Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Great monitor. I love the native 1920x1080 resolution (that's why I bought it in the first place). My only gripe is that I like to reduce the brightness at night, and adjusting the brightness is more tedious than it needs to be. The buttons on the front should default to brightness, but instead you have to dig three levels into the menu before you can adjust the brightness. Other than that, it's a solid monitor.
