I have had THREE MX-500 remote controls for my home theathers (we have two separate rooms). The one we use the most has failed twice now in less that 2 years. The first was replaced under warranty. The second is out of warranty so it appears we're stuck. The problem with both units that went bad was the "joy stick" button in the center. When we pres this button we never quite know what to expect. It can start scanning through over 200 channels on out Dish Network Setup, change to an immediately adjacent channel, not work at all. We have been forced to use the remote control for our Dish Network dual DVR (Tivo-like) remote to change channels. However, the MX-500 will not allow programing out Mitsubishi projection big screen into it. When we try to change to local programing with the MX-500 to allow us to view HDTV, we must resort to using the Mitsubishi remote to complete the transition to the local broadcasting stations to view HDTV. Reversing to satellite viewing we encounter the same non-functioning MX-500. I have emailed, telephone and sent snail mail letter to the MFG of the MX-500 and they simply DO NOT RESPOND. I have copies of 8 such correspondances with NO REPLY or even acknowledgements. [...] hope this helps future prospective customers with their decisions to purchase the MX-500 Universal Remote Control unit.
