunately, it is now out of the return period, and I don't have enough time to have it sent in for repair before my trip to Japan. For now I am stuck with a sub-par camera. I have read about other owners of this camera with the same problems.

Compact, 10x Optical Zoon, Light

Cons:

Picture Quality

I have been buying sony cameras over the last 10 years and own 1 snap and shoot and a DSLR. Both cameras that i have work great. I purchased DSCH 55 to replace my older sony snap and shoot and picture quality of this camera is horrible. Pictures comeone grainy and not crisp and i tried shooting in different light environments. Would not recomment this camera for anyone.

Tryna get used to it.

By bellyx3 from Natchitoches, LA on 06/27/2010

Pros:

Nice 3.0 Screen And Ncie 14 Mp Pics.

Cons:

Cant Edit Pics And Cant Copy From Memory Card To Internal

Ive always used Kodak but went with Sony because of the big screen plus the 14 mp- and the price was under $200. It almost seems as if I have to take 2 pictures in a row and the 2nd picture always turns out much better. And I cant figure out how to copy pictures to my internal memory from the memory card- I want to upload a few pictures to my computer- I do not wana upload the 2,000 pics that are on my memory card. Also I love black and white pictures- my old Kodak camera let u do black and white but this Sony camera doesnt. So I guess I'll just do them black and white on my computer or at the store when im printing them out. Also my old Kodak camera let me crop the pictures while I was viewing them on the camera- which this camera also doesnt do. But if I cant copy pics from the memory card to internal- I mite take it back and go back to Kodak. And why is the an "underwater" option? Is this camera waterproof? I seriously doubt it- which is not a very nice joke to play on someone. Anyways Im gona give it a week.

Little Camera, big power

By ScubaJen from Honolulu, Hawaii on 06/25/2010

Pros:

Small, Great Color In Photos, Intelligent Auto, Light Weight

Cons:

Might Be Too Small For People With Big Hands

This camera is amazing i have it in Blue, great photos, even underwater, where i take most of my photos. The Intelligent Auto is amazing, get close enough to something and it switches to Macro, dark, and it turns on the flash, Great resolution, and not grainy-except when the water made it so-but thats not the camera's fault. Its Light, easy to throw in a pocket or purse or bag. It is easy to use and figure out, the buttons are small so if you have bigger hands or fingers, you may have some trouble, but overall, a great camera, takes just about as good of photos as my Sony DSLR does underwater. Great camera for a great price too! Thanks Sony!

poor picture quality

By Crispy from Loganville, GA on 06/21/2010

Pros:

7x Optical Zoom, Sweep Panoramas

Cons:

Battery Life, Pictures

I returned my DSC-W290 to purchase this camera, thinking newer is better. I was wrong. The only thing this camera does that the 290 didn't is panoramas and 7x zoom. the 14.1 megapixels would be a good thing, if this camera would actually take good photos. the w290, with it's 12.1 megapixels, was far superior to this. Comparing the battery life between the two, this battery went from 100% to 75% after i was just taking a few pictures in my living room to test it. the w290 stayed at 100% for far longer. Also this one goes into twilight mode too easily on iAuto, rarely goes into macro mode, doeas worse at backlit portraits, and doesnt detect faces as well. I plan to return this one and get something else. i haven't decided what though

Pretty red camera worked like a charm

By TravlinGirl3 from Yuma, AZ on 06/17/2010

Pros:

Compact, Beautiful Clear Pictures, Easy To Take Videos

Cons:

Battery Trap Door Comes Open Too Easily

I love my camera even though I broke it when I dropped it on the floor of the dining room on the last night of my cruise. The battery trap door flew open, and the tiny blue plastic piece that holds the battery in place snapped off. I retrieved it and submitted a claim to American Express under their Purchase Protection Program. They will credit me the original price which I will use to buy another W370.

By bill1998 from Boulder Colorado on 06/16/2010

Pros:

Reliable, Zoom, Awesome Panorama, Screen, Megapixels, Fast Shutter Speed, Low Light

Cons:

????????????none

this is an awesome camera. I got it today and have already burned through 2 gbs of mem. Ilove the panorama because you don't have to take multiple shots and crop them, I'm also a beginner and this is my 2nd camera, the kodak I HAD TANKED, the battery that comes with it is great, I took at least 200 photos before changing the batteries, in low light, it has no problem with resolution, my friend has a DSLR and he likes most of the functions on the h55 better than his expensive camera. All in all, this is a great camera for the amount it costs, and has A LOT of cool functions.

