Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
for video its so light that its not a shlep when I'm not ussing it -- but surprisingly easy to deploy and use when I need it. I thought about a longer one, but they were much heavier and more expensive. I handles my 3.5-4lb. camera -- and it comes w a decent qik release (but I wish that same release was availble as an accesserie -- so I could swap between tripods etc) for how inexpensive it is though, fantasric deal
