    Works Great (with one exception)

    Cons:

    Wireless Remote Had Issue

    A Month Or Less

My application was that I had "secondary" TV on a roll-around cart. I have a CATV connection hooked up to the primary TV in the living room. This product seemed like a good solution which would allow me to view the CATV channels on the secondary TV in any room in the house (rather than paying to get CATV cable run to all the various rooms). In my application, my experience with this product is that the Video works pretty good. Nice quality picture with very little interference. I did have an issue with the IR remote however. Initially, I set up the receiver on the secondary TV in the same room as the transmitter, just to insure everything was working. In that setup, the IR remote worked fine. However, when I move the secondary TV into the kitchen, the Video was still fine but the IR remote didn't work anymore. I tried various positions of the UHF antenna on both transmitter/receiver but couldn't get the remote to work. I expect the UHF on the unit just couldn't cope with having to go through two walls. So, my solution was hook up my VCR (which has a TV tuner), to the transmitter, and use the VCR remote to change cable TV channels. This setup works fine. My advice for anyone considering this unit would be that they take into account how far away the receiver will be from the transmitter and if there are any walls or other obstructions, the IR remote may not work. In those cases, it might be better to consider the RF Link product that does not contain the TV tuner, and hook it up to a video unit that does (VCR, DVD, TiVo, etc.). You'll have to change channels from the video unit.

    Great Idea, But falls short.

    Cons:

    Remote Control, Limited Functions

    Describe Yourself:

    Pros:

    Easy To Set Up

    Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have owned a Angeltrax catv 2400, and now this item. The RF link does have a better picture than the angeltrax, but the tuner has most of the chanels out of order. I have reset the tuner 3 times and it did not help. The ir mouse works great. I suggest purchasing the model with no tuner and using the ir mouse to change chanels on a Tivo or cable box or something with a tuner and rca out plugs. i have my rf link transmitter auxilary plugged into my tivo and the ir mouse in front of my tivo. Then use the Tivo remote on the rf link receiver. The credit card size remote that the rf link comes with is a joke. the rf link is flawed by design, but produces a better picture than the angeltrax.