Would recommend this camera to everyone.

By Raptor from Wyoming, MI on 06/12/2010

Pros:

Auto Intelligent Adjustment., 14.1mp, Active Image Sabilization, Full Hd Video, Sweep Panarama, Compact

This is a GREAT camera. I have used a Kodak easyshare z612 for years and thought it was an ok. It took good pics but in low light situations it just didnt cut it. So I went looking for a new one. Looked at alot and came acrossed this one. The sweep panarama shot caught my eye. I thought that would be great for my upcomeing carribean cruise and the auto adjust is great cause you dont have to change settings for different scenes. You can go from a low light situation to outside sun and the camera adjusts itself for you. Its great. The video is great because it captures in 1080 HD. I am glad I bought this camera and have NO regrets what so ever. These pics were taken with this camera. from a 6X zoom to a close up macro shot which the camera did all the settings automatically!!!! Great camera for the price. AND IT USES BOTH MEMORY STICK DUO AND SD!!!!!!

Lives up to expectations and more!

By Thaddeus from Chicago, IL on 06/11/2010

Pros:

Great Lens/ Large Screen/ Compact Size/ 10x Zoom/ Acceptable Battery Life

Cons:

The Display Seems A Little Fuzzy But Turns Out Clear After The Picture., When You Take Pictures In Low Light

The DSC-H55 is the best compact camera I have found that Sony makes for the price. Every picture I have taken has been absolutely stunning. The panorama mode works better than expected but is a little hard to get the hang of at first. You have to go slowly or else you end up with a photo with only half of peoples body... The flash is incredibly overbearing for its size it makes sure every square inch of the photo is bright but not too bright; even during the nighttime it looks like daylight, that is if you even need the flash. This camera practically takes the pictures for you with smile shutter and the face recognizing self timer. Not to mention the amazing zoom. My friend used it once and decided she was going to get rid of her old one to get the DSC-H55. I could go on and on about this camera. It is by far the best overall camera with the quality you expect from Sony at an EXTREMELY reasonable price. Things aren't always two good to be true.

Excellent Buy

By caseylee from Gulf Coast, Alabama on 06/09/2010

Pros:

Good Image Quality, Great Macro, Good Video Quality, Ultra Portable And Compact

Cons:

No Direct Hdmi, Short Battery Life, Slow Video Af

I have owned more cameras than most people I know. I use Canon (5dmk2 and 7d) for my professional work, but I bought the W350 to put in my pocket to capture my kids and those creative moments that come along every day. This is by far the best $200 camera Ive ever experienced. Usually I try to be understanding of shortcomings when the price is this low (what you get is what you pay for) but I must say I am very impressed with the W350. I bought this camera over the other brands because of the Zeiss lens which I have had great experiences with.

Cons:

Not recommended for the price

By Akirra from Boswell, PA on 06/05/2010

Pros:

Design, 25mm Lens, Video Stability

Cons:

Horrible Picture Quality

Bought this camera today. I was playing with it in my well lit livingroom and was impressed. I was surprised that I was able to take a picture of my whole livingroom wall which is about 18 feet thanks to the 25mm lens. I then dimmed the lights and tried the exact same pictures, horrible. the LCD screen is ridiculously grainy and the picture itself is just as bad. I played with the different functions trying to get better quality, but nothing worked and I got frustrated. I was expecting a lot more out of my 14.1 mp camera. I like almost everything about this camera except for the quality of the picture, which is obviously the most important thing. I think I will return this and try out the Sony HX1, although about $100 more and only 9.1 mp there's much better reviews and it's advertised for use in lower light. For the $350 I paid for the H55 I am very dissappointed.

