A pass through mode would be helpful so the video could be seen when the system isn't on. It does seem to do a good job on correcting the sync problems I've seen."

from Undisclosed on 06/28/2006 My new LCD HDTV, with all the various inputs it accepts, was losing sync with my VCR when I tried to play copy-protected tapes. Apparently the TV can't handle the altered sync signal.
This unit restores the sync levels that the VCR copy protection destroys. It is not perfect - the video images tend to show some ghosting - probably my TV not synching 100%. Also, the image brightness cycles if paused (causing a repeated "brightness popping"). I was also a bit disappointed with some of the adjustments - most make little difference to the video. Interesting note, supposedly this will convert between PAL/NTSC. My TV worked the same with either output option (perhaps it accepts both?).
The remote is simple but responsive - if lost the front panel has the same buttons. Note the unit does not have any readout on the front - it is configured via the TV. It also does not have a "sync" adjustment, so I'm stuck with what it gives me. The front panel does give three knobs for color adjustment that work well (not available on the remote).
