Good amplifier but radio is only fair

Has Phono Input, Easy To Install, Sounds Good
Cons:
Radio Tuning Confussing, Fm Tuner Overloads
Describe Yourself:

Best Uses:
Big Jobs, Inside, Small Jobs
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I use the receiver in a stereo system containing a CD changer, Ipod, and a turntable. The amplifier section is easy to use, works well and sounds good. The tuner section however is only fair. I live within 3 miles of two TV transmitter which overload the FM front end when connected to a simple outdoor antenna. I had to insert 10 db of attenuation into the antenna to bring the front end out of overload. Once I did that the unit worked OK on the stations I was interested in. Note: I have a sony receiver that has the same problem. Car radios never have this problem at my location. The tuning of the unit is confusing. Sometime while manually tuning, the unit will go into scan mode for some unknown reason. The tuning is illogical, it tunes in 100khz increments. This makes no sense since FM stations are only assigned on 200khz increments. Overall the unit is fine for may application. The amplifier works great and once I inserted attenuation and preset the FM stations the radio section works fine for the two stations I listen to. I would not recommend it for users with demanding FM requirements.

Pros:
Good Power, Clean Sound, Accurate Controls, Easy To Set Up
Best Uses:
Basic Systems
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I use it in my airplane hanger with a very good pair of bookshelf speakers and an 8" subwoofer. Also a Sony DVD/Cd player. Have it set up for Ipod also using the AUX RCA It does sound very good and keeps me in good company when I working there. Receiver is for those of us that want a plain vanilla two channel system at a modest price. I had the speakers from years ago and they were not being used. For a few bucks Ive got a great set up.