I was actually waiting for an Olympus camera when I bought this Sony W370. However as I had a trip coming up I wanted a camera and found this beauty. Its startup speed is amazing and the quality of pictures is above and beyond what I imagined. Video is top notch when it works. Pertaining to video, it is true that I have also noticed the blurry video. But I have found that it does not blur when in well lit rooms or outside, so this can be a workaround. All in all I take far more pictures and this camera takes amazing shots! Plus the zoom is incredible! I would give this camera a look if I were you.

All you have to do is study the features a little bit like the Adobe Handbook and you are set. Play with the cam a little and you can take really nice pics. I upgraded from a Kodak EasyShare CX7530 3x Optical 5MP and it takes nice pics but its REALLY out dated. The camera is HUGE Heavy and no anti blur so to take a nice pic you need to be like a photo sniper and hold your breath to take a pic and hope it doesn't come out blurry. I added some pics in the Photo review and you can see how nice the pictures come out with this little Cyber-shot. So if you are looking for a nice camera with nice features like HD Vid and good quality and really easy to use look no further. If you need proof of the picture quality look at my photos posted on the Photo review.

Great Camera

By Dood from Puerto Rico on 05/26/2010

Pros:

Sweep Panorama Is Awesome

Cons:

Camera A Bit Clunky

This panorama sweep is awesome. The 7x zoom is pretty good. The camera has sooo much features. It is great for someone that wants great photos without modifying the settings. And it DOES take vertical panoramic photos (go to the menu and then direction settings in panorama mode). Overall great camera. I have upgraded from a Nikon Coolpix.

W370

By Xibfu from Minnesota on 05/25/2010

Pros:

Video, Pictures, Panorama

Cons:

Battery

Just bought this Camera the other day. It was nice with video and pictures. Other people complain about the video that it is blurry. I notice that this has more to do with the 7X lens. Of course the camera automatically focus the lens on closer objects. When you zoom in the camera, it set a focus point. When you move the camera it then refocuses its point which causes the blurr. If you want no blurr then don't use the zoom option when recording. It also record better and focus better on sunny days. As pictures goes this camera is no less than other. One thing that I am not feeling about this camera is that the battery life is ridiculously a energy demon. It eats too much electricity and the battery life is not enough to supply what the camera need. Maybe a new design of battery that can supply more longer lasting

good camera

By arianna from Undisclosed on 05/23/2010

Pros:

Great Picture Quality

I just bought this camera recently and since then I have hardly put it down. I found that you can get some really nice pictures with this and I would definately recomend this camera for someone looking for an update. The camera is easy to use and I love the option to take panoramic photos. It also can take some nice close up fotos and focus nicely. Some other reveiws said the battery does not last that long, but i have found that if you fully charge it then it is fine for a day out with a camera.

Pros:

Great Zoom, Great Pictures

Cons:

Wish It Shot 10 Pic In 1 Sec. Like Some Other Cameras Do

This is a great camera. Now taking pictures in lower lighting they seem to to be grainy as you are taking the picture but once processed they are beautiful. I would to totally recommend this camera to everyone.

Perfect.

By Goldwyn from Undisclosed on 05/06/2010

Pros:

Many Features To Just Die For. Wonderful Image Quality And Video.. Its Hd.!

Cons:

Meanwhile The Rest Of The Body Is Metal. No Big Deal Really, Battery Door Is Thin Plastic

For the people that are having problems with the focus. Suggestion. More light. I have found taking video in lower light it causes it to try and focus like crazy. Take it outside or in a well lite area. It works as good as a professinal video recorder. I now have my facebook profile loaded with wonderful HD video from this camera without a single problem.

"To Be or Not To Be..."

