No, I would not recommend this to a friend
This tv was very nice in the short amount of time that it worked. But after the first 5 hours or so, the backlight died, so now its not so nice. Guess thats what you get for spending more on a "good name brand". Now my family gets too look forward to many weeks and months of fighting toshiba to get it fixed.