By Eddie256 from Garland, TX on 05/06/2010

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have had this camera for about a month or so now and despite the great, many features packed into it, it does lag behind on image quality. A perfect scenario is when I'm outdoors and I have the camera set on landscape mode to take a picture with distant focus. I don't alter any of the settings at all and I'm completely immobile (I sometimes even have the camera on a flat surface to prevent movement) and I went take the picture, things look just fine on the camera's monitor. However... when I look at the picture all the way zoomed out on my computer, my purchase on the W350 just went from statisfied to demoralized. The colors are horribly washed out, the skies are overexposed, and the picture just looks blurry even with though autofocus had a clear lock-on on the subject. This doesn't always happen though. There's probably a 1/4 to 1/3 chance of you getting a bad result when you take a picture with this camera. There are some pictures that come out amazing, and some that just look like the lunch you had last year still stuck down the drain in the food disposal (yeah... some photos are that bad.) I'm still quite satisfied with this camera however as it does have a very nice, solid feel to it when I hold it in my hands and when you're in the perfect photographic conditions, pictures will without a doubt come out looking like the $179.99 that you paid for. Perhaps I got a defective model or something and there are users out there who probably get even better pictures than I do out there, but this camera has some pretty nice features that I look for in a decent point-and-shoot. I love the Optical SteadyShot on this and the 26mm wide-angle, 4x optical zoom lens exceeds my standards, plus the video on it is just fantastic and it even FOCUSES WHILE YOU'RE RECORDING THE VIDEO, which is something found only in camcorders! The Sweep Panaroma mode is also pretty good, but keep in mind that you have to be careful while actually swiping the camera in the desired direction. It has very good battery life (rated to up to 250 shots with Stamina mode activated in the menus). I will recommend you try this camera out for a point-and-shoot and if you're not satisfied with the results, simply return it and get the top-of-the-line HX5V or the DSC-W370. This isn't really a disappointing camera. You just gotta have to know a little know-how on the technical use of cameras. It's better than using VGA cameras integrated in your cellphone for photography's sake. The pictures I uploaded were completely unedited and taken out of my camera unaltered.

Disappointing!

By masumenon from India on 04/26/2010

Pros:

Panoramic Shots, Great Stills

Cons:

Horrible Videos, Poor Battery Life

I bought this camera in the US after reading various reviews. I wanted to capture all the activities of my grand-daughter who is just a few months old. I found the still shots were very good, but when it came to taking videos, I was utterly disappointed at the results! The camera kept trying to re-focus resulting in 80% blurry videos, no matter what settings I tried. I was even more disappointed that Sony is putting such a product on the market. I own other Sony products such as my mobile phone and TV and had a high opinion of Sony. Can Sony suggest any way I can make it take good videos?

Sucks. Second day out of the box, and the LCD screen went bad. Had to return it. The video feature can be better. When zooming in and out, the picture goes fuzzy. Don't recommend this camera.

Pros:

Amazing Picture Quality And Great Auto Adjustment

Cons:

Pictures Take A While To Load Completely, Making It Hard To View Already Taken Pictures A Little Slow. Nothing Big! ^_^

GREAT CAMERA! Other than the fact that it eats fingerprints really easily, it can still be resolved with a screen protector. Quality is really amazing. This SO beats my last Sony camera, even though this one is missing a few features that my other Sony had but those features weren't really big. LOVE IT!! ^_^

Shutter speed to slow!

Pros:

None - Other Than I Like The Size

Cons:

It Jumps All Over The Place - Can't Take A Picture When It I Not Still, When Zooming

I have had a Kodak Easy Share since 2003 - I dropped it and researched cameras forever - came across this one = I thought perfect. The shutter speed is so slow - I can't believe it - only thing I like is the size! I am returning it ASAP! The battery was gone by 2 1/2 hrs of trying to use the camera. This pic was not taken with the Sony! It is not letting me put my review on here!!!!

Excellent Camera for those looking for more!

By Anonymous from Burbank, CA on 04/16/2010

I was in the market for a camera that would give me better photo quality than a simple point and shoot but not quite as in depth as a dSLR. I came across this camera and decided to actually go and check it out in person. The price had me hooked immediately so I bought it. I was surprised by the fact that the camera powered on and starting adjusting itself to the conditions of the room automatically. Another big plus is shooting HD video with the awesome image stabilization so the videos don't have that "homemade" look. Battery life is excellent and the screen is large and CRISP. I highly recommend this camera.

a nice camera, but it needs a view finder

By rdco from various on 04/14/2010

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have owned three small sony cameras in the past five or six years, and this is the smallest and lightest of the pack. You can slip this into your jeans pocket and forget about it. A battery will last most of a day of active tourist shots outside, although carrying a spare battery is a good idea, just in case its a bit cold or you need the flash more than expected. The pictures are very good, although not obviously better than the two previous generations of sony cameras. Although the focusing software is evidently more sophisticated, it still gets fooled by intervening screens and such--if anything a bit more easily than the previous generation. The main problem with the camera is that it lacks a view finder. This is not a drawback indoors, where the screen works very well, but it is a major drawback outdoors where it does not. You really cannot see the "frame" or the way the color and light are being used. So, you shoot blind. The results are none the less normally very good although they are not framed as well as would be ideal. Overall the size makes it very convenient, but the lack of a viewfinder makes me think about looking for another camera every time I try to frame a picture in bright light.

Sony Camera with Sony Lens

By Anonymous from NY on 04/09/2010

Sony Cybershots that were made with Carl Zeiss lenses were great. Picture quality was astounding. But notice how this uses a Sony lens..and that means you will get horrible photos. Sure, they can pass for Facebook or MySpace uploads...but still..why would you ever pay this much for it? Bottom line, go with a different brand like canon, or go with an older model Cybershot that still have the Carl Zeiss lenses.

Great camera for the price

By daisy13 from long beach, ca on 03/29/2010

I have had this camera for a month now and for the price, it is a great compact camera. People giving it one star are expecting pictures from $400 camera. This one is $200 - compact, lightweight (NOT looking like a plastic - as one reviewer said) and has reliable options ideal for snap-shooters. Panoramic feature is ideal for taking pics at the beach or mountains. Plus, this one has HD video. Remember, you pay $200, so please, do not expect pics of $400 camera. Those expecting more than a very good snapshot experience at this price should go $100 up.

I just purchased this camera last week and have already taken quite a few pictures. It is so easy to use. I have basicly used the easy mode to just point and click. I have been practicing on my little Jack Russell Terrior and the pics are coming out great!

Not a very good camera.

By margee from PA on 03/22/2010

I first found this camera on this website and decided to ask for it for my birthday because it looked really cute and had good features, and the reviews were good. However, when i got the camera i found that it felt CHEAPLY MADE. it was so small and light it felt made of plastic. Also, the screen is not very good - the images are grainy; the zoom is less than you think, and makes a weird noise when you zoom in or out. Plus, the features aren't even that good, and there are no color effects!! (black and white, sepia, etc). I really would not recommend this camera to anyone, and i will be returning it promptly.

Amazing camera!

By music4l1fe94 from Philadelphia, PA on 03/19/2010

I got this camera delivered to me yesterday and I already am in love with it. The color choices are awesome. I was sooo amazed by how light and slim this was when I was holding it. It takes great pictures in any scene, although I have not really gone outside to take any, quite yet. The Intelligent Auto is pretty neat and the other features are also. I like how you can show a slideshow and play it with music (either your own, or the music already on there). The panoramic feature seems awesome! I would love to use this in cities, beaches, parks, etc. I am a photographer, so all these things are really helpful for me to learn. I do agree with the customer who said that you can't really hold the shutter button down halfway to focus as easily as some other cameras, but thats not a huge problem. The smile feature is neat also. You just press the smile icon on the pad thing and you shoot the camera at someone's face and it automatically takes a picture. That is really neat. I can't wait to explore more with this camera.

My Third Camera and Best Yet!

By danny088 from Undisclosed on 03/16/2010

I am pleased with my purchase. I was a little worried that the price wouldn't match up with the product, but it proved its worth the moment I started using it. I've owned a Samsung and Nikon Coolpix, but this beats both of them. I'm not saying it's perfect; the sweep panoramic did goof up when I tired to include the sunrise in a picture (but the user manual does say not to point the lens at the sun, so maybe that's not a legit problem). I also noticed that sweep panoramic isn't designed to take vertical shots--I could only get it to take shots horizontally from left to right. Overall, it's a pretty cool feature, and I look forward to using it under the right circumstances. At first I thought the battery life seemed to be draining too fast, but five days later, after 150 pics and about 10 minutes of viewing, maybe half of the battery life isn't too much to ask. This is my first camera with a lithium rechargeable battery, so I'm actually still pretty pleased with it, but I don't know if the specs listed above are considered "good" by higher standards. I have not used the USB connection cord yet, but I have used the USB memory card converter that came with the 8 GB memory card I purchased with my camera, and it works great. Overall, I love my new camera! My favorite features are the intelligent auto setting, the burst mode, and the ability to do simple editing to my photos while they're still inside my camera. I also love having a green camera!

Excellent Purchase!

By Anonymous from California, CA on 03/15/2010

I was researching lots of cameras after my Sony Cybershot-DSC-S700 broke after a long use! I had searched through Lumix, Cannon, Kodak, Nikon, and some other brand names out there but for what you get, I couldn't find another camera that looked as well as this one for the price. It has a large screen which quickly made it a favorite as others for around the same price just don't come in as well quality. I was enjoying my other camera but this one doesn't even compare to it! The settings it has still make me in awe, I've had it for a few months and am loving it! This is a must have!

Disappointed w/ Camera

By Anonymous from Madison WI on 03/06/2010

Bought this camera yesterday and took it back today. I was really hoping it would work well given the reviews for other cheaper Sony Cameras on CNET. It took great pics outside. It has great features. But, it has some flaws. The Battery was charged all night and looses its charge quickly. The battery door comes open too easily and I can see over time it may wear out prematurely. Lastly, the usb plugin on the camera was defective. You'd connect it to the computer and you'd have to wiggle it on the camera for it to recognize that it was plugged in. So the port had broken loose inside the camera. I'm a big fan of Sony. But I was very disappointed to have a quality issue, along with some questionable indoor picture quality. I probably would have kept the camera if it hadn't had the USB issue.

A disappointment

By Anonymous from houston on 03/01/2010

I owned a Sony before this that I loved, and it finally broke. This camera supposedly takes much better pictures than my old one, but I am so disappointed in this camera! While this camera takes very clear pictures of the actual subject, anything moving in the background ends up blurred. The camera also takes 2 pictures back to back if the camera dectects a certain lighting, which in theory is a great idea, however, the first picture is one with a flash, and people move around once they assume the picture is taken so the second picture is usually worthless, and the person taking it (unless it's you) won't realize it takes 2 and will move the camera once the first one is taken, again making any second picture worthelss. Plus, it takes a few seconds to reset once the pictuers are taken. Pictures taken of people with maximum zoom also come out very blurry. I am taking this camera back to the store and hopefully one of Sony's other models will take better pictures.

Wow!

By Anonymous from Denver, CO on 02/27/2010

I bought this camera to replace my aging cybershot w50. This camera is fantastic. It has more "bells and whistles" that make taking pictures fun. It is fun to experiment with new ways of taking pictures.

AWESOME CAMERA!!!

By Anonymous from Allendale MI on 02/19/2010

This camera impresses me every time i take a picture. The images are incredibly clear even if you are moving around while taking the picture. You can definitely see the difference from a 12.1 megapixel camera when viewing pictures on my BRAVIA with my PS3... Yea i am definitely a Sony guy for life!!!

Bang for your buck...

By Anonymous from Undisclosed on 01/30/2010

Just visited a Sony Style store and spent some time with the W350. I may move up to the TX7, but I must say that this camera is an amazing value and a great bang for your buck.

Bang for your buck...

By Scotti from Undisclosed on 01/30/2010

Just visited a Sony Style store and spent some time with the W350. I may move up to the TX7, but I must say that this camera is an amazing value and a great bang for your buck. The pricepoint is very affordable and the camera is well designed. Much better design, feature set and excecution than previous models at this price point. It is also very compact, well thought out--with a lock for the battery cover--and well built. This is a winner and Sony will own the $200 price point.

Best Camera EVER!!!!!!!!

By Anonymous from Undisclosed on 01/27/2010

just got it today. its my first!this camera is everything it says it isand more. its small, awesome color(blue) it is a truely amazing compact camera. it has the sweep panorama shots and its really easy and has awesome results. clear pictures. automatically swithces from auto to twilight when you enter a low light area. smile detection takes the pic whenever there is a smile( you dont have to hold down the button:)) its amazing. only thing is that when the is i guess a certain light, it shows it has a purple streak but if you use auto flash it doesnt show up in the pic.( my mom has a canon and she says hers does that too and doesnt go away) so it isnt anything big to NOT get this camera. i HIGHLY recommend it!
